Hello, I'm only newly banded, so I don't think I'm the buddy you are after but I just wanted to offer the positives I have just read. Your doctor saw you as a success, you've dealt with lots of difficult things in the interim and you want to make changes. You say you are ok for today but who knows about tomorrow, well none of us ever knows what tomorrow brings and if you keep on taking things one day at a time I think you will be in a good position to succeed.

Advice please
zoefruitcake replied to country lovin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there, it will get better. Eventually you'll be able to revisit many of those favourite foods, just at the moment you need to get better. This time next week you'll feel so much better, you really will. I second the advice to keep moving, it does help. Once I could drive again I drove to new places and walked around them for variety, which worked well for me. -
It's three weeks today since surgery for me and I got to the end of work yesterday without being in pain. The 'pulling' pain is getting less each day. We all need to be patient and let our bodies catch up with our minds - so much easier said than done!

Thinking of you Dreamingbig, hope all goes well. All the things I was most worried about have so far not really materialised, although the experience hasn't really been how I imagined at all. You'll see your babies soon, and there is a whole new way of life out there soon to come

Oh this mythical Wendy's chilli I keep reading about, I wish we could get that here! I went back to work yesterday, which was also my first day of soft food. It's bliss to eat 'real' food, but I was in pain by the end of the day from doing a bit too much. Mentally I was ready to return last week, just physically it's been hard than I thought it would be. I'm now down 20 lbs since the start of the 2 weeks liquid before surgery

Does the gas ever end?!
zoefruitcake replied to LyceeB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad there is light at the end of the gassy tunnel, at least for the shoulder pain if not the rest! The rest I can cope with, but not the shoulder pain. It's finally easing enough that I can almost sleep the night through -

I'm also suffering from the gas, I wake at night wailing in pain and can't wait for it to end. I've been taking Windeze, gripe Water, and using a microwave wheat bag but still spending hours awake in pain every night pacing the kitchen floor. Wondering if I'll ever feel normal again -
But we do! You can get them canned in the supermarket, near the Mexican kits.

yes, home the same day. If you are considered local (we live an hour away) and you are out of theatre by 3pm and pass the criteria (no pain, had a wee, drunk several glasses of iiquid) then you can go home. I was pleased, it was better to be at home, although I was pacing the kitchen at 2am with a hot wheat bag on my left shoulder and reading my favourite poetry out loud to distract myself!
-
hi everyone, well I got home about 10pm last night, and I'm up and moving about a bit. My op was at 1pm, and I was very surprised that when my surgeon said I would be tilted upright and he'd be operating face to face! Came around feeling ok, just really really tired and spent most of the afternoon asleep. How do I feel? I'm uncomfortable, but not in much pain, the gas pain being the worst. I've just had a breakfast of miso soup. They did offer me soup twice at the hospital but it contained milk which I'm allergic to. I was offered jelly but it never materialised.

Hi everyone, just to say I'm back home now and ok, will post again later

Hi Patti, welcome. yes I'm a day before you on the 19th, just had blood taken yesterday and a surprise ECG, which was fine

Shmily, I'm on the 19th, so only a little ahead of you. I'm an hour away from the hospital, and with all the bad weather we're having here I'm hoping there won't be trees down and flooding preventing me getting there
