Do people still recognize you?
Cairobat replied to pinkbunies's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yep! I went to a concernt where I knew a bunch of old friends that I hadn't seen in a long time would be. Two of them did not recognize me at all! It was a surreal, but fun, experience! -
I went back to drinking caffinated coffee at approximately 4.5 - 5 mos. out. No problems so far.

I am just a few weeks past 6 mos. and I have nearly reached my goat weight, too. And like you, I am considering moving my goal weight to 130. My calves are still too big to wear normal boots, and I'm just not going to be happy until they are! So, I am just going to keep on keepin' on, and let that new goal arrive. No stress, just working the tool. (That being said, if I never lose another ounce, I am still deliriously happy with my weight loss!)

Disney parks are totally cool with you bringing your own food, so you should be able to stay on soft foods and not risk hurting anything/feeling sick/etc. The only downside is that you have to haul it around with you.

What are your favorite things to wear now that the weight is gone?
Cairobat replied to abbyrn27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love my flirty little skater skirts. My butt used to be way too big to wear them, now they just look perfectly cute! -
My lunch bag is a sad place right now

Trader Joe's sells a very good Low Carb chocolate bar called "Simply Lite". I have maybe one per month. The sugar alcohols can have a laxitive effect, so it acts as built in moderation for me. -
What do YOU order at Starbucks?
Cairobat replied to LightlyMyDarling's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My weekly Starbucks treat is a Venti decaf house coffe with SF Hazelnut syrup and half & half. Approx 80 calories for a big ol' 20 oz serving. -
I'm doing LCHF. I credit eating coconut oil fat bombs right before bed with breaking my stall.

What are you excited for?
Cairobat replied to Brn2blossom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am looking forward to wearing boots and single-digit clothing! -
I have found that Ross prices are so good, they sometimes beat Goodwill! Why not have a new coat for less than used?
-
Yeah, and I'm really glad it's not just me, so thanks for posting this. For some reason, I am afraid of being a "thin person". I have been overweight so long and for some reason I am still psychologically holding on to my old identity. I even go so far as to sabotage myself sometimes, but fortunately I pull myself out of it before I do much harm.

I am two years out and I need help!
Cairobat replied to Sleeved831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For whatever it's worth, my surgeon's plan is almost exactly as Lipstick Lady described, and for the exact reasons. Additionaly, the advice to go back to the beginning is what we're told as well. Best of luck! -
Foods spicier after surgery?
Cairobat replied to auntiemel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed this, too. And not being able to drink while eating doesn't help matters! I still love spicy food, though, and thankfully have not been having an issue with heartburn. Can you take Protonix for the reflux? -
New jackets and/or coats?
Cairobat replied to Texasmeg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I bought a really cute coat at Ross for less than $20.00. I haven't needed a coat in years, but without my extra 100 lbs of "insulation", I am freezing! -
A question about v8 juice
Cairobat replied to alyce20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What stage are you at? If you're full liquids, I'd say go for it, but otherwise I'd leave it be. The calories don't contribute enough Protein to be worth it, IMHO. -
I'm a drinker....a gulper...a 4 glass kind of drinker during meals....
Cairobat replied to optasia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, here's the bad news - you'll have to give up drinking with meals. Most doctors recommend that you wait AT LEAST 30 minutes after your meal before you consume any liquids due to the "funnel effect" of the liquid pushing food out of your pouch (where you want it to make you feel full) into your intestine. I wait an hour. But the good news is, getting lots of fluids is highly encouraged. And as for diet sodas, which I used to love - I got a really lucky break! One day, they just didn't taste good anymore. -
Warning TMI Post! :D
Cairobat replied to gregthegroove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have my first BM until day 13. It was the worst 90 minutes of my life. I had to go take a nap afterwords. No joke. -
Curiosity. .how long is everyone's 1st phase
Cairobat replied to nonnax2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three days on clear liquids followed by two weeks on full liquids. After that comes soft solids until I'm advanced at my three month post-op appointment. My plan dropped the puree stage because apparently nobody was following it. -
Please answer one more time
Cairobat replied to vincereautmori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think my week 3 stall lasted 7-10 days. I don't remember. After the stall broke, i started my current trend of losing ~.5 lb/day or 3-4 lbs/wk. It was frustrating, but it passed! -

Difficulty Identifying Final Goal Weight
Cairobat replied to Andrew0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is precisely how I chose my goal weight. When I get there, I will just re-evaluate my goal based on my overall health, how I feel, and how I look (in that order). I suspect I will want to go about 10lbs lower, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. -
Major Social Functions - How do you handle it?
Cairobat replied to MommyMeghan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a tought one! Are you expected to be seated for dinner? (My wedding was super casual - sit where want, eat if you want) If not, can you just kinda walk around with some food on a plate? If you keep on the move, nobody can tell how much you've eaten. -
Rest in peace to my boobies. I'll miss them dearly.
Cairobat replied to truberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty bummed out about my shrinking boobies. I've still got a while to go on this journey, but I may buy myself some new ones in the end.
