I'm okay with chicken as long as it doesn't have much (if any) breading. I can't handle breading after 2-3 bites. It also has to be moist. I have found if you marinate chicken breasts in the fridge overnight or during the day when you are at work they grill very well and stay moist enough to go down. I can't handle dry chicken, I have to have a sauce.

I've had 4 fills and lost my ability to eat the bread after #2 and the wraps after #2 as well. I have a hard time with tortillas as well so I just gave up on them.

My doctor also says NO to carbonation. I do admit though my favorite drink is a fountain coke. I don't do bottled sodas much because they are too bubbly, but I found that as long as I take it slow as in 1 Coke a day then I have no problems. I can still burp, I just have to be careful. I try never to have more than 1 soda a day (as in NO refills), but on occasion it does happen.

Welcome to bandland!! Our doctor gave us a list as to what we can eat. It included everything we could eat at that particular stage. Did your's give you a list?? Best of luck to you and more than anything enjoy the ride. BTW don't be surprised if you are a little down, a rapid decrease in calories can often cause depression.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. Thank God they did all the pre-surgery testing is all I can say. Please keep us posted, I can't wait to welcome you to bandland, you certainly deserve it! (((((HUGS))))

Hubby and I used Dr. Powell, but Hubby had his surgery at SCOR. He was in surgery at 8ish and out around noon. They were even nice enough to give my sis-in-law and myself lunch from the italian place next door. Best of luck to ya!! We have been very pleased with SCOR. -
Hello from Kentucky

Welcome to bandland and the forum. I wish you the best of luck. I started at 297 and I'm down to 194 in less than a year. -
I too researched the topic alot and only found 1 person, the lady from Chicago who's stomach was puncture who died. You must remember to look at the risks involved in staying obese and weight them against the risk of surgery. Obesity kills in higher rates than this surgery. Best of luck to ya!

Finally exactly 20 days early I am at 199!!!! WooooHoooooo!! Sorry no time for scale pics, but it's the first time since middle school I've seen the 1 in front of anything on the scale! It sure beats seeing that 3 that I used to see!!

MsButterKup23 replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Even though I haven't had a chance to update my ticker, I am now down 101 since last August. So please add me to the list. -
Congrats you look amazing!!

Okay Ray and my fellow August 05 people where are you??? Out enjoying your new bods?? I'm doing very well, I've lost 92lbs as of tonight. I am very pleased. I am debating on getting another fill as hubby is coming back from India next Sunday and is ready for his second fill. I will probably hold off as I just started a new job and I'm down 6lbs in almost 2 weeks. Hope everyone has a great week and don't be a stranger!! Keep us posted and stay strong!

Hi and welcome to bandland! I know it's hard to look at things as a long term, but the band is not a quick fix. If you are only 2 weeks out you are still dealing with the mental aspects of being banded. PLEASE give yourself time to heal and don't give up!! I am 27, but I was way over 200 all through high school, so if you would like someone to talk to I am here. Take care and ((((HUGS))))

So - what's your status?

I've been with the love of my life now for almost 5 years. It's amazing how fast time flies when you find your best friend and the person you want to spend forever with. -
I had a 5 year old orange cat that Harley got for me when we first got together in the summer of 2001. He started out as Ms. Kitty, (the pound didn't realize he was a boy he was so little and young) and soon developed into Kitty and then simply "O". When I was pregnant with Meleah I was told not to empty the litter box and hubby wasn't too thrilled about it. I asked Mo my 10 year old sister if she wanted to take care of him for me. She always wanted a cat that would let her love on him. O was a very affectionate cat and would let you do anything to him. I was down there last weekend and held him like a newborn baby and loved on him. My mom called me at 4 am telling me that O wasn't feeling well. That he was crying and laying around in odd places he typically never did. I told her to take him to the vet and that I would pay for it that I couldn't come down there today because I had to work (it's only my 2nd day). About 1/2 an hour later at 4:30ish she called and told me that he whimpered one last time, had a hard time breathing and died. Please keep Mo in your prayers, she is going through so much right now (other things I can not talk about), now her cat has died. I feel so torn because I can't call in my 2nd day to be there to help her deal with this. Here is the website of O. http://www.henderson-family.us/kitty.htm Thanks!

For I have sinned... While waiting in the drive thru at Sonic for my Sundae I decided to splurge and get a small order of chili-cheese fries. I can't eat fries what in the heck made me think I could eat chili-cheese fries. I haven't gotten sick, but I would almost pray to at this point, I feel almost stuck. Even 7 months out and almost 90lbs down to stray is human I guess. So Newbies don't feel bad! (and before anyone points out, I know I shouldn't have been there for the Sundae either, but I have to reward myself occasionally).

While giving my 17 month old a bath I decided to paint my toe nails while she played in the tub. So I sat on the toilet and I did so without feeling like I was going to blow a gasket and I only got the paint on my toe nails not my toes!!!! Wooohooo!!! That's the first time in 10 years I've painted my own toe nails successfully!!!

How's it going? I'm doing well. I stay at one spot for a couple weeks then lose 10 lbs quickly. I'm still working on being under 200 by my 28th birthday on May 23rd. I hope everyone is doing great!

I guess everyone else has lost all their weight and they are at the nudist convention.. Please post when you return!

Thankfully I don't do cold well so the Sonic Blast isn't something I would enjoy frequently. I can do ice cream for some reason better than drinks that are frozen or really cold. I rarely do hamburgers or sandwiches, I hate the feeling I get. I have noticed though as long as I don't drink for like an hour afterward (I know supposed to do so anyways) that I can eat about 1/2 a hamburger with the bottom bun. I can eat a (kids) cheeseburger from BK in 2 settings!! btw I've been good, no ice cream or fries in the past few days... I'm still loosing weight too!
-
Hi, I was about the same size you are, but only 5'6". I have lost my weight amazingly fast for a bandster from what I can tell, you have to remember that everyone is unique. My hubby got banded 5 months after I did and we are both very pleased with our decision. He actually lost weight before he was banded from just living with me and the changes I had to make as a bandster. I would do it again in a heart beat. I went through the surgery because I didn't want my then 10 month old to be without both her parents due to morbid obesity at a young age. Best of luck to ya!
-
Personally if I lost my band I would do GB. I do agree with the doc that there is a reason why doctors refuse to do certain things and the situation has definately changed after an erosion. Best of luck to everyone!
