should i be worried about herina repair
AmyV replied to Mytime45's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too had a hiatal hernia that dr didn't know about before surgery. Let me tell you, the weight loss on the sleeve is remarkable (24 lbs in 3.5 weeks) but the lack of acid reflux is even more amazing!!! I've been able to add hot sauce to my food and haven't been affected at all!! It's so great!! I have had issues with pain at the larger incision, but that is starting to lessen. -
Sharp pain at wound site - 3 weeks post
AmyV replied to AmyV's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm starting to think this may have some possibility. My skin in the area of the pain has what looks to be stretch marks (this is one area I didn't have them at) and when I brush my hand over them they are tender. It's like when I have the pain in stretching the skin and flesh in that area. Get this: I can do a sit up but I can't bend over without the searing pain.....I'm at a loss. -

Saw pain management doctor. He gave me a lidocaine patch and a pain drug that's not as strong as dilaudid. He too thinks it's muscular, said there's no major nerves in this area. This combo should work and allow me to live again!! And I am now home to rest better!!! -

Insurance wants me out today. Love how they have never met me and have no clue the pain I'm in with no solution but they still want me out. I just want a solution before I go home. Pain has minimized to a central area below my largest scar on the left. But standing and sitting are still painful without help. Waiting for pain management doctor. -

Still in hospital. Surgeon is stumped. Tomorrow I'll see a pain management specialist and then get to go home. They think it could be a nerve near the larger incision site and when I move a certain way it pinched the nerve. If this is the case I'm unsure how that affects me long term. The pain today was reduced significantly, I could at least lie still and not feel it. But trying to get out of bed, sit down, cough or laugh sent me into around of excruciating pain. We will see what tomorrow holds. Thank you so much for asking!! -

Well they've done a CT scan and upper GI and tons of blood work and they haven't found anything wrong. That's the good news. The bad news is they haven't found anything wrong... Surgeon is keeping me overnight for observation and pain management. -

At ER, just had abdominal CT scan. Pain got so severe I couldn't take a deep breath. Surgeon is checking for leak. I've been on liquids for 3 weeks. Last Sunday my son complained his chicken tasted funny and I (without thinking) took a bite. I hope this isn't because of that! -
Had surgery 2/26 and am still in liquid phase. Husband made last minute plans with friends for dinner. I was a bit freaked out. I drank half a protein shake on the way to the restaurant and then ordered a cup of corn chowder. It ended up being more chunky than I expected but I was able to skim the broth off the top and act normal. Friends commented wondering if soup was ok and I just let them know I was eating a lot less these days. I SURVIVED!!! And I'm a cheap date at $2.99!!!

I just had surgery so cannot speak from experience, but I did share this exact concern with my doctor as it was my husbands biggest concern also. The doctor did say there were ways they could help someone put back on some weight also. I don't know what the method is, but I would definitely suggest seeing a doctor about it. I realize what a pain that is after moving, but this is really important to your overall health and future!! I hope you get some good answers from others too!!! Take care of yourself!!

Sleeve surgery was two weeks ago today. I've lost a total of 17 lbs, but from yesterday to today I've gained a pound! I realize it's only one pound but this early on I had hoped never to see the scale go in the opposite direction! I didn't weigh every day on other diets, but this one is different, this is a new lifestyle and very exciting!!! Wondering how many early on weighed everyday? And if you don't/didn't how do you stay away from the scale?!?

Okay guys this was delicious added to my chocolate protein shake!!! Thanks so much for the recommendation!!

1.5 weeks out, first restaurant trip
AmyV replied to AmyV's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, between the small portions and no alcohol my hubby is thinking of taking me out more!! Haha! Thanks for all the positive comments. I love that I'm not the only one figuring out how to make the sleeve work for them without letting them work for it! -

I'm not sure if you're kidding, but I was never told I couldn't go to a restaurant at any time by my NUT. I just had to find something I could eat on my phase, which I did, broth from soup. I posted this to let others know that being social is still possible without feeling like a stick in the mud. The challenge of doing so made me feel even better about my decision to get sleeved. Oh and I'm down 3 more pounds from Friday, so I'm thinking all went just fine for me. It might not work for others. I'm just sharing an alternative to being stuck at home. -

I didn't really eat much of the corn (not that brave yet). Congrats on the 100 lbs. Totally inspiring to hear of that kind of success!!! And thank you, I'm very very glad to be here!! -

Oh no! I guess I should have explained better. I wasn't at all upset, we've discussed the tools I have in my arsenal and I was fine with going. Nervous but excited to be "normal" and go out for the evening. Chowder has settled fine and I had a great evening!! -
Ad surgery last Wednesday, been home since Friday. Noticing that whenever I take a drink of anything I burp. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong that has me taking in too much air?
-
Congratulations!!! That's awesome!
-
This is helpful. I thought the burping was a sign of my being full but that's impossible considering I burp when there's nothing in me.
-
Thanks!

Okay good to know

Surgery 4 days ago and now I'm at a friends for Oscars. There' crackers, cheese, pigs in a blanket, stuffed mushroom, homemade Mac n cheese & Caesar salad. I'm dying inside!!!! I brought soup and yogurt but that all pales into comparison to these amazing foods!!!!!
