    Not enough information before sleeved

I'm glad you are attempting to learn more. I am sooo grateful my insurance required me to take the classes 6 months. I wasn't too happy at first of course. The nutrition class is like training wheels for a bicycle. After the last class I have the knowledge to ride a 10 speed. I learned to not drink Water 30 min before and after each meal, chew 30 times before swallowing, put my eating utensils down between each bite, portion control, eat small meals throughout the day, and drink Protein shakes etc. 6 months in and still learning. Hey, it's a learning experience. My packet was submitted to my insurance company today. I'm prepared for the journey! Good luck.

    Who makes the decision?

Hi all, I have BCBS of MI and I am required to do a 6 month nutrition evaluation/weigh in, sleep study, receive a letter of support from my pcp, & psy evaluation. Nutrition eval could be omitted if I had 6 month documentation from a medical professional. I'm truly grateful for the waiting period. You really have to train your body for the lifestyle change.

CPAP or BPAP Machine for sleep apnea

I just was diagnosed with sleep apnea after jumping through hoops for surgery. Last week I had my cpap fitting sleep study. Tomorrow I find out my results. Last official hurdle! Still hoping for a early March date!

    3 Month pre-op

Fairly easy, they attempt to ween out if you have an eating disorder, have suicidal tendencies, accept responsibility for your current state (weight/health), if you have a history of maintaining your doctor appts etc. I also had to do a 65 true/false questionnaire about what I listed above. They ask repetitive questions attempting to see if your answering truthfully. It's was fairly easy, just be honest and consistent with your responses. Be mindful of your eye contact and body language too. Good luck!

how to request time off from work?

Unfortunately I don't qualify for medical leave because I haven't been with my company for a full year. Plus I could push for it with the support of my doctor, I choose not to because I have to use my personal and sick time first. I'm soooooo not doing that I already have two vacations planned in the summer and fall. I'm taking a week off with no pay. I put aside some money from my tax return. After a week if I'm not ready to return to my management desk job I will consider working from home. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear you are in pain Katie. I'm pre so I can't offer you advice from experience. However, I would recommend you push yourself to walk to loosen your body aches. I'll say a prayer for you. Keep the faith!
  9. Congrats! I just finished my last step this morning. I had a sleep study done which confirmed I had sleep apnea. Last night I had to do a cpap test. My doctor confirmed I will be scheduled within 2 weeks. Super excited!!

    Food funerals

Hey your human, your bound to slip up every now and then. On my monthly weigh in visits I also met with my nutritionist, together we set 3 goals and age monitored if I kept it by factoring my fluctuating of weight. Three months in she called me out...lol. I told her I was following thru but wasn't. Clearly the scale told the truth cause I gained 3-5 lbs a month. Long story short I had to accept accountability. The 6 month waiting period is designed to prepare you for a lifestyle change. At my 4-6 months weigh in I was down 9 lbs because I followed thru with my goals. For example, portion control, chewing 20-30 times before swallowing, drinking Water, exercise, etc. Utilize this time to prepare. Good luck =).

    My Journey/March 2014 Sleever

Hi Jerziegirl, I'm a mother of three and is anticipating a date in early or mid March. My stats are around yours too; 5'4,220 lbs. I'm more excited than nervous. I have had over 7 months to contemplate and I'm going for it! I have several years of yoyo dieting. Ready for a change and a lifestyle of consistency/accountability. Fast forward 20-30 years from now...with your current health state do you still believe you will be around for your kids? I believe I will but with more complications, medications from A-Z, and in more pain. Ultimately, it's up to you just way your pros and cons. Good luck!

  16. Hello all! I'm a newbie. Just wondering do any of you have a YouTube channel, blog, or photos that documented your journey? Or do you follow someone via social network? Any info is helpful =)

    Psych evaluation

I just had mine yesterday. It lasted around a hour. Consisted of 30 min talking about my support system, eating habits, failed diets, and she reiterated the surgery being a lifestyle change. I also took an 165 true/false question test towards the end. Fairly simple. I made sure I was honest and consistent about my responses. FYI, a lot of repetitive questions. Good luck!

    Surgery is on February 17th!

Congrats! I anticipate my date in early March. Being you have small kids it would be in your best interest to be proactive to plan your shakes and small meals. Good luck to you!
