Scrapbooking/journaling your adventure?
Sapphire904 replied to cori in wa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have decided to start a scrapbook about my journey. I am gathering up pictures beginning with childhood and continuing through the present. I haven't decided, however, how to do my weight loss journey though. A month at a time? That might give the biggest differences! I am only two weeks post op so I do have time to decide. I am a Creative Memories consultant and teach people how to organize their memories whether it be regular photos or digital. For myself, this is one journey I need to document!:biggrin2: -
OMG!! Just ate 5 french fries and a bite of fish
Sapphire904 replied to Sapphire904's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the advice! I was just astounded at myself and couldn't believe that happened. Anyway, I am right back on track and plan on staying this way. -
Haven't been here in a while, so here goes...
Sapphire904 replied to waterlily1072's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dear Molly, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your Mother. I lost my Dad three years ago and I can speak from experience that it does get better. One day at a time. Remember all the good times and be kind to yourself. You have suffered a big loss. As for me, I have just been banded for a week so I am not much help in that matter. However, in the past three years, I have not lost any weight. I applaud you for wanting to get that portion of your life back on track. We are all on a journey - one we can reach with all the support we find here. Good luck on this NEW beginning! -
How To Hide Lap Band From Work
Sapphire904 replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To tell or not to tell - this subject is so dear to my heart! I was just banded on 03/07 and I have not really told many people. My manager knows the whole story at work and one other girl who is having the same surgery. She and I have been good support for one another! Only our supervisor knows I had surgery. I went back to work on Wednesday and struggled to make it through the day. Thursday and Friday I took a 1/2 day. That helped tremendously! I have been able to skirt the issue and will continue to do so for as long as possible. I have never felt that my weight was public domain even though a weight problem is pretty apparent. MY DH and kids know, of course, and they have been really good about everything! I will continue on my path regardless of who I decide to inform as time goes by. -
Thanks for the tip! Back to plain tylenol!! Hopefully it won't be needed too long!

Went back to work today. Did fine until 2 p.m. - I would have come home if things were different today. Oh well, I survived. Looking forward to a shake this evening and let's see...Jello!! Saturday I get to add pudding and yogurt among a few other things. Hope other 3/7's are doing great! I do have quite a burning feeling where I think the port is though and some pain in my left shoulder. Nothing some ibuprofen and tylenol can't fix!

One day at a time and so far, so good! It has not been as difficult as I had imagined! Went out for a walk this afternoon. Fresh air felt good! I will be going back to work tomorrow! That may be a little harder as I have been taking a nap every afternoon since Friday! Oh, well, we'll see what happens. Getting better at the shakes and water, etc. Looking forward to adding a few things on Saturday. Any 3/7 bandsters from Massachusetts?

I was banded Friday as well. Not really interested in the shakes or much of anything else. Have to make a real effort to drink, but drink I will so as not to become dehydrated. Not feeling too badly, a little sore and have a little gas. To be expected, I guess. Hope this day is better! Am still very tired, though.

Congratulations to you! I cannot believe how quickly March 7th will be here now. I received my packet with my pre-op information and that will make it fly by even faster! I wish you the best of luck.

Exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time! I really cannot wait, but already the time seems to be flying by! I like your ticker as well!

To Tell or Not to Tell???
Sapphire904 replied to DeRaco's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am being banded on March 7th and I have told very few people. My husband is extremely supportive and feels this necessary for my health and well-being. I confided in my manager at work as she will have to be there every day I am gone and a co-worker who has weight issues also and is on her band journey. The one other person I suggested it to started to cry. I just didn't want to handle all that from others. Plus, my sister just had a botched surgery for a totally different reason and almost died. For that reason alone, I cannot tell my family. They are not ready to be put through more worry. Besides, this is not the "easy way out". It will still require hard work and exercise on our part. As others have stated - it is your business and there is nothing wrong with keeping it that way. -
Thank you! I went to a support group tonight and will go once again before surgery. I think I have learned a little something each time eI have gone to one. The next few weeks will surely be a learning opportunity!

Has Anyone Wanted to Eat and Eat before pre op
Sapphire904 replied to yellowroseaz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I read your post with great interest as this is exactly how I am feeling. I just received my banding date and am very excited about it! Over the next few weeks, I hope to lose about 10-15 pounds before surgery. I know I can do it even if have been thinking about chocolate! March 7th will be the start of my new life! -
Hi! Wondering is anyone has Tri-State Teamsters/BCBS. I have started on this 6 month journey where I have to "check-in" every 4-6 weeks. I am extremely interested in knowing if it was easy to get approved. I am so ready for this journey, though after a lifetime of failing at various diets.:faint:Actually, losing the weight is not the problem - keeping the weight off is!

Insurance Co. requires 6 months of documented medically supervised wght loss plan
Sapphire904 replied to 2boys3cats's topic in Insurance & Financing
My insurance company also requires 6 months on a "take-charge" program. My BMI is 41 and I have several of the co-morbidities. I feel the same way about losing weight at this point - I know I can do it, but if I get below the 40 BMI they require, will they then deny me? I am looking to this as a tool to help me be where I want to be. I have my first Dr appt on Wednesday. Perhaps I will know more after that.
