@@Beni Sounds great I fixed up a 2nd bedroom that had been a junk room. Bought a recliner, a CD player & set up up affirmations strategically throughout the room a tv & lots of pillows & throws I call it my oasis. In another 4 weeks I'll add my free weights & yoga mat so I can exercise here. I do share the room with our Boston Terrier but he's nothing but a comfort. Your going to love your "Oasis"

Morning Gladiators. Well I had my 1week Followup yesterday I met with the RN and they went over the Providers notes from the Surgery and showed me the Xray from the "Esophagram taken 1 day PostOp, reviewed my PostOp Meds and then did a wound check. The report was I'm doing Great! The RN removed the remaining dressings so all 5 incision sites are uncovered and I can take a full shower now. I still have a dissolving stitch in 4 out of 5 sites for the Laparoscopic surgery but they should dissolve by the time I go back in 4 weeks to see my surgeon. Otherwise their healing nicely. Meds they told me I could move to " as needed" for 2 of the nausea meds ( Reglan & Levisin) and the pain med. I had stopped the pain med last Tuesday don't want to get depended on Oxycodone and the pain is pretty much gone. They want me to continue & finish the bottle of "Omeprazole" aka Prilosec. That med reduces the acid in my new tiny stomach because your body is still producing the same amount of acid as your stomach got before surgery. I've seen some of you struggling with stomach pain that "could" be the culprit too much acid. I was told in about 6 weeks my body should be better able to regulate itself and I can stop taking Prilosec but not yet. I'm really happy to cutback on the meds I hate taking medicine and it was becoming a pain getting all the PostOp meds in. So now I'm down to My Multivitamin 2 a day, Calcium 2x a Day and my regular allergy meds only. ( I Re-Read my med list the day before my Appointment and discovered I was miscalculating my calcium. They want me on 1,000 mg and I wasn't focusing that each chewable wafer was only 250 so now I'm taking 4 wafers a day - 2 in the am 2 in the pm. It was a good reminder to myself to not get over confidant. They also said they will likely put me on B12 liquid Vitamin if I need it but not yet. We reviewed my liquid intake and I'm not doing bad averaging about 32 ounces of Water and sugar free drinks crystal light tea, tomato juice plus the Protein drinks. But they want me to focus on increasing to get 64 ounces in. My water AP is great so I could confidently say what my intake was. But I wasn't including " all liquids " in my count so I will going forward and probably find I'm doing better than I thought. Boy seeing the x-ray was amazing I was so focused on getting the contrast down the day they took it so didn't really look at it then. But seeing it yesterday was amazing. My stomach is so little more like a long crooked finger than a stomach. The RN says it will stretch but I defiantly have a perfect stomach for weight loss. The curve was perfect jus like all the books I read PreOp and the the contrast flowed perfectly and pooled at the bottom before exiting to the intestines. I got one surprise during my appointment apparently I had a hernia in my diaphragm small but a hernia all the same so my surgeon stitched it close. Could have been caused by GERD & then aggravated by being overweight. So I actually got a two-fer ????. Seeing the x-ray was amazing & also a good visual reminder that there is no going back and I better use the next 18 months to lose this weight and learn how to MAINTAIN!!!! No more "YOYO Dieting for ME! My only remaining PostOp issues are I wake up so darn early now 4:30am, 5:30am the latest 6;30am. I took this time off from my business to recovery & set up a system that works so I don't need to get up so early right now. Also I feel like I'm breathing differently & sometimes I have to stop and make myself take a deep yoga like breath to feel right. The RN said if I'm still having the sleeping problem when I come back I can get a script but I hate meds I ll try more walking reading a book & such first. The breathing issue is a common one PostOp so it will get better. After & before the Appointment my husband walked me all over the place first to Starbucks so he could get coffee I miss my Chai tea. I took a lunch box with a freezer pak so I could to tote my water & Protein with me everywhere. Then post appointment we headed to a restaurant cause he was starving. He has been with me every step of the way for this process so I give him a pass for having me go to restaurants and watching him eat. I actually had tomato Soup & unsweetened ice tea. I won't tell you what he had but it was a regular American over sized plate. My husband is basically thin so he can eat what he wants within reason. Once I start cooking full meals he's going to lose 20 LBS. LOL. Anyway I walked over 8 thousand steps and I slept well last night. My next appointment is with my Primary in about a week and then I return in November to meet with the Surgeon All & all a very good Day!

