Vomiting and diarrhea , no fever or pain

At 13 days out, I would be going to the emergency room to be checked in...if you are vomiting w/diarrhea, you are in fact dehydrated as your body is unable to replenish Fluid intake. Just because you do not have any of the other symptoms does not mean that you are not dehydrated. please be checked out, chances are you will need iv fluids for a day. fell better soon

I didn't even make it out of phase 1 yet, lol I tried cream of chicken soup today(with protein added) and it went down so nicely. BUT I had the feeling that it was stuck thereafter and everything else I attempted to eat or drink also felt that they are stuck. So I am worried that no protein will slow loss and healing, but I have to make sure that I am well enough to advance to all phases. Best wishes to you as well

Dont worry about your protein intake right off. There was no way I could of taken in 70 - 80 grams of protein the first 6 weeks. My nut warned me about this also. By 6 weeks is when my protein intake increased to about 40 grams..then a couple of weeks later I was where I should be. ..70 to 75.

    Nervous about Psych Evaluation

I went into mine with a positive attitude, a good mood and a light heart. The questions were not too heavy laden...more so to see why I want the surgery and what I expected to get out of it (results wise) I answered honestly and truthfully. We talked about my education background, touched on some childhood issues but overall she was just concerned that I was lucid, competent to make this decision and had a clear, concise understanding of what I am doing. Easy Piece of cake...I was supposed to be there for 2 hours also (it wound up being 30 mins flat) BEST WISHES

    NOT ADAPTING TO PHASE 2...HELP!

Thanks Ladies, I was questioning if this was truly too soon to try such a heavy substance. The nurse just returned my call and stated that my stomach isn't ready(as some others are) so I have been restricted to Clear liquids only for the next few days and then reintroduce 1 new thing at a time every few days. Though the cream wheat is on my full list, I am moving it to the puree list.
  7. OK, I am 4 days post op..last night was my 1st night home from the hospital and I had some CRAZY dreams to say the least. I dreamed that I was home with all supports in place and once everyone left out of the door BAM, I ran into the kitchen and ate a whole stash of rice pilaf mixed with tomatoes and onions(this isn't even something that I would normally eat) I was soo convinced that I had sabotaged my sleeve, that I woke up in tears and anxiety. This is when I learned that it was a dream!. after calming down and talking with my hubby, I went back to sleep and continued similar dreams all night. Is it just me or has someone else experienced similar dreams?

    Clear Protein Suggestions

PRO NRG has a 4oz Protein Water that is sold at walgreens.(15g) it is pretty concentrated and yucky, so I diluted it with water to get it in. Isopure liquid Protein and the unjury products as listed above all seem to work for the clear liquid phase

    Hernia Pain? Help

unfortunately I had my gallbladder removed 4/12/13 only to discover 2 wks later that I had GERD and a hiatal hernia. THE PAIN IS ALMOST UNBAREABLE!! I did not have to have my surgery date moved up, rather than it was the incentive to have surgery for me. I literally had to cut out most foods in order to get a handle on things. no acidic foods, drinks, nothing spicy, no cabbage, greens, onions, tomatoes, carbonated drinks, ice creams...everything was disruptive. I found that once I cut these things out, the symptoms did not permanently dissipate , but I was able to live with them until my surgery. Only being 4 days out from surgery, I had my hernia repaired along with the sleeve. praying that things will be better for me now. Best wishes to you also

I was released yesterday morning and things have been moving forward. I declare and decree that things will remain good. trying to get as much fluid in as possible(though I am not yet close to the required 64oz) I think that I am keeping hydrated with decaf tea, popsicles, broth jello and crystal light

    Newbie!

I too suffer from asthma(since 9wks old) and pcos (diagnosed in 2010) I have been on steroids since a infant and i too gained weight as a result. I didn't feel that i ate a lot, as everyone would say that i ate like a bird when i would eat around them. Fact of the matter was that i was a boredom eater, did these underlying conditions contribute to my weight gain, yes...but it was also me who was snacking at night, eating the sweets over food, laying down and not doing any healthy alternatives to assist myself along the way. I had to deal with some serious realities and get honest with myself in order to have a success surgery with long term results. I WAS AN OVER EATER, i was in denial about that for years. I am not judging or saying that you are being dishonest, but the two go hand in hand...the steroids cause you to eat, the weight is VERY hard to get off after long term use. the PCOS does cause abdominal weight gain... the antecedent that still caused the obesity is food. (you can eat only 1 or 2x's per day, but what are you eating and what is the caloric intake at meal time) It would be sad to see you go through the surgery in hopes that it will assist you in an area that you allege not to have an issue in. You are still asthmatic, so how will the surgery be beneficial if you will still need to take steroids even afterwards? With your RA, how will you exercise now after the surgery? I pray that everything works out well for you on this journey...this forum has awesome support, advise and insight. BEST WISHES
  15. I would tell them as they are your parents(who is listed in the event of a medical emergency) Though i am grown, married and live in my own home...my mother just found out a week ago and i am having surgery in 11 hours. I simply told people that this was my choice, not their opinion hour. I refused to listen to what others had to say and i am TOTALLY ok with my decision. I am uncertain as to the type of relationship that you have with your parents, but if you call or visit them prior to surgery, perhaps you tell them that you would like to advise them of some choices you made...Best wishes to you

Pre Op Diet is killing me

I went through the same thing, its your mind playing tricks on you and attempting to sabotage your new choice...that's just it, A CHOICE, I had to keep reminding myself that this was my choice not a diet but a lifestyle change and I am committed to it. I cheated, kept creating excuses and finally I had to write a goodbye letter to my old self/habits/ways with food and reestablish control...ITS MY CHOICE, MY LIFE, MY DESIRE AND I REFUSE TO LET FOOD OVERPOWER MY WILL TO BE HEALTHY! I am having surgery in the morning and believe it or not I avoided temptation and stuck to my liquids today. I have to make the decision to give myself and this tool a chance, I do not want to stick to the evil I know...it isn't comforting me, its killing me. Best wishes to you on your journey and remember this is your choice, an act of love not desperation.

    I Still Hate Pictures

Though I have not had surgery yet, my cousin dealt with this issue. She was able to recognize that the weight was coming off and liking the results BUT when she would take pictures, the image that she sees in pictures was not lining up to the one that she had in her head at the time. No matter how much she list, she saw fault...she was diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder and had to see a therapist to help her overcome her issue. I pray that you can learn to embrace your photos the same way that you do when you look in the mirror. You are beautiful and the metamorphosis is in full swing. Keep up the good work
