  1. I had my surgery 4/15. For the last 8 weeks I have spent more than my fair share of time in the bathroom. While everything worked, I would not call any of it "normal" BM. Today, 1 day shy of 8 weeks, I finally had what I would a normal BM!!! Just shows how each journey is so different.
  2. I didn't have a catheter after surgery so the first time I got up to use the bathroom I put on underwear. That made a huge difference for me. Gown was fine then.
  3. I think your husband is correct. Most plans do not allow high fat food, especially that early.

    Going back to work

It depends on your job. I went back after a week. Felt like crap but I was in the middle of a semester and could not miss classes. It was only 3 hours in the classroom. Driving to and from was the worse part. I think 2 weeks would have been the best bet for me. I felt much better by then.

    June 2013 Group?

All the threads that included a month got moved. On the main bypass menu click support groups. They are in there somewhere. I think pick year first then the months show up.
  6. I hate the app on my phone. So when I could not find the April 2014 RNY thread I figured it was because the app just sucked. So when I sat at the computer today I realized the monthly threads had been moved. Here is our April Thread http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/305190-april-2014-rnybypass-post-op-support/ BariatricPal →Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum→ Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Groups→ Monthly Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Groups→ 2014→ April 2014
  7. Talk, Talk, Talk. Then nobody will notice how much you did not eat and you can pack it up in a doggy bag. If your lunch date doesn't know, I would leave all the food on your plate and take your small slow bites. I think people notice if you immediately portion and pack up.

    GOING BACKWARDS?

I've been very nauseous the last 2 weeks. (I'm 7 weeks post op) I saw my nutritionist last week and I too am keeping not only a food journal, but noting what time I start eating, when I start to feel bad, when I use the bathroom etc. I changed when I take my Multivitamins which has actually helped me a lot. I was taking them on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Now I take them 45 minutes after dinner.
  9. For those of you who have Calcium Citrate on their required Vitamin list, what are you using? I have Citrical "petites" which I assure you are not "petite" as the bottle indicates. They may be smaller than the regular ones but one certainly requires more than a sip of beverage to get it down!!! They are tough going down and I have to take 4 daily. UGH!
  10. I eat fresh peaches no skins. (7 weeks post op)

    Ideas for step 2 diet

Eat what is on your plan. Each one is different. The steps/phases are different and what is permitted in each is different. It also depends on how long each of your steps last. Some on here are on liquids for weeks while others, like me, spent only 1 week. Some have a puree phase, some don't.
  12. I'm almost 7 weeks out. I'm walking the dog, well more like he's walking me for 20 minutes. I was not able to exercise prior to surgery due to a cardiac issue so I'm really out of shape. I figure any exercise is better than none. I'm wearing my Fitbit with the goal of increasing my steps each week. I'm going to be hitting the pool a few days a weeks starting this week. Some lap swimmjng, some treading Water, some underwater exercises. I was cleared to do anything I wanted at 3 weeks but i did not have enough energy until about 5. I do not use Protein supplements at all.
  13. I am using the timer on my phone. It serves a couple of purposes. I am taking a bite every minute for at least 25 minutes. Sometimes it takes more than 25 minutes to finish my 2 oz of protein/2 oz of fruit or veggie. But at one bite per minute I don't eat too fast. Then I can also tell when my 30 minutes is up and it's time to drink. I also leave the timer running so I can see when my 5 hours is nearing and I can stop drinking and prepare my next meal. I'm on a 3 meal no snacks plan.

    Nauseas

I too am 6 weeks out and nauseated most of the time. I saw my nutritionist today. She fears I'm not eating enough. I'm also having "gut" issues with a decent amount of diarrhea. She thinks that from a lack of Fiber. She suggest I move my Multivitamin and take it 45 minutes after eating. I had been taking them in the morning which might start my day off feeling so bad. She also wants me eating 2 oz of protein and 2 oz of fruit/veggie with every meal. Even if it takes me more than 25 minutes, she would like me to try to get it in. I have also been using saltines which seem to help some. I usually eat one about 30 minutes after my meal or when the nausea is unbearable. She told me this was fine and to continue doing this if it helps.

    Food after gastro bypass

It is very hard. I'm not getting enough protein but my practice told me not to worry about it. It will come with time.
  16. Watermelon is mostly water so you can probably eat a lot of it. But you do need to eat protein!
  17. I'm 6 weeks out and still do not have regular BM. I'm not constipated. When I do go it's more like diarrhea than anything else. Doctor said be patient.

    Annoying gurgling

Have you asked the question on the sleeve board?
  19. I had ground beef for dinner and breakfast. Both times no issues. I made 4 small patties about the size of a poker chip. I had 2 for each meal. I just cooked on the stove very slowly so it was moist. I got a whole chicken from the Peruvian place near me. So moist and yummy! I wanted the skin so badly but did not want to risk getting sick.

    Food after gastro bypass

What does your program allow? All are different. My week 4,5 &6 allowed the following protein: canned tuna, canned salmon, white flaky fish, egg in any form, low fat cottage cheese, lactose free skim milk, plain yogurt, low fat cheese, Beans.
  21. I can't believe today marks 6 weeks. This is a huge milestone for me as my dietary freedom begins. I had chicken this past week, which was a cheat but I couldn't eat any more tuna or fish. Today I had mini burgers aka ground beef. So excited!

    A little down today

What else can you focus on? Do you have a hobby or something you would like to learn to do? I took up knitting. It helped me keep my hands busy and my mind focused. Or reading? I hate to read but I know people who have used it as a distraction. This is not an easy task. I've had some really bad days over the last 6 weeks. I'm starting to eat "regular" food now and it has made a difference. I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
  23. I agree. Some days things seem to go well but other days are a struggle from start to finish.
  24. I actually don't think that sounds odd. I think many women are into clothes no matter what their size. I also think it's hard to dress a new body you are not use too, especially in the in between phases. How much more weight do you want to lose? My goal is to avoid too many purchases in the in between phase. I will wear my 20 pants until they fall off. I have a few skirts with elastic waists that should get me through the entire summer. I may need a few shirts but I'm not buying any new pants until the fall. Sundresses are also an option that will last the summer too. I have 2 right now.
  25. Mine told me not to track calories at this point. I'm 5.5 weeks post op. My focus is 3 meals, 35 minutes long, a baby spoon bite every minute. If you ever look at the sleeve boards they definitely eat more quantity and can eat different food. Their stomachs are twice the size of out pouches.
