    Anxiety is setting in!

My anxiety was killing me. I even tried to back out of the surgery, but luckily they deal with that all the time and were able to talk me out of it. I am so grateful for that because the benefits out way everything else. In fact, my overall anxiety is way down now that I feel better about myself and my new life.

I'm OCD and step on the scale everyday. lol But it can be disappointing to see no loss. I let my clothes be the measuring stick except now that I have neared 100lbs. lost I took measurements. Also my trainer took measurements for a starting point of the next 80lbs.

    Mens Stats

I am 40 years old am 6'2". Starting weight was 384lbs. (38% bodyfat) and I had surgery on Feb. 24th. I am currently 289lbs at 28% bodyfat and just started weight training this week. I was averaging about 4lbs. a week in the beginning few months. Due to a stupid decision by myself (medication related) I have only lost 5 pounds over the last 5 weeks. I know this will change now that I am back on my meds. I feel measurements are a pretty important thing to watch also. I had a 56" chest now 50" ... waist was 54" now 44" ... neck was 21" now 18". Unfortunately biceps went from 18.5" down to 16.75" but we are starting to work on that. I still have approx. 80lbs to lose and shooting for 12-15% bodyfat. Hope this info helps but don't get discouraged. The weight will come off!!!
  5. I struggled also but it hasn't hurt the lifestyle change after surgery for me. It becomes a lot easier to make the change once your body doesn't accept or want that bad food anymore. I was really worried about it and questioned my mental ability to change my habits. With that said I have given up everything bad that I was in the habit of eating and am down 93lbs in 5 months. Good luck on Friday!!!!

    Planet Fitness- reviews/?

I think it is the best gym for the money especially for people who have had bariatric surgery. It is focused on cardio, and that is all we really need after surgery. I still have my membership at my "weight lifting" gym but I am not ready to be there yet. Planet Fitness offers a full year for $99 in Dec. so you can't beat it. I go there every night after work to walk the treadmill or ride the bike for 20-30 minutes. Go through the circuit training area (after it was okay by my surgeon) and out of there in 45 minutes.

    25 day update with pictures

Thank you but it looks like I have a lot of work to do compared to your results. Wow is all I can say Looking good! Keep it up!
  9. I struggle with eating meat also. I think it just doesn't breakdown enough to comfortably pass through. I stick with shredded or ground meats only and they seem to work fine.

    25 day update with pictures

Thought I would add a new "halfway there" photo. I'm down 87lbs in less then 5 months and halfway to my goal weight.
  11. I would also like to add that I got an email from Gabby last week that they disected my stomach that was removed and found that I have a bad bacteria in my stomach that needs to be treated. I have been going to the Dr. for years with stomach aches and they never find anything wrong. They sent me a picture of my stomach and the picture of the bacteria with a full write up for me to bring to my doctor. THat kind of service is well worth paying the extra money for. I am down 33 lbs at 3 weeks!!!!

Maybe i wasnt ready for this ..#vent

Good to hear that you are doing better. I am 10 days post and am struggling a little bit. I make my chicken broth at the time when people in my office make thier lunches (at least you get to use a spoon)lol. Then I use the popsicles & jello as my treat. I have a couple co-workers who come by my office to walk with me twice during my shift to make sure I get my walking in everyday. Good Support seems to be keeping me going ... and of course the 22 lbs. I have lost so far. lol

    February 2014 Mexico Sleevers!

I was sleeved last week Monday (2-24) by Dr. Aceves & team. I am glad to say that I am feeling pretty good and back to work. I stepped on the scale for the 1st time this afternoon and was down 19 lbs.
  15. I had surgery last Monday by Dr. Aceves. He was referred to me by a co-worker. I am very happy now with how much they do for you. They leave no stone unturned in making sure you have every ounce of knowledge needed. I even emailed Nina having cold feet and almost backing out just days before. Once in there care you feel secure. I am back to work today and doing good. I would refer Dr. Aceves and team to anybody who wants to go to Mexico and self pay. p.s. I have bad anxiety and they kept me very calm.

    Post Op Liquid Diet

I have been planning for the post - op diet also as my date is the 24th. I went and bought unjury chicken broth, Unjury kiwi strawberry powders, propel Water, smart water, Gatorade G2 just in case my blood sugar goes low, and Protein Ice drink which should last me the 1st month. I will pickup the sugar free Jello & popsicles the day before I go. But I'm a lil OCD. lol
  17. I am going to have surgery on Feb. 24th and have been planning out & shopping for my post needs. I found a great tasting, easy to drink Protein drink called Protein Ice by Advanced Nutrient Science. It comes in a 20oz bottle and here are the Nutritional Facts: Calories: 170 Fat: 0 Carbs: 0 Sugars: 0 Protein: 42g Lactose Free Gluten Free Comes in 5 different flavors!!! FYI ... the GNC Store near my house is sold out.

    Easy to drink Protein

Thank you for all the research. I really like the taste so it makes it easy to use for a Meal Replacement.

    Easy to drink Protein

Yes I am very nervous. I have made every con into an excuse not to go through it. But I know it will be good for me. This protein was not recommended by anybody and I plan on using unjury for the 1st 2 weeks after surgery which is recommended by Dr. Aceves. It is available through other sources online. I just happen to have a GNC across the street from were I live. Good luck with your surgery.

    fast tracked and fearfull

I feeling the same and asking the same questions. My friends just keep telling me to stop reading the negative or possible cons and be excited for the pros. So I think we all have the same thought process prior but listen to how happy the post -op people are. I'm ready just wish I didn't have to wait 13 more days.

    February 2014 Mexico Sleevers!

I am scheduled for 2/24 with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I started a week early on his 6 day pre-op diet to prepare myself for the lifestyle change. Bye Bye Diet Pepsi & the drive-thru.

    Anxiety and getting sleeved

I am feeling your pain. I am 13 days from having the surgery and I am really struggling with anxiety. I have been telling my friends all the possible negatives and they are telling me to stop reading. I am pretty sure I will make it through the process but I will definitely need some positive encouragement to get there. Good luck and stay strong (mentally).
