Hi Everyone!
I am excited to have joined this page to find the support I have been looking for. I am 49 years old and live in NJ. I will be celebrating my 25 year wedding anniversary in March with my husband. I also have 2 children which will both be turning 18 & 21 years old this year. And I will be turning 50 this year myself! Come Aug this year I will become an empty nester with both my kids in college. AND my nice and nephew are both engaged and we will be having 2 weddings coming up in addition to my sons high school graduation. LOTS GOING ON!

I have finally come to terms that it is time I take care of myself. I have been overweight all of my adult life. I even lost 40 lbs for my wedding as a 23 year old in 1989. The weight always came back to me no matter which diet I was on. And I have done some very crazy ones.

Last year I did research on the LapBand and found out as awesome as my husbands insurance is they have an exclusion to Bariatric surgery. I ended up just forgetting about it because I was so disappointed and knew the Catholic school and college tuition I have was using all our family finances.

In the last week of January this year I went to two different seminars here in NJ to think about the possibility for self pay for the VSG. the doctors here are around $24,000. With Much disappointment we do not have the extra finances to cover that and with college loans for almost 2 a loan was/is out of the question.

Which brings me here to this message board. I have done a bunch of research and am VERY CLOSE to booking a Gastric Sleeve with Dr. Ariel Ortiz in Mexico from the OCC.

I would love for anyone who is willing to share their experiences withe me. Most recent would me BEST. Anything for the trip details, to scary things, to your weigh loss totals.
