Full off two bites..really?!?!
laurenanastasia replied to Lindsayellen93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I started the soft food stage I wanted refried beans soooo bad so they were one of the first things I tried. They were NOT my friend. I haven't tried them again yet but I can tell you that other things either felt way better going down or I could get more down. Good luck! -

Law, I had the same concerns that you did. I'm 5 weeks out and things have been different and it's been a huge adjustment. I have only regretted it once and it lasted a couple hours then I remembered why I did it in the first place. If you're not going in for the right reasons you'll be very unhappy. I looked at it this way: I had a nice, long relationship with food. I basically ate what I wanted for 28 years and it's all over. Time to move on. Food isn't your friend, it doesn't care if it makes you happy, sad, fat, miserable or elated...so why do we care so much? Honestly, since my surgery, I feel free. Amanda, I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. I think that when you could eat whatever you wanted it was easier to push your feelings of unhappiness down, it was not that you were actually happier. I've found the mental aspect of this to be extremely challenging too but I can tell you seeing a therapist or counselor will help significantly. I'm sorry you have regrets and I hope you start to feel better soon.

Liquid and protein intake
laurenanastasia replied to taylor_holt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am at the exact same spot and am getting about the same in terms of liquids and Proteins. I have noticed over time that I can take bigger sips and fit more in smaller periods of time but if it makes you feel any better we are right around the same numbers! -

Pre-Op Diet Hell!
laurenanastasia replied to She's_Sleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 13 and it started getting better after day 4. Your body is literally detoxing and withdrawing so it's definitely not easy. Hang in there! -

Woohoooo! I have a date!
laurenanastasia replied to Moni_0330's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! I almost cried when I got my date of 3/24 too! I haven't done the preop diet yet (mine starts 2 weeks before) but I have started replacing meals with shakes to try and ease into it as much as possible. I use unsweetened almond milk and Chocolate About Time and it's delicious! -

It was also very easy for me. I was self pay, so I had mailed them a check for $500 and when I was there, wrote them another check for $9,900. I took a second on the home to fund it, which took me about half an hour at the bank. Total time from decision to scalpel was 30 days. As far as losing the weight, you just need to focus on your program. Keep doing what you are supposed to do and the weight will come off. If you obsess about the scale, you will be very disappointed. I weighed once a month and always saw progress. It kept me inspired and focused on my program. I guess we all have a different definition of easy...it would not be "easy" for me to wire $10k! What I meant by fighting for surgery is just jumping through insurance hoops. I have stayed so positive and am thrilled to be scheduled for 3/24. Good luck to you both in your journeys! -

I have the same fears as well. I see people on here who are 3 months out who have lost 20lbs and while that's a great accomplishment, I feel for myself I would be disappointed. Plus you go through all this struggle your whole life being overweight, fight for surgery (no one can tell me their process has been the easiest thing they've ever done) and then imagine the heartbreak when you are 2 years post op and God forbid you gain weight back. I have to try and stay positive otherwise the doubts will get the best of me! You never know if you don't try! -

Protein bars
laurenanastasia replied to DonnaMarie28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am obsessed with Quest Bars. They are satisfying in terms of flavor, texture, satiety...total package!! Best flavors are chocolate chip cookie dough, white chocolate raspberry, cookies and cream, coconut cashew...I could go on and on!! -

psych evaluation today!
laurenanastasia replied to naomijane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was super easy too. I think the main thing they are looking for is that you're having the surgery under your own free will or by recommendation of your physician and that you'll have someone to take care of you after. Those seemed to be the main points of my appointment. Good luck! -

I do a lot of those same exercises at my weight now (pre-op) and survive: this means you can do it no problem! Good luck and don't forget Protein right after your workout to make yourself less sore the next day. I swear by Quest Bars! -

$600 Bariatric Program Fee
laurenanastasia replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program (located in Boston) has a $550 fee. It gives you lifelong access to the PA for any health related questions and lifelong access to dietitians for any questions. They also monitor you closer than the other programs I looked into (more frequent appointments) and they are much easier to access. My feeling is, if you're comfortable with your surgeon and the ancillary staff, $550 is a small price to pay for peace of mind. -
