WLS has made me a judgemental jerk!

Not "forcing religion" on anyone. Just offering it as advice.

WLS has made me a judgemental jerk!

JTickle, I'll reiterate, if you don't like what you see in those women.....offer to help them, build them up, and encourage them. Don't you think that would be better than sitting back and dragging them through the dirt on this forum? If you're seeking advice on this forum, you've gotten it: talk to your therapist and tell them the mood swings, the feelings of being judgmental, etc that you're feeling. They are far more qualified to help you than a lot of us are. Pray and seek God. There is joy in The Lord. A lot of the moodiness can be altered by a relationship with Jesus.

WLS has made me a judgemental jerk!

I'm a Christian so I'm going to throw a Christian phrase at you: humble yourself. I'm still preop so I don't know what kind of reactions physically and mentally me and my body are about to experience but I pray to God it doesn't make me a mean person because meanness is an ugly thing. The two women at the the gym, try encouraging them, or working with them. They may not have the funds or the support to consider WLS, but they've made a conscious decision to get the gym and try rather than sit at home and snack. It's not about them working hard, it's about them at least being there and working what they have. I wish you the best on your journey. Just remember, that therapist is there for a reason and if your attitude and mood is poor, than they need to know that or there may be consequences for it.

    Almost there!

Good luck to you, too, Moose! Definitely an exciting time coming up! I'm so ready!

    Almost there!

Thank you and good luck to you as well! What is the cancellation policy on cruise lines regarding refunds. I'd get out of going on my cruise if I could to go ahead and have surgery lol.

Why or how are you "feeling bad"?
  7. The reason I'm personally planning to return in one week is because I work as a scribe in a doctors office and am out of vacation until November. I can afford to miss one pay check but I'm not entertaining that thought. If my surgeon says I can return in one week, then for financial purposes, I will.
  8. I'm in a similar boat, but I plan on returning to work about a week or week and a half. I can hurt at home or hurt at work and get paid lol. As long as my surgeon is ok with me going back, I will.
  9. A friend of mine has pancreatitis and she said if it's caught in time it's treatable/curable, but if not, it becomes a chronic issue. Not sure if this is confirmed or not but if so hopefully yours was caught in time !
  10. Was told my insurance is taking 3-7 days to approve and my surgeon is scheduling 1-2 weeks out.

    September surgeries?

Yeah, I mean, I'm fine with the decision. I have to lose at least 105lbs just to get to the upper end of a healthy BMI, so, I'm content with my decision. Guilt may not have been the best word to use, but definitely an instance of second guessing myself. Overall I'm excited, and August 11th and 12th - the dates of my last preop tests - can't get here fast enough!

    September surgeries?

I'm on track for insurance submittal around August 15th. If I can have the surgery extremely early in September, and if my surgeon clears me for a cruise in October, then I'm hopefully a September surgery. I'm starting to have second thoughts.....I'm 5'8", 270lbs, with about a 41 BMI, but I'm starting to feel "guilty" for having the surgery. I have comorbidities (htn, sleep apnea, cholesterol, elevated a1c), but the ppl at my gastroenterologist visit pretty much told me they didn't think I should do it, saying I don't look big enough.

    Big Decision

Bypass. Just my opinion, but statistically bypass better helps resolve the diabetes and other systemic issues. It also helps you lose more weight faster. If weight was the only factor, VSG would be a good choice, but with the comorbidities, I'd opt for bypass, which is exactly what I'm doing.
  14. Best wishes on your journey! I started in March, debated for an extra month, then got the ball rolling in May. It's been quite a journey with the testing, but I've only got a couple more! You've come to the right place! My decision to have surgery was made easy by some folks on these forums.

    BCBS OF NC

Spoke with my case manager today and she said BCBS is currently averaging a 3-7 day approval period and that my surgeon is only scheduling 1-2 weeks out right now, so no massive wait period (yet). My last appts are August 11th and 12th then will be submitted to insurance!!
  16. I'm still pre-op but was curious: is there really a proven way to get rid of or hide stretch marks? I didn't realize how bad mine are until I looked today and if I'm going to have a new body, I want it to look as new as possible!

My last preop appts are August 11th and 12th then will be sumit to insurance. I want to keep Enochs.

O...M...G......I'm preop with Dr. Enochs and that makes my stomach churn that they have 600 ppl that will now be trying to have surgeries!!
  20. One of my preop appointments was with a gastroenterologist this past week. I have a history of heartburn and about a three years ago, had a massive episode of moderate to severe abdominal pain and uncontrollable vomiting. I was kept overnight in the local hospital for observation and had a hida scan done that next morning and later in the week an EGD. The hida showed gallbladder abnormalities, but they didn't remove it, and the EGD and showed gastritis, which I think came from that episode I had. Long story short, the gastroenterologist didn't immediately clear me for surgery, rather, I have to have another EGD and a colonoscopy in August. So, hopefully all goes well there. With me having such a history and with me having problems with reflux (I constantly take sips of pepto), I'm thinking I'm just gonna go ahead and do bypass. I ain't trying to make this junk worse, I want it better!

My surgeons office told me it could take up to 14 days to hear back. Best of luck! I'm hoping to be submitted around August 15th, give or take.

    Finally

Hoping to get sent out for insurance approval on 8/13 or 8/14 so I'll be right behind!
  23. Good luck, Becky! Sorry bout your complications, but hope the bypass helps! Im really leaning bypass, myself.
  24. My surgeons office offers support groups, but I honestly and mistakenly haven't taken advantage of it. I do read up on stuff online and on this forum and today at my gastroenterologist visit he told me he thought the sleeve would be a better choice for me. I'll talk to my surgeon at my next visit and get his opinion.
