Cowgirl jane I think all of those are very important but #5 really stuck to me today. It's all too often I eat and wait for my notice that I'm full and then stop, when I should probably eat until it think that I'll no longer be hungry. Eating less, because I don't need to go till that full feeling. Thank you for that, all you veterans are so helpful :-)

February Sleevers.... Check in!
millergirl314 replied to Lulah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Having a hard time time getting to onederland. Although I haven't exactly been as carb conscious as I need to be. Monday I will be doing the 5 day pouch test, or reset or whatever it's called. I've been hovering at 208 for 3-4 weeks now and it's driving me crazy! Time to step it up and get it done :-) -

Thanks for posting this and everyone else's input. I've had cancer in the past and my Dad has had colon cancer twice now, it's recommended that I have my first colonoscopy by 40, I'm almost 35. I'm thinking of having one done by 38. I'm not afraid of what they could find, I'm afraid of not doing it soon enough I guess.

Freakin' Fecal Test - Warning, Rant Ahead
millergirl314 replied to HaddocksEyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It a good thing to be done to make sure as healthy as can be before your surgery. Colon cancer runs directly in my family and I've already had cancer once so when I'm 40 and they'd like to do my first colonoscopy, I'm game. They're right, prevention is worth it :-) -
What are you telling people?
millergirl314 replied to mom2lscw's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If I'm asked directly by someone who doesn't act like they are 12yrs old ( speaking of people at work) then I will tell them that i have had weight loss surgery and it's been the best decision for my health. And anyone else I tell them I'm very careful what I eat anymore and I exercise more, which is 100% true :-) Most completely respect that and at I've even inspired a few to check it out. I'm proud of myself for making my health and future a priority, all of you should be too :-) -
What are your opinions on eating avocados?
millergirl314 replied to bakawaka's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I buy these little cups of guacamole from Costco, there's probably a 1/4 cup in there and they're individually packaged, they usually last a month in the fridge, if you can find something like that to help with the portion control part of it. -
I'm almost 4 months out and I love having my cereal again. The Special K Red Berries hits the spot for me, 1/2 cup of real milk and I'm good to go :-) as long as the cereal gets soft and isn't sweetened it usually sits ok with my tummy. That sweet stuff is a no go :-)

Hi guys! I have to share my NSV with you: I no longer can shop in the women's/plus size clothing section, it's all too big! Sleeved on 2/24/14, I feel awesome. I'm 212lb as of yesterday, down from 278! Just wish my boobs would stop shrinking already!

Whats your "full" signal?
millergirl314 replied to knitlil09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a hard one for me still and I'm 4 mos out. Usually I'll start pushing my food around on my plate. I never noticed it till my hubby did. I don't always catch myself either when I'm eating by myself :-( -

steel cut oatmeal? bad idea to eat every day?
millergirl314 replied to dannybabe19's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I love my steel cut oats! -
We have potlucks or BBQ's at work sometimes, a lot more during the summer months and even if I bring something for everyone else, usually it's the only thing I can actually consume, all the usually suspects I either cannot have or just choose not to. And they always bring soda pop, so I bring my own lol.

How many r now obsessed with clothes, makeup, beauty products....
millergirl314 replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've heard that anything with Retinol is good, but I think that it makes your skin more susceptible to getting burnt in the sun so a SPF on your face is a good idea. I love Ulta, I could spend a couple hours there and only come out with one thing lol, I want so much :-) -

I thought it was on the spot. Dr Oz likes to use those big descriptive words to wow his audience. I usually flip the channel if I ever see him on :-) -
Is it safe to dye my hair? (6 months post opt)
millergirl314 replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in The Gals' Room
I've dyed my hair 2x now and I'm just shy of 4 months. Unfortunately I do have hair loss and it's horrible but it will grow back, I'm not bald or anything but my long thick dark hair is now a lil on the thin side lol. I think you should do whatever makes you happy :-) -
