Starting my process any tips?
survivingsleever replied to sleeved_kay's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Biggest tip, take heed to what your dietitian tell you. Hence, chew 25-30 times, avoid Water 30 min before and after eating, take Vitamins you will be taking after surgery, cut out over eating. Utilize this time to train yourself mentally. When your training wheels are taken off (after surgery) you have to be prepared. Good luck! -
one week post op depression
survivingsleever replied to sleevedinmichigan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Change your perspective. I'm one week post op today. You should be creative with your liquids. For example, I was craving nachos. I took some nacho cheese added a lil milk to thin it out. Got two tortilla chips and grated in my blender to a cheap of wheat/oatmeal/grits consistency and added it (It was deelish! Also, took some Wendy's chilli, blended it till all chucks of tomato and meat were blended. Same thing with Applebee's artichoke dip I added milk and ate like Soup. Campbell's has a cheeseburger chunk soup, I'm saving it as a head hunger emergency..lol. Whatever you eat, just blend with milk, broth, Water, etc. good luck.... -
3days post op help!
survivingsleever replied to ArixS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was told 64 oz minimum all liquids (including protein shakes) can be included. No more than 4 oz per 30 minutes. I recommend hot tea, I goes down smoother. Good luck! -
Bcn's approval letter takes a lil time for you to get it. I recommend calling the dr office, my coordinator confirmed within 2 days because she was able to look in their database to see if I was approved.

Who is in March?

Don't worry about the shots. I was poked twice a day. Request it in your stomach while the nurse spread your skin and it will hurt much less! -
Confessions of the newly sleeved
survivingsleever replied to Rena's got this's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really?!? Is it that serious, a picture?? Come on.....! To the one who started this post I'm sure you don't want people to candy coat their response. If I threw it out there I would expect someone to keep it 100% with no chaser. I'm 3 days out and honestly cheated everyday of my preopt. Me eating prior was a life time of bad decisions. Moving forward I'm accepting accountability and refuse to be a "failed statistic". Good luck to you! -
4 days post op
survivingsleever replied to AmandaMichelle7589's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3days, my surgeon cleared day 4-14 as a liquid strained diet. I can do soups in addition to thin oatmeal, pudding, jello, or grits. Also as long as I have the ability to sip through a straw he will allow it. -
Offically Sleeved!
survivingsleever replied to survivingsleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks guys! Pre opt diet helped me drop a few pounds pre op. -
I was sleeved yesterday! I got called in two hours earlier due to a cancellation and went in solo due to my hubby being at work. I have super small veins, so imagine what 12 hrs prior to surgery with no liquids will do. I got poked a total of 6 times in attempts to insert an IV by a team of 5 different people. Surgery was quick, however I woke up whimpering like a dog...lol. The IV they managed to put in was small and limited my pain meds. Luckily for me they managed to give me liquid pain meds too. I slept all night like a baby and didn't have the strength to walk or eat. Today is a new day, with the help of nausea meds I was able to keep food down and walk the halls and walk in place in front of the tv in my room. Cheers to my start of a healthy life!

My Skinny Birthday Blog
survivingsleever replied to TatiB's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Love your blog, tomorrow is my big day! -
I found out through insurance hurdles I had sleep apnea. I was not required to be compliant 2 wks before receiving a surgery date. I literally got approved, scheduled, and received cpap within the same week. Started my process in June 13, getting sleeved tomorrow! However I am required to follow up with the sleep study doctor within 90 days of my initial test. My insurance require me to use my cpap consecutively 4 hrs for 2 wks before they pay for it. They are renting the cpap from a dme company on my behalf ( with a monitoring device to ensure it's being used).

Feeding your kids while going thru surgery
survivingsleever replied to JustMeJFD's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have 3 kids. I would recommend you drink your Protein before you prepare their meals. Hopefully you wont be tempted. -
My surgeon recommended avoiding buying anything in bulk pre surgery being my taste buds may change post surgery. I stumbled across this after searching for sample packets that are high quality and offered a high amount of Protein. They offer 50+ samples for $1.95 each! Happy shopping... http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-powders/protein-powder-samples-1-serving.html

Sleeved yesterday
survivingsleever replied to mommyof3sweetboys's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry to hear your in pain. I'm getting sleeved on Friday. Others recommended a heating pad for soreness. You probably should create a time schedule or alarm to assure you get your liquids in. -
Good luck to you. I'm 3/14....kinda surreal after waiting so long! Change your perspective, 10 yrs from now if you don't go thru with the surgery how would your quality of life be? Just weigh your pros and cons. Good luck!
