<2 weeks out and having problems with anything other than water
ChavaBling replied to momohime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I just wanted to tell you that the unjury chicken broth mix has a lot of protein (20 g) and tastes pretty savory. Maybe that warm, savory broth would agree with you more? You can buy the sample packets online for $2 each, if you're interested. You also might be able to find it in some nutrition/vitamin stores. I hope this will pass for you...stay strong and remember you're not alone on this journey. {{{HUGS}}} -

Thank you so much for sharing! I am so anxious about my surge (next Fri, 5/23) and hearing your story makes me feel a lot less nervous! -

MAY 22nd Surg Date! Would love a sleeve sister!
ChavaBling replied to badass_ladyfriend's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey badass & w1008, My surgery was ALSO scheduled for the 22nd, but my surgeon moved it to the 23rd (DOH!) I sure would like to buddy up with you ladyfriends...for check ins, progress, & encouragement. I'm 31, 5' 1/2", and live in the SF Bay Area. Are you gals in the May sleevers group? -
Hmmm, this might be a dumb question- if you are only taking in one popsicle a day, are you getting dehydrated? Or are you still so pumped full of IV fluids that it is ok for a few days? Is it ok to forego Protein for a few days?
-
You rock, sister!! Keep up the reat work. I'll bet it feels amazing...see you in onederland!
-
Great job! You & I have pretty similar numbers...similar starting weight, and my goal weight is between 125-135...although I'm only 5' 1/2" I get sleeved in 10 days! I'll be following your progress so make sure to keep us updated!

No bowel movement in 9 days!
ChavaBling replied to O-Town Body Rock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi O-town, I have a question for you & the other members of Constipation Nation- If you can only take small sips at a time, and Miralax clumps, how can you ingest enough for it to work? Do you just mix it into your unsweetened prune juice and try to sip it quickly & efficiently? I am seriously struggling (to poop) already on my high-Protein, low-carb pre-op diet. I have surgery in 10 days and I'm worried about how it's gonna "come out"...thank you. -
Hello, May sleevers! I am getting so excited/nervous for next Friday, May 23. My surgeon is Dr. Mary Estakhri in Pleasanton, CA. I am so grateful to have good insurance because this $urgery is expen$ive! Is there anyone else out there with a May 23 date or at ValleyCare? Good luck to all the May sleevers!

Thursday Fun--Does your sleeve have a nickname?
ChavaBling replied to hopeliveshere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh noooo!!!! My cherie amour, I also want to name my new tummy Sleevie Wonder. Maybe Sir Duke instead? LOL. Sleeven Segal? Or maybe Sleeve Harvey? What about Sleevin' Spielberg? Or perhaps even Sleeve Carell, Emmy-winning former star of The Office (American version). Of course there's also late-night host Sleeven Colbert. Maybe I need to get sleeved first and the answer will come to me. Or I might still call him Sleevie Wonder, because it truly is a wonderful thing. -
How Long Btwn Submitting to Insurance and Surgery Date?
ChavaBling replied to mnmlst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved in 6 days. The surgery was then scheduled for 5 weeks after that. So, total time from submittal to sleeved was about 6 weeks. -

It is great to hear you're feeling well! How bad does it hurt to sneeze? What does it feel like? How did you know you were ok? -
If you have more to lose, do you lose faster?
ChavaBling posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going into surgery (21 days!) with a higher BMI. I'm 5' 1/2" and currently I'm 266 lbs. My BMI is about 50. Since I have so much to lose (over 50% of my body weight), I am wondering if I will lose weight faster. Sometimes when I look at other people's stats, it seems like those who were heavier lost more weight, faster. I know everyone's different, too. I was just wondering if this was anyone else's experience all other things being equal. Assuming 100% compliance with diet & exercise... -
So, it's moontime (aka TOM). Although my surgery is in 23 days, I am trying to adopt the lifestyle changes early and often. It's a daily challenge, but I've got to try. So, I finally kicked my old ibuprofen habit. I mean, if a "habit" is taking it several days a month for intense menstrual cramps. I have extreme dysmennorhea that lasts for days. I usually don't call in to work, but I want to. I'm kind of useless for 1-2 days. So, my question is, What do we take when we can't take ibuprofen??? I've literally been taking IB for cramps for 15 years. I don't know anything else! I even bought the bran-name extra strength tylenol, and it doesn't even make a dent in the pain. Don't most PMS meds contain caffeine? I don't want to take that, either. I will talk to my surgeon about this when I see her in 20 days, but for now.... Can someone please suggest something comparable? Thank you, SCB

3 Weeks Post Op--burning pain, not incision site.
ChavaBling replied to vsg5649's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry you're having this pain. I hope you feel better soon. Please keep us updated on your progress and if you get an answer! -
**Please excuse my unabashed excitement** I am thrilled to say that I have been approved by insurance for my new Sleevie Wonder! They approved it in 5 business days and I got scheduled so fast! I went today for my final weigh-in & pre-op prep class and I am -check it out- FOUR (4) OUNCES BELOW MY PRE-SURGERY GOAL WEIGHT!! LOL, glad I skipped the Fudgesicle after dinner last night!! I never thought 4 oz would matter this freakin much! I have 4 weeks to keep on losing. Dr. E only requires 2 days of clear liquids prior to surgery, but I might try to start full liquids one week out. Maybe shrink my liver a little more? I don't see how it could hurt. Then again, maybe I should enjoy those last few days of solid food...it'll be a while before I have those again.

Just got home
ChavaBling replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You feel well enough to type, and you're walking!! Good things! -
May 22nd, oh yeah!! Just got my surgery date this week and I'm feeling a lot of emotions! Happy, sad, excited, nervous, etc. I was going to be more secretive about it, but in an office of only 6 people, that's kind of impossible. I am not going to lie to all of my friends and family about it, either. I have been contemplating surgery for 3 years, and I chickened out once before. Now that I have a date, and I have finished ALL of my pre-op stuff, I feel like it is "real", so I'm starting to tell people. IMHO, if someone thinks the sleeve is easy or that it is cheating, you just laugh at them as you show off your new outfit, k?! And I always make sure to mention, "Well... I've lost 25 pounds so far with diet and exercise. It's not easy!" May sleevers, yay!!
