Another one you might try is Dr. Wade Barker ask to speak to Earline.

Hi, I have 3 Labs and would highly recommend anyone considering getting a Lab to educate themselves on behaviors that are characteristic of the breed. Labs are great pets and typically wonderful with children, but can be very hyper and mouthy. I would recommend www.justlabradors.com forum. I will warn you that this forum is very much into responsible breeding so breeding is not a very popular topic unless you have certifications on eyes and hips and very good bloodlines as Labradors are the #1 most euthanized animals in the nation and the breed is very over bred. Best of luck to everyone!

Afraid To Start Next Step.... REAL FOOD
MsButterKup23 replied to NJChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Try not to be too hard on yourself if you do gain a bit of weight. As you can read from this forum it is completely normal to gain back some before your first fill. I gained back 5 pounds before my 1st fill and quickly lost it afterward. I have heard of people staying on soft food and Soups and they do NOT lose weight any quicker than those on solids with proper restriction. You have to eat to lose!! Best of luck to you! -
We don't buy snack items and if we do it's like once a month. My house (food wise) is pretty bare and it really helps me stay on track. Best of luck to you!

I am a little over 3 months out. All of my incisions have been closed since about 3-4 weeks out. I had a c-section in Oct. 2004 and didn't have this problem. Every now and then I have a pain around my port site, I figured it was just nerves growing back but in the past day or two I have noticed black dots appearing in the line of my incision. Sunday I went to a car show and was hurting most of the day. I know not to sunbath an incision during the first year even though it was sunny I naturally had my shirt on so it's not a sunburn. Kinda hard to describe I know...

I know that the threads he used were also clear as a couple of them were sticking out of my incisions. I'm not too worried about it just thought it was weird enough to mention.

Thanks, Hopefully someone will know what it is.

My pre-op diet is officially blown
MsButterKup23 replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will admit I had a double whopper cheeseburger with bacon and fries 2 days before my surgery. Everything went well, my liver was fine. Best of luck to you! -
Hi, I'm sorry that you are having such a rough time right now. You have gotten some excellent advice from everyone here. The only thing I wanted to add was the fact that it is common once your diet is altered and calories/nutrients are restricted for one to go into depression, I was aware of this before surgery so I was prepared. Please give your body a chance to heal before you make any drastic decision to have your band removed or anymore surgery. Does your doctor offer any type of aftercare program like group meetings? It really helps to be around those who have been there during this time. Remember things do get better and we are here for you!! ((((((HUGS)))))

One thing that they never mentioned to me that you need to be aware of is the use of blood thinners during or after surgery can make you period all messed up. I had a hefty dose of Heparin before surgery to prevent clots and had an unfriendly visitor come later on in the day of surgery and stay for 3 weeks. Nothing too bad, just annoying. Best of luck to you!!!

Woohoo!! I have made it my first 3 months with my band. Even though I've had my ups and downs I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have come to the conclusion though that my band has some sort of multiple personality disorder, sometimes she likes me sometimes she doesn't. LOL I'm down 40lbs and alot of inches I can't wait to see what the next 3 months brings.

did my band slip or something???????
MsButterKup23 replied to Amos's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you haven't had a fill then yes that is completely normal. I didn't feel like I had a band at all after about 3 weeks postop until after my 1st fill. -
You can do it!! I had a horrible case of "last supper syndrome" and I gained about 20lbs between my consult in April until my surgery in early August!! Best of luck to you with your surgery!

Mine told me to wait 2 years for my weight to stabilize before getting pregnant again.

Just curious if 3 days of liquids followed by another 3 days of Soup, yogurt and liquids are the norm. Thanks!

I have no problems with sodas, I just take "lady sips" and make sure I give it time to drain before the next sips, so no gulps. My doctor does NOT allow carbonation, but it doesn't hurt me and what he doesn't know doesnt' hurt him.

Sorry you are suffering from this. I know that we are having to give up our "friend" food and that's tough. I also know that anytime your nutritional values change drastically you can go through a depression. Your body has no idea what is going on and it can cause depression and chemical imbalances. I've been on antidepressants since right after my daughter was born due to postpartum depression so I kept an eye on my moods to make sure I didn't go through anything horrible after surgery. If this continues I would seriously seek help. Counseling and perhaps medication can do wonders if you are able to give it a chance. ((((((HUGS)))))

Hi! I had my daughter in October, 2004. When I got pregnant I weighed 302lbs. I had no problem getting pregnant, but I've always had regular cycles. I used the Clear Plan Easy Fertility Monitor because I wanted to get preggers really quickly. It took me 2 months to get preggo. I made it through the first 16 weeks or so with no problems whatsoever. I was very happy that I had made it through without getting morning sickness when it hit. From that point on (when most ppl get over the morning sickness in the 1st trimester) I threw up at least once a day. Even a week after my baby was born I was still suffering from morning sickness due to hormones!! I ended up losing around 40lbs during my pregnancy due to nausea/vomiting and my baby being up so high. I literally couldn't eat that much for about 2 months before she was born because if I did I got sick (kinda like a band!). The only piece of advice I can give you is if you are healthy and want a baby go for it. I had no complications. I did however end up with a c-section due to failure to progress after 18 hours of labor, but I think that could happen to just about anyone regardless of their weight. The most important thing you can do is take prenatal Vitamins BEFORE YOU GET PREGNANT to make sure you get enough folic acid to prevent birth defects and find a size friendly provider. You need someone to support you and provide proper medical care not critize you for your weight. You can check out: http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/firstindex.html I love this website!! It has information about pregnancy and a list of size friendly providers. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Best wishes to you!!

Depressed and ready to give up
MsButterKup23 replied to tomorrowsdream's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That was exactly what I was thinking, there shouldn't be anything illegal about that!! Don't give up!! Your life is too important to give up! -
As Alexandra pointed out this is normal. I lost pretty quickly right after surgery, but the minute I introduced solids I gained 5lbs!! Not to worry this time is about healing and you will lose weight after you get fills. Congrats on your banding!
