@@Mrs.RRn how long did you wait to start strength training? I am 7 weeks out tomorrow & I'm worried that my muscles are, like, atrophying as we speak...I've been doing cardio only.

YEAH, GURRRLLL!!!! If I could post a .gif of Beyonce shaking her thang, I would. So truly happy for you!!!
  8. Have you also discussed this with your nutritionist? Has your doctor cleared you for such strenuous exercise? That sounds pretty hardcore! I sometimes have to make a conscious decision to trust my medical team, even though I don't always agree 100%. On the other hand, you know your body best.

  10. I was sleeved at 11:16 AM on May 23, 2014. I lost 5 lbs on Day 3, and have been hovering between 154.8-155.6 for almost a week. I probably need to lay off the scale but there's just that intense feeling of validation when your weight drops- I'm still waiting on that. Even though it's WAY TOO early to be bugging about this, a loss shows I didn't go through this for nothing. Except, I'm following my surgeon's instructions to the letter, and I probably just need to chillax and get through the first few weeks, which I am hoping are the hardest

    May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!

I'm exactly 1 month out today. I haven't weighed myself since my doctor's visit last week, but I returned to work today. I started feeling really tired about halway through the day, but it's 4:49 PM and I've made it through! Every day for lunch, I am now eating a slice of deli turkey and a slice of reduced fat swiss rolled up. I take tiny bites and chew slowly, and can hardly finish it. Today I ate it too fast and it came back out I was only taking a small bite every few minutes, but hey- I'm only on day 3 of soft foods. I think it was because I was distractedly eating it at my desk instead of eating mindfully. I'm wondering if I should advise my coworkers about my occasional random upchucks...

    What is your theme song?

I would have to say "DIVA" by Beyoncé. "Now now now diva is the female version of a hustla, of a hustla, of a of a hustla". Both the song and the video give me POWER! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNM5HW13_O8

    am i bulimic

Honey, I am so sorry you're having this issue. I believe if you are not compulsively making yourself vomit, then that is not bulimia. However, I hope for your health you talk to a therapist about your feelings. I had a very similar convo with my therapist (who specializes in disordered eating, among other things) and it made me feel SO MUCH better when I was "spittin up" all the time. As far as the black stuff, I think you should call your doctor immediately. Also, are you eating slowly and keeping your portions small? the only time I involuntarily toss my "cookies" is when I eat too much too fast.

I was looking for coffee-flavored protein powder. I found out that Isopure has an Espresso flavor and heard about Chike being pretty good from this website.

@BeagleLover 1.) I LOVE beagles!!! Emily was our beagle growing up, she lived to be 16! 2.) I have heard that Chike is GREAT. Let me know how the coffee flavor is!

Actually, I haven't tried any protein shakes yet. I'm still around 2 months out. After responding to you, I found out that Isopure also has a Columbian Coffee flavor, not just the Espresso. Guess I have to go someplace where they let you try this stuff out. This site has explained that tastes change afterwards though. I still have trouble believing that any drink would be "too sweet" to me. That's not in my vocabulary. I'm a poster child for Sweet N' Low and Splenda (I'm diabetic, SO FAR). Hopefully, that will change.

    May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!

Say Hey Willie May Sleevers! I just had my 2nd post-op appt today, 26 days out. I'm down 13.5 lbs from surgery in about 4 weeks. It's important not to compare myself to others!! Weight is just one metric in this ongoing journey. I'm down a size in clothing! My doc said, "if you were on a diet, And you lost this amount of weight, you'd be doing cartwheels down the hallway of my office". it's good to have perspective. I'm currently in a 14 day "pureed foods" period. I am most comfortable with liquids and still have another 9 days before starting "soft" foods. @@pjpanda VitaFusion is so good! I take the Fiber gummies and I actually look forward to it! (chewing is fun) My NUT emphatically stated "Gummy Vitamins are crap" but I also know that some doctors specifically tell people to get the gummies, so I don't worry about it too much.
  17. Thank you for sharing your story with us! It's very important to hear. I'm 26 days out and I'm finding myself wishing time away- and that's never good. It's important to remember that these first few months are the hardest in many ways. I'm glad you're ok!
  18. I was treated for h. pylori and that resolved it. Surgery was a success.
  19. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.

  20. Mine were covered in glue but one glue thing fell off after 2 days. It seemed fine. I'm 20 days out and mine are healing up great!

    This is really hard.

My doctor gave me Norco, which is tylenol + vicodin. I was feeling great! I feel very blessed that I didn't have much pain...but it was probably also my every-6-hour regimen that I followed for the first week. So, pain meds, and walking! Good luck to you!
  22. I would tell myself that even scaredy cats can get through surgery and it's nowhere near as bad as you think!
  23. I'm doing this for me!

    May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!

hey there girls and boys. How is week 3 treating you? I am 10 lbs down and have maintained for the last 3 days. Trying not to get pissed about "slow" weight loss. 10 lbs in 17 days isn't too bad- it took me over 6 months to lose 31# pre-op!
  25. 'Morning y'all! This is my first post in the "SUCCESS STORIES" section and that alone feels like a NSV, even though this is a weight-related post. I am 13 days out from my surgery and have lost a total of about 9 lbs during that time. It's not 24 lbs or even 15, but it's NINE POUNDS IN 13 DAYS, I'll take it! My big moment this morning was when I realized that including my pre-op weight loss, I've lost 40 lbs!! Woo hoo!! I'm 40 lbs down from the heaviest weight of my life, 291. Never going back again!
