Gastric Bypass Surgery Progress Pictures

My 15 month survive rosary, lol. 180 pounds lighter & feeling fantastic! Today -
I had a gastric bypass on April 8th. Total weight loss since starting the process.... 120lbs. That's fantastic, even if I do say so myself! Lol. But I'm going bald. I'm losing so much hair! I'm taking the bariatric multivits twice a day, bariatric calcium wafers twice a day, B12 two a day & biotin. I bought $40 Nioxin shampoo & conditioner to help with thinning hair. Protein intake is great, usually 80 + a day. Have any of you found anything to help?

I am 9 months out from gastric bypass. I have been keeping myself at 1000 calories a day, sometimes but nit often, up to 2000. How many calories are you eating a day?

Janeta16....... Unbraid that hair! Most of us will get hair loss..... The good news, it starts coming back in around 8-9 months post-op. Braiding, pony tails etc will weaken the hair shafts. We need to put as little stress on our already fragile hair as possible. Let it breathe. I was more upset over the way my hair looked that anything. It made me look so OLD!! It's coming back now, but not fast enough for me. Good luck, sweetie!!

I hate the stalls!! I'm 5'3 with a small bone structure. Right now I'm bouncing between 190-193#. Almost 9 months out & the weight loss is so much slower. My goal weight is 130, although with all the extra skin, I'm not sure I will get that low. I'm still not sure if I'm getting enough calories, maybe putting myself in starvation mode. 1000 calories really isn't much & I'm not losing. But I'm so afraid to up it. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm down to an Lg/XLG top & size 16-20 bottoms (depending on the make). I am extremely happy with the 160# weight loss, but I want to hit my goal. I'm just feeling a little discouraged at this point. Help!!!!

I had my 6 month follow up with my surgeon yesterday. He said I was firing on all 4 cylinder.... finally!! I had gastric bypass April 8, 2014. Unfortunately, I'm one who had complications. I wound up back in surgery no even 12 hours after the bypass. I had adhesions which caused a bowel leak. Thank God my doctor was a great, conscientious surgeon & discovered the problem & repaired the hole. But I became septic. The antibiotics weren't working & my temp kept climbing. For 3 weeks I was on a ventilator & medically comatose. I remember nothing until mid May. I later found out that it was touch & go for a while. I figure God kept me here for a reason. I pent a total of 2 1/2 months in Yvette hospital & another 2 weeks in rehab learning to walk again & building my strength up. But here I am! No longer diabetic, no high blood pressure. & feeling better than I ever have. I'm walking! Everywhere! At my heaviest. I was 350lbs & only 5'3". I'm now 210lbs 140lbs gone in 6 months. I Thank God everyday for letting me live to change my life & experience this new body. I'm not finished yet, but I WILL get there. Yes it was a tough situation to go through, but looking back,so worth it.

I have read the if you aren't getting enough animal protein, you make stay hungry. I notice that when I do 2 meals of chicken, I stay fuller & don't get as hungry.

Are you take Vitamin B12 sublingual? I'm taking 2 a day & I feel better than I ever have. It took me about 4 months after surgery to feel good, but most days I feel I can do anything!!

How to take vitamins after surgery
KimEndoRN replied to over nighter's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
If you go to a specialty vitamin store, they should have everything you need to take in a chewable form. If not they can order it for you.. -
Stool can be any color. It also has to do with what you eat & drink.... The dyes, etc. I was having the worst problem with constipation. I now take Miralax everyday & have a BM every 1-2 days. You can mix it in any liquid & it's not flavored so doesn't change the taste of anything.

If you call the insurance company, it should escalate your claim/request. Sometimes you have to call everyday.

I'm 5'5" , 370# which surgery?
KimEndoRN replied to MichelleTN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went with my surgeon's advice & had a gastric bypass on April 8, 2014. My highest weight was 350 & today I weigh 237. I had complications after surgery, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. -
I had a gastric bypass on April 8, 2014. I was in the pre-op room when my daughter took a picture for Facebook. That's the last thing I remembered until 3+ weeks later. The surgery took a little longer than normal because my stomach had adhered to my liver & they needed to be separated. I came out of surgery fine. Then apparently I began having severe pain in my lower abdomen. Thank God the nurses & my surgeon were on the ball. He sent me for a CT scan which showed a leak. I was taken back into surgery where I had to be opened. I had had other abdominal surgeries which caused a lot of scar tissue. When the doc went to pull up the intestine for the bypass, it ripped, causing a leak. This caused me to become septic. I was in ICU on a ventilator for over 2 weeks. I was also kept basically comatose for that time. After coming off the vent, I was confused, didn't understand what happened. It was almost impossible to move my legs, turn myself in the bed. I had lost function, strength & a think a little of my mind. I was in the hospital for nearly 2 months. Then I had to go to rehab for 2 weeks to learn how to walk again. When I look back, I'm just thankful. I was on death's door, but God pulled me back. My family was even called in from out of state. So blessed I am. I am still weak, but I'm working on that & endurance. I walk on the treadmill nearly everyday. I'm lucky if I get 20 minutes of walking done. I get so frustrated! They tell me it may take several months to get back to normal. But I'm working hard, trying to do a little more each day. I want to be able to walk thru the mall, the park. I'm tired of having to use a wheelchair when it's going to be a longer walk. But I WILL get there! My highest weight was 350. On the day of surgery I was 303. Today I weigh 243. That's a total weight loss of 107 lbs. 60lbs from the day of surgery. I'm having to buy new clothes, I can see a difference in the mirror & although I'm not 100%, I will get there. Would I have the surgery again? Absolutely!!