@lexieLuv. I' like you had experienced very little anesthesia mostly "twilight" sleep for a couple GYN procedures & having my Tonsils out as a child. This anesthesia is the real thing but it's all good. I work in the OR all the time & I have learned to ask questions. For me the more I know & get a sense of the folks in the room the more relaxed I. Am. If that's not you that's fine too. You'll be fine here's some Questions to ask your Anesthesia team. How many times have you worked with this Surgeon? Do I have a difficult airway? If so what precautions will you take because of it. ( I had a bad interaction for one of Gyn procedures raspy forever post and loopy for day & 1/2 post.) that was before I learned to ask ? During my surgery I requested a Strip Monitor on my forehead so they could monitor my brain activity. Also I asked for the pain patch behind my ear that lots of folks swear by on this site to stave off nausea on PostOp but the Doc said unless I get motion sneakiness ( I don't) he wanted to go for a mix of drugs based on my weight & past reactions. Who will be in the room the entire procedure for anesthesia? The anesthesia Doc, a CRNA ( Certified RN in Anesthesia) or a Resident? How much training have they had? For me I had the best anesthesia reaction ever I was raspy for about an hour only and more tired than loopy after an hour. Good Luck!

Hello Gladiators. On my way to my 1 week Followup this afternoon. Will update later.

For all of us PostOp. I believe the decision to have VSG was the best decision for me. For my health and to become the me I've always wanted to be on the outside. I will never forget seeing my Beloved GodMother always over weight once full of energy either working in her garden growing the most incredible veggies or in her kitchen making amazing dessert. However, now in her 80's full of pain walking with a cane more than 100 pounds overweight on her 5ft 4 frame. I saw her one last time in her late 90's using a two legged walker now- having lost a leg below the knee still cheerful but now every step was a major effort. She made it to 100 I'm convinced her giving spirit is what helped her achieve a birthday of 100. Yet she was unable to fulfill her dreams because instead of taking care of herself she got sicker & sicker. To lose my extra weight likely 110 pounds of it so I can enjoy my life that's my goal. Inch by inch, pound by pound and KEEP IT OFF that's my commitment to Me!

Hey friend while most of us focus on the scale let's not forget about inches. This week I tossed a pair of size 22 jeans into a donation bag never to be worn again & today It hit me my Bra was way to big. It felt like over nite I had all this extra room. Low & behold I search thru some boxed up stuff & discovered I could fit one 2 inches smaller. Yippee! Then to add to my joy my husband looks at me & says he can tell I'm losing weight already. Then he reminds me not to lose too much. LOL I asked what would be two much & he reached way back to The British model "Twiggy". Like that would happen.... The smallest I've ever been was a size 14 so unlikely to have that issue. I'm just gonna do my happy dance down to the kitchen to fill up my water pitcher again ????????????????

@@Beni I started feeling heavy in the plumbing 5 days after &first tried to increase my Water but no change so I took the Prune Juice & OJ on the 6 Th day by the next I was fine. Good Luck Beni????????????????????????????

Best Learned PostOp Tricks 1. download a Water AP so I get reminders & can track intake. 2. Drink 2OZ's of natural PRUNE juice mixed with1OZ OJ instead of Colace or Milk of Magnesia. It Works!!! 3. TiVo my favorite shows & watch only on playback so I can skip over food commercials 4. Weigh only once a week so I don't go crazy focusing on the scale too much. 5. Each day exercise Walking is best, & don't forget my fitBit or pedi meter a few steps more each day. Even if it's around the living Room ????????????????????????????????????

@ @@AuriP Try & think of it as intermission before the Main Act Starts. Once you start again the Spotlight will be on you because the lost will be so amazing you will have to deal with a slew of new challenges all Good. Like donating clothes, constant compliments feeling chilly in the winter and so on and so on. ???? I don't know about you but a pause is nothing compared to the long-'term loss of the weight!

@walkinonsunshine I'am 5ft 6inches and by the way I bought two pairs of skinny girl sweat pants last night that I'am gonna wear Christmas morning to open my gifts and go ice skating in. I'am originally from the Midwest and grew up ice skating I just love it.????. But for years avoided it because my feet just throbbed on the single blade every time I tried to skate with all this weight. ⛄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️???? I love ice skating & might even try cross country skiing ????

So I weighed myself this morning one week after my surgery. I realized last night out with my husband for some quick shopping that my size 22 pants were pretty big. That Fat brain is still working???? So here are my stats One week ago on my Surgery Day. I weighed 244.5 and today I'm 236.9 Lbs. That's 7lbs in one week!!!! But even better news. Back in August being the planner & organizer I'am I decided to just track my food intake using "MyFtnessPal.com an AP I love. I was amazed at how much sodium some of my food choices contained despite being low Cal so I started choosing something else. So from the end of August until I started my PreOp liquids that's all I did. Well because of that on Surgery Day I had lost 10pds using the AP and 10Pds doing the PreOp liquid Diet. Soooooooo get Ready Gladiators ......... All together I went from 264 pounds my highest weight ever in Life to 244.5 on Surgery Day. That's means I lost 27.1 Lbs all together & this time thanks to VSG I'm never, never going back!!! So take that Fat Brain????????☺️
