So I had a long conversation with my Best Girlfriend (BFF)tonight she has been very supportive but worried throughout the year I researched Bariatric surgery, finding my surgeon, going thru Pre-Op, the VSG surgery and the beginning of my Post-Op. She was worried for months a mutual friend died after Bariatric surgery back in 2001. My BFF & I have been on countless diets together over the years & often I would try something or she would and soon the other would try it. Somehow she always carried her weight abit better then me finding stylish clothes. But Today I realized my decision is going to challenge our friendship of more than 40 years. Her daughter even told her god-mommy is going to leave you because she's going to get skinny. I told her I was concerned about my weight loss slowing down I only lost 3LBS this week and that I figured a stall was coming eventually. She told me she knows I am going to lose the weight because I had my stomach cut, how could I not. And after all at 264 LBS 5f 6inch I wasn't really overweight according to her. And I only had a CPAC machine and I was only pre-diabetic not diabetic. And as I told her about all the reading I'm doing about making better food choices, choosing more nutritions food and not being an emotional eater. She said but you don't get hungry they cut that out. ComeOn be real she told me be real you "cheated" So it not like your losing weight the "natural" way. What????? I've known her since we were Kids & I think will get thru this but I was/ am over weight. I was huffing and puffing after waking a block,my feet throbbed after a day at work. I hated the CPAC. I was getting Bronchitis every couple months, I was diagnosed Pre Diabetic.0, I could barely walk up a set of stairs. I Was miserable. This surgery was my answer and I did " not cheat".I chose to go under the knife and everyday I choose what I put in my mouth. Yes the pouch keeps me down to 1/2 cup at one time but I choose a Protein shake over a ice cream shake. I sip Water all day & not juice or soda pop. Yes I have an amazing tool but it's my decision and my actions that get me out the door everyday to walk almost 3 miles. And it's my actions that will get me to my goal weight and a whole lot of daily actions that will enable me to achieve that elusive Golden Egg - Lifetime Maintenance. I so hope my BFF will be with me when I do.

@@Beni tried mashed potatoes and felt stuck had to wait an hour in discomfort before I could drink anything. I love soup particularly the Progresso light soup " hearty tomato is delicious"

I can eat sugar free rice pudding no problem but mashed potatoes were a problem last week. I'm coming to the end of my puréed weeks just 5 more days. I ate a little tuna without grinning it all up & added a little relish. Tuna fish was my life long favorite so really missing having the chunky taste. I went out with my husband for Asian & had noodles with broccoli & tofu without eating the broccoli. I was able to eat only about 1/4 cup compared to my usually 1/2 to 1 cup at one meal. I'm gonna try a little bit of salmon with some baby food veggies & turkey. More so because I bought 2 bottles of baby food early on & might as well try one. So looking forward to adding regular food next week one at a time. It's not that I'm hungry just missing real chewing. I'm getting in about 38 to 48 ounces of liquid a day so not too bad. Each week making progress with food intake but worrying about weight loss slow down. Trying to increase my walking I did 3 miles and over 11,000 steps yesterday making me sleep well last night. It poured today so just caught up on my TiVo. Tomorrow it's back to walking

@Bronxmerci. So sorry your having so many challenges I'd be pissed too after all the high expectations. But I gotta believe you did the surgery because you wanted to conquer this weight issue once and for all. Your gonna get thru this and when you do you gonna be on your way to better health & a better you able to be the better parent. So know this your going to get there just hang in now. This time will pass. We got you! @@layknee sounds like a call to your surgeon may be the answer if nothing else to R/O all those things your thinking it might be. And if needed have them get you some antibiotics & maybe a new dressing. Hope you get answers and feel better soon!

@amylynns. What about liquid Motrin? Hope you feel better!

Thanksgiving comes every year doesn't it. Once you have surgery you will never eat like you did before.... If you want to keep the weight off. So how bad do you want to be healthy & lose the weight?

@@Beni I love your list! Particularly enjoyed reading it as a reminder that I'm in this for the long- term. My Overweight brain tried to mess with my confidence today after 2 weeks of losing 10LBS each week I only loss 3& 1/2 this week. Maybe the losing is slowing down but it took me the morning to get my head back straight. To realize losing is way better than gaining. So here's my additions to your list Sitting in an airplane seat and having room to pull the regular seat belt tighter Wearing heals when I want to Seeing my shoulder bones again Going ice skating & enjoying it

-
@smiley933. Wow 20 yrs........ You Go Girl!!!! Hey there's nothing like sliding into a smaller size but 2 sizes down fantastic Congrats!!!!
-
@kimodell69. Be careful cutting your pain Meds too soon. When was your procedure? Your body needs to heal & the pain med help that. Unless it's been 8 days postOp or it makes you sick of follow the frequency on the script.

@amylynns. Your in the best place to make sure all is fine. Sending all good wishes!!!

You/We Got This!

Ok I'm curious how tall are you & what's your BMI?
-
@smiley922. A 1/2 cup combined of everything & liquids 30 mins before or after never with that is what I've been eating at one time. I find tuna fish ground up, cottage cheese and eggs are pretty much my meal. I tried mashed potato and no matter how much liquid I added just didn't agree with me. The only veggie I've had is veggie creme cheese in a egg salad recipe my NUT gave me. After my spinach incident I'm gonna wait till next week to try ground veggies.

@marie. Ok my surgeon said nothing above 10lbs for 6 weeks postOp so you may be right weights as the source of your pain
-
@@marie do you have nausea or acid reducing meds? If so are you taking per the prescription? Likely the cause of your fluttering pain

Maybe I'll get to the November meeting. Hope all is well I'm feeling good started purée food this week & up to walking 2 miles a day. I be gone from a size 22 pant to 18. Hope I can keep losing at a steady pace thru the end of year but expecting a stall. But it's the marathon not the sprint right!????????????????????????
