Hi Melissa!!! I know you. Good to see ya here girl! -
How do you get your powdered protein to dissolve?
MsButterKup23 replied to SherryW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hubby and I found that GNC has a plastic cup with a lid that mixes. All you do is shake. It's white with a red lid and is around $10. It works great! -
I like Isopure Peanut Butter & Chocolate Swirl. It has 50 grams of protein. Sometimes I just mix 1/2 and drink it and drink the rest of it later.

Good luck!! I'm sure you will do great. I know about the sleepless nights before surgery. I too never sleep before surgery. -
Help me find a Doctor in the DFW area
MsButterKup23 replied to Janie Jackson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you checked with Dr. Maese? I know he takes some from his uncle in MX. Who did your surgery? -
on Monday (hopefully). He is going to use the same doctor I did. I hope he has the same wonderful experience I did. Everyone that used SCOR did you have a good experience? I was banded at Renissance (sp) Hospital. I have used SCOR for fills and have been happy... Please keep him in your thoughts... I have the jitters and it's not even me having the surgery.

how much have you paid SINCE banding?
MsButterKup23 replied to shellyj.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am very fortunate that Microsoft paid 100% for my surgery and fills. -
antidepressants/psych meds?

Update on me: The Lexapro quit working, which I know is a common occurance. I got weaned off it while starting up Zoloft. I am now at 100mg of Zoloft and feeling pretty good. From what I understand Zoloft is a better long term drug than Lexapro. My medical doctor said that she no longer prescribes Lexapro because it does seem to lose effectiveness after a person has been taking it a while and they always had to up the dose. She likes Zoloft a lot better than Lexapro for her patients. -
I am doing great. I just had my 3rd fill this past week, I have no idea how much I have in my band at the moment. I am down 60lbs and feeling pretty good. I really needed this last fill for about a month because I was able to eat waaaay tooo much, but I decided to wait until after the holidays to get it so my weight loss really slowed down. My rings are getting way too loose on me, I am going to have to get my wedding set sized and I am down from a tight 24 (2x) to 16/18 (XL). My hubby is getting banded on the 16th!! So he can join the fun of bandland soon!

I am getting ready to head out for fill #3. I have needed this one for a while, but was a bad girl to wait so that I could enjoy my holidays (meaning holiday foods). The holidays are gone so it's time to get back on track with the band. My weight loss has been slowing down to about 5lbs a month so it's time. Hopefully I've lost enough weight that they don't have to dig for my port.

The Surgery Center of Richardson says 3 days of liquids, then 3 days of mushies.

Rate of weight loss preband/postband
MsButterKup23 replied to lildarlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know someone will want to slap me for this.. I have been overweight since I can remember. I was a size 20 in the 8th grade. I've tried a diet here and there, but nothing for long periods of time as I had NO willpower. I have lost weight quickly with the band. The last month has been slow, but I knew I needed another fill but waited until after the holidays were over so that I can enjoy some good holiday foods. I have lost almost 60lbs since August, 2005. I'm happy with my progress. I think because I really didn't diet that much (if any) in the past 5 years my metabolism wasn't shot and that's why I am losing. Yo-yo dieters eventually screw up their metabolism. Best of luck to everyone! -
Possible Clothing Swap for Texas LBTs...
MsButterKup23 replied to banded_for_life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds great... I'll set it up in my calendar to remind me. Even if we can just get together and talk (since we all need about the same size) that would be nice. -
Nice to see ya here!!! I hope you find the answers to all your questions.

I know I sound like a broken record, but you are still in the healing phase, it's about healing not losing weight right now. Generally you won't lose weight on mushy's.

Can't See The Good, for The BAD
MsButterKup23 replied to MyKdsDad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hope she gets to feeling better soon. I know the first week or two can certainly be difficult. I am a happy bandster if that's any help. -
I can't believe that friend didn't know better. Did the friend know she had WLS?
-
I believe, (may not be right) 2 are for instruments 1 is for the port 1 is for the camera and the last one is for the liver retractor

Those of you who are banded, do you exercise?
MsButterKup23 replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a membership at Curves that I haven't used in a couple months. I really need to go, you know the story. I do shop a lot so I walk the malls a lot, but it's during shopping so I dunno if that counts. My 15 month old is going back to daycare next week so I will have an open schedule to go back to Curves. I'm also getting a fill next week so that always motivates me. -
I know they just started doing LapBand here in TX.. traditionally they pushed GB. That might be why it's hard to find someone who has used them.

My Port Infections and Erosion Story
MsButterKup23 replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks, that would be my next step personally if something happened and I lost my band. -
to fill or not fill - that's my ?
MsButterKup23 replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's the same thing my doctor told me. I have lost probably 2-3 lbs in the past month. I decided to wait until after the holidays to get a fill. Mine is on Jan. 3rd. -

I went and had my teeth cleaned today. The dentist made me take 2,000mg of Amoxicillin as a precaution before they would start cleaning my teeth because I am banded. Anyone else hear of this?

Did you do a barium swallow after surgery?
MsButterKup23 replied to Anwyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I barely remember my barium swallow (30 minutes after waking up)...mostly wondering why the heck they got me up to drink this nasty stuff...lol
