  1. So I'm 3.5weeks post op and still on my soft food diet but next week I move on to real foods. I'm nervous about not having a limited diet but I have already changed the foods we buy, my brain does think about what I will eat for the next meal. I'm rarely hungry, but I do occasionally see a goodie in the pantry and remember how good they taste. I don't want to eat it I just remember how it was before. But just to keep myself in check I decided to get rid of some leftover Easter candy and I put it all in goodie bags for my oldests birthday party on Friday. I'd rather not have the temptation here at all. I know I'm just starting my journey but I can see how my brain reacts to food differently than before and I am so grateful for the change. I hope I can keep moving forward and beating those demons that have controlled my entire adult life.

    Feeling a little down.

I've managed to lose a few more pounds for a total of 13lbs post op. No way I could have lost that in 3 weeks (that averages out to 4.3lbs each week) on my own so I've stepped away from the scale and will weigh in once a week if I'm feeling good about it, but I may limit that for awhile. I don't want my life to become a number on the scale. I'm following the rules and I know the weight will come off. I'm sure I will be less terrified once a get about 60lbs gone. I'm feeling better, my clothes are loose and that's an amazing feeling.

    I just want to cry

Today is my 3 week mark. So I'm just a few days ahead of you. I'm on soft foods so I can have tuna, talapia, things like that. I sit and eat with my husband and 3 kids. Sometimes I have food with them and other times I just have water. Now instead of being down that I can't have some of the things they have I try to focus on talking to my family. I ask my oldest about her day and really listen to her stories. I talk to my twins and encourage them to eat (they are terrible eaters) it's just less about food now and more about the time I spend with them at the table. This may or may not help you but it has helped me. I steam a bag of edamame and eat a few here and there. It will get better for us and we will get to the point where we can eat the same foods as our family, just in smaller portions. I'm already starting to transition my husband and kids towards the way we ALL should be eating.

    Incisions

I had 4 incisions for the actual surgery and then the 5th is where they put the drain.
  5. Congratulations on your success! I'm not quite 3 weeks out and feel better already after a 33lbs total loss. It's always great to see people who achieved their ultimate goal.
  6. I'm a stay at home mom but I needed help the first three days with my kids. But after that I was good to go. I would have easily been able to go back to work within a week.
  7. Thanks for sharing! I too lost 11lbs the first week then nothing in week 2. I was so bummed. I'm almost 3 weeks but trying to weigh only once a week. Congratulations on your progress!

    April 14th!

I'm just now getting to where I can tolerate much of anything. For Breakfast I have a Protein shake Water in between Snack - boiled egg or cottage cheese (like 3 bites is all I can do) Water lunch - Protein Shake (usually the rest of what I couldn't finish at breakfast) Water Snack - today I tried edamame and it was delicious. Water Supper - tuna or talapia I'm getting maybe 500-600 calories in each day. I've been really focusing on protein because I've had a really hard time getting in more than 35g each day. The last 2 days have been better. But then my water intake suffers because I'm so full. I have to make myself drink and/or eat. I have yet to feel hungry.

    April 14th!

How are all the 4/14 sleevers doing? I'm feeling great, but my loss has stalled out for some reason. It's incredibly frustrating. I've lost 11lbs since my surgery date for a total of 31lbs, but I don't know why the scale hasn't moved in over a week. I'm following orders and trying to get all my protein and liquid in but it's difficult. I look forward to hearing from others.

    Shorties

I'm 5'2 and my doctor didn't give me a target weight. He said most patients lose 60-80% of excess weight which still leaves us overweight. That's with not doing much extra. For my surgeon I think they try to stay away from putting a number on where we should be so that this journey doesn't seem so daunting. I personally have a end goal of 135, but I may see that at 150 or 160 that I am good and wouldn't want to weigh less. This journey is more about how I feel and being healthy than only focusing on the number on the scale. I'm just going to be thrilled to weigh under 200! That will be a huge accomplishment.

    4 weeks out-soft solid stage

I've been stuck for the last week. Monday made two weeks post op. I've lost 11 pounds since surgery and 20 pounds before surgery. It really has messed with my head to not see the scale move this early on. But I've struggled with my Protein and Water intake. Yesterday and today my goals have been to get 70g of protein and as much water as I can tolerate to see if that helps. I'm still on pureed so I'm not really eating much other than an egg here and there and a smooshed avocado. Everyone says a stall is normal but it hasn't helped me feel any less bummed about it.
  12. I'm two weeks out and have graduated to pureed foods. I use my kids baby bowls and a baby spoon to help regulate how much I eat in a bite. I did the same when I was on just liquids and trying to have broth. Learning to sip and take small bites is a big deal!
