    Any Colorado sleevers?

My friend said he goes to a support group for men at sky ridge medical center on i25 and Lincoln. I was sleeved feb 2013 and have had little to no support from any group, which has been very difficult. I live east of Denver and commute to work in Denver. My dr. Was dr. Brown, the hospital he works with has a support group that meets once a month. I'd like to know if there's a group anywhere east of I-25?

    Reactive hypoglycemia

. Your post sounds like what I go through too. I'm 17 months out too, I've lost 102# total and have maintained that for 9 months. (20 below goal too????) I've been trying to add more things to my diet besides primarily protein but have noticed that I'm having major, major crashes if I have anything with sugar, or a few extra carbs. I get really shaky and feel like I'm going to pass out. The biggest problem then is I start to panic and stuff crap in my mouth to get rid of the feeling. I'm going to get back to the basics and do what was working best for me. Protein, then veggies and some fresh fruit. Cutting out sugar and carbs. I've come this far and I'm not going to screw up over bad choices.
  3. Sleeved 2/10/14, 97lbs gone forever!!
  4. Omg, loosing my hair has totally freaked me out. Loosing the pounds on the other hand has made it easier to accept. My job requires me to have my hair pulled up so my ponytail has gotten real small and you can see all the new hairs standing straight up. I'm just hoping they all don't come in gray. Lol. I take all the vitamins and supplements, get the required protein in and drink my water. It's one of those risks we have to deal with.
  5. I feel I've improved in so many ways. I am 9 months post op so that could help a lot also. I mean there was a lot of feeling exhausted and crazy tired the first 3-4 months while my body adjusted to soo many changes. But after that my memory has improved a lot, I can pay close attention to details, and I make such better decisions. It's like after surgery I got to start all over especially with food choices so, I keep the crap out so I don't feel like crap. I eat to live not live to eat.

Congratulations, glad to hear your progressing well. It has been the best thing I did for myself. I love my sleeve!

    You've lost enough

I'm tired of co workers, distant family and acquaintances making the comment that I have lost enough. I'm 5'5, HW was 230, CW 155, goal is 140. It's difficult when you put up with fat comments all your life then when you make lifestyle changes the comments continue. They may say it out of concern, It's just that I don't want to hear it!
  8. You should take gas x strips for the gas post op. If your parents will be with you have them hold your bag until you are in your room. Bring a small water bottle to sip on on your way home.

    Small win

You are doing great, you should be so proud of yourself.
  10. My surgery was 2/10, SW was 230, as of this morning I was 170. The biggest problem I've experienced is that I have a 30 minute lunch break so there has been a few times that I've eaten to fast or didn't chew enough and when I returned to work the pain was so bad I was practically running to the bathroom. Needless to say it only takes a few times to learn that lesson. My husband has been complaining a lot about my hair all over the place (I didn't tell him that that could be a side effect) so I would love some advise about that also.
  11. I'm wandering how well the B12 shots work. I am 6 wks post op and can't seem to make it past 4 hours a day without completely crashing. I'm getting enough fluids, protein and all my vitamins and calcium. I'm doing cardio for 30 min 4 days a week. I just can't shake this extremely tired feeling. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Second thoughts

Anytime you talk about surgery, someone will tell you about someone they know and they pick the bad experiences to tell you about. There is risk with all surgeries, you need to become as educated about this decision as you can and do what is best for YOU regardless of anyone else's experience. I am 7 weeks post op and could not be more pleased. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the mental hunger but that got easier in time.

    getting sleeved 2/24/14 !

I took a small bag with tooth brush, tooth paste, a hair brush, hair clip (I have long hair), chap stick, and GAS X STRIPS (a must have). My surgery was so early in the morning so I was wearing sweats and sweat shirt, I just wore those home too because you are in your hospital gown and hospital no slip socks. I saw others took a pillow, I didn't and didn't need one there was plenty in my room. I also took my cel phone and charger. I packed my Kendle but never got it out. The nurses are checking your vitals every 2 hours during the day and 4 hours during the night if you are comfortable. During the day you are walking several times around the hospital floor to help remove gas. You are also sipping your water, they bring your meals which mine was a pop cycle and broth, you are drinking and eating very slowly so that kills quite a bit of time. I actually thought the time went by very quickly. I hope this helps.
  14. Unfortunately It always seems like the boobs are the first to go. You may think your belly looks larger because your boobs aren't in the way. Loosing is loosing! Way to go!!
  15. I too had trouble with my first few protein shakes, loved the taste. I was allowed to add sugar free surups like sf caramel surups which made it taste like a yummy shake. My problem was the amount gurgling and gas the protein shakes cause. But then again the gas got me walking to get rid of the it. Good luck you will find the right one.
