Yeah I had my gallbladder removed years ago and had terrible diarrhea for several years after. So I am familiar. I have my post op on Thursday so I will ask my doc. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I really just expected the constipation since that's all I have read about.

I'm happy to report that most of my shoulder pain has subsided. It got worse before it got better. But my wonderful husband has been massaging it every night and applying theragesic at least twice a night and it feels much better this morning. Not gone, but better. Thank GOODNESS!

I'm 5 days post op and feeling pretty good. Obviously a little weak but I'm doing my best to get in my fluids and protein. My biggest complaint is shoulder pain from trapped gas! The pain isn't constant but boy when it starts to hurt it's almost unbearable. I've tried moist heat, gas-x, moving my arm as much as possible and still today it's really bothersome. Does anyone have any other suggestions to get over this hump? I would have figured it would have vacated the shoulder by now but apparently not. Thanks in advance!

I'm doing well. They require 8-10% of your body weight. Also once your initial weigh in, you cannot gain any weight. They document your weight each visit. The nurse told me the morning of my surgery that if a patient comes in for surgery and has gained 1 pound he will cancel surgery. So once you commit to this you need to stick to your plan. I did low carb as they instructed. Meat and green, if it's either of those you can have it.

I know their group is very successful. Of course their are complications but they have maintained a "center of excellence" rating because of patient success. I didn't specifically ask that question but he willing told us of some issues he has encountered, some because the patient did not do what they were supposed to an others just a risk that happens with surgeries. I have yet to hear anything bad about either of the surgeons.

I am also doing lots of walking with no relief. I guess it's just going to take me awhile longer.

How is everyone feeling? I'm feeling human today. I've been able to drink more and get in more protein. My total weight loss is 27lbs. 7lbs since Monday morning. I went to my 5yr olds Easter party today and felt really good, but was exhausted when we got home. I hope everyone is resuming somewhat normal activities. I've got a few weeks before I get to actually eat anything but so far I haven't cared.

Yes the first visit they weigh you and see if you qualify and go over the two surgeries and give you the list of items required by their office. I go next week on Thursday to get my drain taken out and weigh in.

Anyone from around this area??

Hi Susan! I'm four days post op and feeling pretty good. I have some mild discomfort and I'm having trouble getting in my liquids and Protein but I'm trying my best. I made the choice to have the sleeve and did a ton of research before choosing a doctor/facility. My surgeon was Dr Marker and I couldn't be happier. He doesn't sugarcoat anything and he is honest about what to expect and reminds his patients that this is only a tool, we have to do the work to make the best of our sleeve. I'm down a total of 25lbs since I started this journey. I'm looking forward to being able to eat real real food and feel normal again. Feel free to ask me any questions.

How is everyone doing? I'm not doing so well at getting in my shakes or liquids. Every sip I take hits my stomach like a ton of bricks. I'm not in much pain, just sore from the air they filled my stomach up with. I'm hosting my daughters Easter egg hunt on Friday so I'm hoping and praying that I'll be feeling much better by then. No regrets so far, but I do look forward to getting to eat food again. I'm on liquids for the next 2 weeks. Anyone else come home with a drain???

Woohoo! I'm sleeved! Surgery went great. I've been up walking a ton, the air they put in to inflate the belly has caused me the most discomfort by far. Looking forward to getting all these wires unhooked from me. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Sooo excited! Did anyone have to drink magnesium citrate? OMG! You would think there wouldn't be anything to "clean" out after 10 days of liquids. I'm so ready to go sleep and wake up and get on the road. My prayers will be with everyone getting sleeved tomorrow. God bless!

I'm on day 7 and while I'm not hungry and I don't have a headache. I feel tired, and emotional. Tomorrow starts clear liquids only so that should be even more fun! Surgery is Monday and I can't wait!!! Keep up the good work everyone! It's hard but we CAN do it!

My grand total with all testing and other required visits was $5000. The sleep study cost me the most. The surgery ended up being 1270.40. But my hysterectomy in a few months will be free!

I think my body has gone into starvation mode. I'm following the liquid diet rules, and have lost weight, I guess I was expecting higher numbers. Since Monday I've only lost 3lbs when the first few days I was losing a pound a day. I guess I shouldn't complain but as well all know our emotions can get the best of us. Today's goal is to get in as much Water as possible. I haven't been getting in what I should. Maybe that will help get some water retention gone and help my feelings. Tonight is my support group meeting for portion control. I'm going to miss my oldests TBall game On a good note I'm out of the 240s!!

I'm a stay at home mom so my mom will be here for a few days to help with the little ones. I have the vanilla Bariatric advantage flavor. My doctor said we could add 3 frozen strawberries once a day to help change the flavor and when I can't get in more than 2 I put peanut butter in it and blend. Today I'm not hungry but it would be nice to chew something. I hope I can make it till Monday! Last night was my first night with the cpap and it sucked.

How did you choose your goal BMI?
Casie83 replied to NothingUpMySleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm pre surgery but I asked the same questions to my doctor. I think they try to give you realistic information. What is a "normal" result. Remember this is a tool. So for a bit the tool will work for you, but at some point you have to make the choice to work your tool to achieve your goal. I think most patients they see achieve the normal expectation of weight loss. My goal is to not focus so much on a number. I want to be healthy and feel good and the number that might be the magic number for me might not be right for another person my same age and height. -
So today was my pre admit stuff. I also had to go weigh in, get my training for Lovenox injections, and I picked up my cpap. I have paid for everything and all that's left is 6 more days of liquids and a support group meeting on Thursday. I'm exhausted! But the good news is that today I weighed 240! Down 16 pounds from my starting weight. Woohoooo!

Pre-op diet ... How do I handle family eating
Casie83 replied to defwen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too have a husband and 3 kids to feed each day. Today is day 3. So far it hasn't bothered me. Yesterday we even went to Olive Garden for my father in laws birthday and I ordered water with lemon and kept busy by feeding my twin girls. We also took the girls for ice cream and I refrained. I know it's what I have to do and that's what I'm going to do. I'm more worried about after surgery and not going back to old habits of bad choices and over eating. -
Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under
Casie83 replied to ladymacwhiz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! I'm 5'2. I'm scheduled to have my surgery on the 14th. I'm on day 3 of my liquid pre-op diet. My heaviest weight was 256, I am currently 243. I'm having a rough time drinking 3 protein shakes per day but I'm doing my very best, no cheating and drinking plenty of fluids. I can't wait till next week! -

I was thinking we could all be a great help to each other. Would any of you be interested in doing a weekly check in with our weight loss results and how we are feeling so that we can encourage and support each other? I'm very private and my husband doesn't even know how much I weigh but I am willing to put it out there so that we can all be open and honest and real about our journey.

I'm on day 3 of my liquid diet. Hasn't been bad, except that I'm really struggling to drink all 3 protein shakes. Day one I managed 2, yesterday I could only drink one and so far today I've had one. I'm not hungry at all and since Thursday I've lost 5lbs. I get my cpap on Monday, see the anesthesiologist and go for my Lovenox class. Won't be long now girls! I have to remember to have my husband to take a full length day of surgery picture so I can see my progress. So far I've lost 13 pounds. A lot of fears are starting to come up. But I'm trying to journal and be realistic about life after surgery.
