Stalled at 2 months post surgery
DeniseNCC1701 replied to slocin12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got over a stall myself. I know for me, it was an opportunity to take a real close look at my food logs, and I saw areas that needed tweaking. I had also started grazing, so now I am much more aware. Hang in there, stay true to your purpose, the losses will start up again! Be well… -
first real meal after sleeve
DeniseNCC1701 replied to right for me?'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First thing I had was a slice of pizza. It sat like a brick in my tummy. It was delicious. A couple days later it was Easter Sunday and I attended an all-you-can eat brunch. I used an appetizer-sized plate, bought my baby utensils with me, and had a bite or two of assorted Protein items: shrimp, short ribs, veal, fish. And a creme brulee for dessert. Delicious. Solids foods, while mostly agreeing with me, are sitting hard in the tummy. I'm leaning towards the softer choices for now and trying to remember to chew slowly. Be well… -

New Here & 1 Week Post-Op
DeniseNCC1701 replied to nemery's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on making it to the the "loser's bench"! I'm one of the lucky ones. The first few days post-op were rough for me. Pain, trouble breathing, fatigue. But by day 5 I started to feel better, and I was back to work a week later and fishing the week after that. I think the hardest part is getting in enough fluids so you don't feel dehydrated. I still struggle with getting enough Water. Make sure you are getting in your Protein, too. The pain will subside. Before you know it, it will be a distant memory. Good luck! Be well… -
What you are feeling is perfectly normal. It's a major, life-changing decision, and one that should not be made hastily! Hang out here. A lot. Ask questions. Read the success stories and get inspired. Check out any stories of complications, and discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Have faith in yourself. Good luck! Be well…

Oh yes, you'll go through phases with that. For the first two weeks post-op, all I wanted was a piece of pizza. When I finally transitioned to solid foods 8 weeks after surgery, I had one slice. It sat like a brick in my new tummy. And it was delicious. I've found the cravings subsided. Once you hit pureed foods, that will help. I was never more happy to have scrambled egg whites than the day I switched over from liquids. Everyone will say this, but it does indeed get easier. Be well…

Waking nightly between 2:30-4 am
DeniseNCC1701 replied to Bbmomma4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Allow me to chime in too! I've been waking up around 3:30-4am. I stay up and try to get something done. Other times I watch I Love Lucy or play Candy Crush. I suspect a hormone thing going on. I don't dislike it, though. It's become my "quiet time" Be well… -

A little worried
DeniseNCC1701 replied to racheld11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Monday and went back to work the following Monday. I have a desk job, so that helped, but I felt OK, and the distraction was welcome. Be well… -
Congratulations to those who are newly sleeved! Wishing you all the best! Because the best is yet to come! Be well…

Two months out, and I have diarrhea on a regular basis, with an occasional normal-ish BM every now and then. My surgeon didn't seem concerned, and said it was OK to take Immodium ever few days. Be well…

Anyone tatse any non-artificailly sweetened protein drinks?
DeniseNCC1701 replied to Ageekygal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Garden of Life isn't bad (love the ingredients in it), but I have a rough time with the chalkiness. My trainers suggested Nitro-Pro (I like the Chocolate). It's whey Protein sweetened with stevia, and it mixes smooth. Amazing how many choices of protein power there are, yes? Be well… -
Regretting my decision
DeniseNCC1701 replied to WRJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, the first couple of week can really throw you for a loop. The first few days home for me were really rough. Heating pads helped a great deal with the pain, and I too had trouble breathing. But it got better. I'm now two months out, and just started solid foods. And while my head is happy about that, my tummy… not so much. You'll get tired of hearing this, but our bodies need time to adapt and adjust to the changes we're placing on them. Go easy on yourself, follow your surgeon's instructions, and you'll be fine. 2 weeks ans not much weight lost?
DeniseNCC1701 replied to Jessiegirl30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't obsess about the number on the scale. I know. I know. Easier said than done. But you have to trust the process. Stalls are common, and happen to pretty much everyone. I think someone here once said that posts about disappointing numbers are the most common posts of all. Yet if you look at long-term stats, everyone does well at the end of the day. Keep plugging along, follow your doctors instructions, vent here when you need to. You're going to be fine. Denise (who is pushing through a huge stall herself. LOL) Be well… -
That's just your new tummy trying to figure out what the heck is going on. I'm two months out today, and will occasionally get the gurgles. It's normal, and as your body adjusts, it will be more forgiving. If you have pain or discomfort along with that, best to check with your surgeon. Be well…

Help! I had a setback today and wonder how much I hurt myself.
DeniseNCC1701 replied to JulsOT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They can work on the stomach, but we have the real hard work dealing with what's going on in our heads. To the OP (and to all of us who indulged, including myself), you're going to be fine. Try to stay focused and remind yourself why you had the procedure to begin with. My own calorie count came in at about 1750-1800 for the day yesterday. Darned that creme brulee at the restaurant! It was delicious. A year ago, I would have had 3 or 4. This would have been on top of whatever I had at the main buffet. My calorie count would have been 10,000 easy, so I'm OK with where I'm at. Protein shakes and fish for the next few days, though! Be well everyone… -
Switching to solid food in the middle of a stall
DeniseNCC1701 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! Stuck in a nasty stall, where I've actually gained a couple of pounds since Monday, and today I switch to solid foods. My boss is bringing in pizza to Celebrate my transition - this is at my request pre-stall (me and my big mouth, LOL). And Sunday the family is going out to an all-you-can-eat brunch. I've already kept my Breakfast today light with about 1/2 cup of homemade chicken Soup. And dinner will be light too, maybe just a little sashimi and a Protein shake. I want sushi, but the rice might not be a good idea right now, especially since I'll be having carbs at lunch. Sunday I plan on a few shrimp and whatever fish they have that looks good. Anyway, any suggestions on how to transition to solids while in the middle of a stall? Should I keep the solids to a minimum (if at all) until the scale starts moving again? Thanks so much, I hope everyone is doing OK. Be well… -

Cup and half of soup...Is this too much?
DeniseNCC1701 replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm able to take in a lot more of broths, soups, etc. I've been trying to limit them. My doctor says this is normal. pureed foods are a different story, depending on what it is. I "graduate" to solids today. YAY! Be well… -

Is anyone else cold?
DeniseNCC1701 replied to irishcailin68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
*raising hand to be counted* I use to be hot all the time, too. Now I'm setting my thermostats at 75! Have been since the day I got home from the hospital. I can only hope this means I'll be more tolerate of the summer heat! Be well… -
I'm in the exact same boat as you! Two months out on Monday, down 50 and stuck. I've actually been fluctuating upwards a pound or three. It's very frustrating! Some people say to increase Protein. Or increase exercise. Some say cut back some calories, some say increase them (LOL). Everyone says drink more Water, and to not weigh yourself so much. How has your eating/exercise been? Water and protein intake? All on point? If so, just keep pushing forward, it's going to be OK. Trust the process. Apparently these things happen. What I'm doing is just trying my best to stay focused and not let the stall derail me. I know I'm doing the right thing. I know I need to drink more water. The stall has made me take a long, hard look at my diet the past few weeks, and I've found areas that could use tweaking, afterall. Do you log your foods? If so, this is a great time to really look it over. Good luck, and be well…
