Just curious, I had the flu last week (temp of 103, chills, vomiting the whole thing) this week I am trying to get back to normal. I don't seem to be able to keep solids such as lunch meat, chicken or pork from sliming back up. This occurs after chewing completely and after only 2-3 bites, could the band have slipped from my flu????? I have been banded since the middle of December and feel great other wise. any advice/stories or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

thank you Jack and Renee. I called the doctor but they did not seem too concerned, so far all I can eat is Soup. I tried a few crumpled crackers but felt them "back up" It's been like this for a week. It's my fortieth birthday tomorrow and I envisioned a nice dinner with my sweetie but I am scared to try anything more than liquids. I guess I need to call and be a little more forceful with the doc and asked to know what is going on. thanks again

Hi< I was banded the end of December and also get painful hiccups. I mentioned this at my three months appt and the doctor feels they are probably caused by eating too fast. I have to agree, i notice if I try and "get away" with eating on the run, I tend to get them more often. i would still mention it to your doctor at your next appt. Congratulations on your progress!!!!!

I have done the right thing, but right now three days out I have done nothing but cry today. I am tired, hungry grouchy and just sad. This is so not who I am. I am usually very positive and happy. Thank you for letting me vent. I am sure this is normal but I just need a "pep" talk. thank you all peace

hey all, I am close to 3 months pre op I have lost about 23 lb since surgery and 44 total since September. The last three weeks I have been having "major" hair loss. I have been taking my Vitamins and have been doing well with my Proteins, has anyone else had problems and what have you done to take care of it. Thank you. peace, spiffy in Seattle:crying: This is my worried face!

Thank you so much Wheetsin, I checked out the previous link and saw your posts there as well. I guess I was mislead to believe that if you were "suffering" trauma from surgery it would happen much sooner, seeing your post helps me to understand that my 3 months later is not that unusual. I had a hysterectomy at a very young young age and never suffered hairloss at that time, but I am in a much different "life pattern" so stress makes a but more sense as a cause. I am so lucky to have found this board. Is there, by chance, an archive of "what i wish I would have known..." type of issues? like a friend's guide to banding? This would be a perfect item to include. i did ask my doctor about hairloss prior to surgery because I had a friend who had Gastric bypass done and she had lost a lot of her hair, i was told this would not happen because my stomach could still absorb most nutrients, so even the doctors seem confused.

Thank you for the reassurance and good ideas about the vitamins and shampoo. It gets kinds scary to see so much hair on the shower floor each morning.

Caryn< I am so happy I found your thread. I was banded the end of December and have lost 21 pounds so far (I am finally looking at the 200's again ::glare: I was starting to get nervous the last week. I am in classes right now for my master's degree, teaching in a new classroom and have an active family,. I have been getting those old feelings to curb my stress by eating it away, I actually did go through the Taco bell drive-thru because "dammit I earned it" (I did just get one taco and a small lemonade but felt very defiant) I am going for my first fill on Tuesday and hope that i will be getting the full benefit of my new tool (I am very encouraged by what i have read about what a difference the fill makes) Good luck to all of you and i am feeling very lucky not to be in this alone Peace, spiffy in seattle p.s. how to you change the weight on your ticker? Do I have to create a new one or can I just update this one?

Hi, I was banded at the end of December and will be going in for my first fill, I am curious what to expect? Do I need to "liquid diet" before? When can I resume "normal" food? Will I finally feel more restriction? I am crazy busy working on my Master's degree and am wondering if I should plan a Friday in case I am sore the next day? I know I should be calling my doctor and asking the questions, but I haven't had time to call yet and I usually get more in depth answers from those who have actually had the procedure. Thank you in advance for your advice.:biggrin2: Peace, Spiffy

Yes, Anxiety is an evil thing!!! The anticipation is almost always worse than the reality. Thanks for your replies. Good luck on this journey we call life!!! Peace, Spiffy -
Hello all. Was banded on December 14th and feeling really great. I was at a New's party and got to talking to a lady who was also banded. She told me about a great place to get Medical Id bracelets (laurenshope.com) I was never told I needed one by my doctor. It does make sense though. What is the thought on this issue? do many of you wear them? She also mentioned she got a card from her dr. to show at restuarants stating she had surgery if they try to hassle her if she wants to order off the kids or senior menu? I had never heard of this. Happy new year to you all and a happy healthy 2008 peace, spiffy

I will be able to start my mushie blended stage on Saturday and was trying to prep a shopping list for my hunny. What blends well and tastes good? what is gentle on a newly banded tummy? what tastes the farthest from liquid ? I am an absolute sushi lover and having been craving that since waking up in recovery (I don't think this would work well blended though, I can wait until the real thing) any suggestions? peace Spiffy

It feels so good not to be alone in this. I haven't cried since Monday, I am still having a hard time drinking Water (it kinda burns) but I am physically feeling better (just very tired) I guess this is like withdrawal. normally when I would get the "ickies" (sad feelings) I would turn to food to push it down. I have since started writing in a journal. The last three days I have been writing down any thoughts or feelings I have instead of turning to the fridge, I know anyone reading it may think I have gone a bit looney but I feel better afterward. but these words aren't for anyone else but me. It is so nice to come here and feel so supported, I look forward to hearing about everyone's bandtastic results!!!! Peace, Spiffy

wow so many of my favorites...especially the refried Beans who would have thought I am also all over the avocado and cottage cheese music to my ears (and my taste buds) were any of you given a specific diet from your nutritionist? I have my one week follow up on Friday and i m taking this list with me. Thank you for all your great suggestions!:hungry: peace spiffy

Hey there, i was banded on the 14th and have been able to sleep on my tummy no problem (I asked the doctor before and after the surgery because this was actually a worry of mine) with my muscles being sore, I just feel a little like a turtle trying to "right" myself in the morning, I take it slow and may look silly but at least i am a well rested Silly. good luck to you Peace Spiffy

Thank you all so much for the positive feedback. I am feeling a little better. Aubrie, it was funny you mentioned hormones, I had a full hysterectomy at 36 and had to stop my hormone pills a month before surgery, no side effects during that whole time and now.... waterworks galore. and all those "Ill be home for Christmas.." commercials are doing me in. :think maybe it is just this time of the year. but today is a new day (same old liquid diet, but a new day ) hang in there to all my new "band" of brothers and sisters, I believe we are in for a great 2008!!!! peace Spiffy
