  1. Good luck! You're going to do GREAT! See you on the losers bench later! Be well…
  2. I thought I'd just put my thoughts out here to keep myself accountable and aware: They can remove a big part of my stomach, but the demons are still in my head. I'm almost 5 weeks post-op, and Friday I stopped at the market and found myself purchasing (and later eating) two pieces of fried chicken and a Cadbury Creme egg. Yesterday I found myself grazing all day on Peanut Butter, cottage cheese and cheese slices. I've reeled myself in, at the expense what might be a 2 pound gain for the week. And I'm supposed to be on pureed foods on top of it all. What was I thinking? I've logged everything into MyFitnessPal to stay accountable. I've thrown out the cheeses. I guess what's happening is that things are starting to "return to normal" for me, and the old habits are rearing their ugly heads. I have to admit that the power of these old habits is taking me by surprise, and it's unnerving! I'm feeling very disappointed in myself.

    MAJOR regrets

We're all here to help each other push forward! The first week suck eggs. I yelled at my parents and called them names and wondered what in the world had I done to myself. Hopefully your doctor(s) can set you with something to make the transition more comfortable. Keep looking at that precious little boy of yours! Be well…

    Going insane already

a'yup. We've all been there, and a'yup. It sucks eggs. Speaking of eggs, scrambled eggs got me through the pureed stage (allowed by my doctor). That and sugar-free pudding and popsicles. Plus I thought about what I would have my first day on real food, and told myself to just suck it up and wait. I won't tell you not to cheat, either. Heck, I cheated myself on a piece of fried chicken and a Cadbury cream egg. Felt like poo-poo, and it wasn't worth it at all. But I had to go through that process. Be well…
  9. Keeping you in my thoughts. I hope all is good, and you'll be "on the other side" soon! Be well…

    Happy

    Nice! Congratulations, isn't it exciting!
  13. I had lots of a diarrhea early on, and I continue to struggle with it every other day or so. Early on it was greenish and watery (ouch!), which I understand is the bile not having time to do it's job as things are passing too quickly through the plumbing. It's starting to calm down now, looking more like a normal color, and not as watery. When I told my surgeon what was happening, he didn't seem too concerned and said it takes time for everything to adjust. He also said taking Immodium every couple/few days was fine. Definitely discuss it with your medical team. Try to keep hydrated, and feel better soon! Be well…
  14. Isn't it wonderful when things work out like that? It's both terrifying and exciting! Congratulations, and good luck! You're going to do great! Be well…

    supportless team

Your family has concerns because they care about you, and that anxiety is understandable. It's a major procedure… one that will alter your body and lifestyle forever! Of course, nly you have the answer to the questions should I really do this or can I handle this. At the end of the day, the decision is yours and yours alone. Should you do it? You tell me. Can you handle it? With some hard work and dedication, yes you can. And you have hundreds of like-minded souls right here to support you along the way. You'll notice that the vast majority of people here have never looked back once they made the decision. And while I'm still in the early stages post-op, so far, I'm one of those people. Now, I had full support from my family. But had that not been the case, even if they had been kicking and screaming at the hospital door begging me not to do it, I would have gone ahead with it anyway because I was tired of being miserable. I was tired of taking a million medications. I was tired of being tired. How "tired" are you? I hope you find the support and answer you are looking for. You deserve to be healthy. Please keep us updated. Be well…

    cant stop eating to fast.....

I'm right there with you, my friend! I have a hard time with this too. But baby utensils have helped me a great deal. But on mornings when I'm running late for work (most mornings, unfortunately!), I struggle with this. There's a good article on the subject right here on this site: http://www.bariatricpal.com/page/articles.html/_/healthy-living/food-nutrition/i-know-i-need-to-eat-slowly-but-how-r183 Be well…

so much for starting to feel better...

Shame on him. Don't be discouraged. You know you've been doing all the right things and you have nothing to prove to him or anyone else. And if you've started accepting this new lifestyle already, well, I think that's awesome. Because at the end of the day, that's what it's all about. You're doing great. Tell him DeniseNCC1701 said to go suck it. Be well…

  21. Oh, I hear you! I had a similar de-railing where I had fried chicken and a Cadbury creme egg. Felt like crap the whole night. Interesting how our sleeves talk to us now! Glad your back on track! Be well…

    2 weeks post op!

I've enjoyed scrambled eggs (the first thing I had was scrambled egg whites!). My doctor allows flaked, white fish and tuna fish, so I've had that as well. I've made homemade chicken Soup and pureed it in a blender… it reminds me of cream of chicken soup. I've also enjoyed liver pate, egg salad made with cottage cheese instead of mayonnaise (and with mostly egg whites). Homemade liver pate was a phase I went through for a few days. Refried Beans with a little low-fat cheese is yummy. I've tolerated miso soup pretty well, as well as thinly sliced sashimi. Pureed, boiled chicken didn't work well for me, though throw a little mushroom gravy on it, and it's not bad. Mashed sweet potatoes (after having Protein of course!). I've had to stay away from Peanut Butter. It goes down too easy, and I can eat way to much of it as a result. Same thing with puddings, so I don't even bring them into the house, but those are recommended too! Be well…
