I feel like I am going to scream I went to my first visit with the surgeon last week and he asked me why I did not want gastric bypass, and I told him well I have seen many people have side effects to this, and have many health problems afterwards, and he was very suportive, however I have some so reading on the internet and I have read that gastric bypass is better for people to loose more than 100 pounds. I have about 140 pounds to loose. can people with lab band loose this much weight? When I went to the group information day, everyone else wanted gastric bypass and they could not believe that I wanted lab band, So I am so confussed know. If anyone can help me out thanks Crystal

I also am having to think which one I want and I am so lost. My doctor told me to do research on both and then when i go back on 11/1/07 to see him then I will discuss which one I want to do. My biggest worry is that i will make the wrong decision. Brandy you look great, congrat on all teh weight loss. :whoo:

Has anyone went throught the surgery and your family is not supportive. I am getting all the pre op done, in fact I have my psyc eval done tomorrow, :clap2: However I told my younger sister that I am going to be doing this and she is not happy at all and sent me a email on friday telling me this is the wrong thing to do, and it is all in my head and that I should just diet. I have asked her to come to my appts so that she can ask the surgeon any questions she may have she will not go. :angry My husband is also not approving of the surgery he is supportive because he knows this is what I want to do, but doesn't agree with it at all. I am nervous because this is a huge life chaning situation and I would think my sister out of all people would be suportive. No one else in my family knows. :help:Crystal:faint:

yesterday I had my frist appt with the surgeon I am so excitied. He put me on a 1200-1400 calorie diet for six weeks, and I have to excersies 4 days a week for 45 min. ANd then I go back in 11/1 and see how I do I am so emotional and happy to start my new life. :whoo:

I live in sacramento and will be having this done by Doctor Patching in sacramento, as anyone had this surgery by him? I have heard wonderful things about him and like to know. i have not meet him yet I just got approval with the insurance my appt is 09/20/07

Hello new to this. Just got my approval to see the surgeon. I have my first appt on 09/20/07 I really nervous about this whole process, I have had surgery twice for c-sections but never been put to sleep, and I have read in other post not on this web site that people have problems with blot clots is there anyone out there that had this problem.
