  1. I am 18 days post op and I have only lost 3 pounds since the surgery. Pre op I lost 25 pounds in 2 months. I am so hungry and sticking to the diet. Today I had my first pureed meat, 1/4 cup chicken. I am hoping that this will help with the hunger pains in my belly. Can any one recommend how to not be hungry and how to drop more weight. I get on this site and everyone seems to have dropped so much weight at this stage except for me. HELP!

    Where do you live?

Hi All! I live in WA State, and was banded on 2.15.08. So far, so good. I'm hoping to meet some local people, as well as from all over. Support is key, and I'm here to help support as best I can, and also receive support. __________________ Banded 2/15/08 Weight loss since banded NewCastleMamma, I am a Washintonian too. Severe shoulder pain

Did you 2 have your hiatal hernia fixed during your surgery? The pain may be because the food changes are bothering your hernia repair. For some reason the shoulder pain is triggered by the hernia repair. This is what my Dr. told me.
  4. I had my lapband on 2/25/08 and i've lost only 5 pounds post op so far. Give yourself a break. You are doing great. Also remember to eat your protein first and slowly? Good luck to you!

    List your lapband confessions here.

I confess that I have no trouble staying on plan all day long. Nights have been the challenge for me. This has always been an issue for me and I have slipped lately. I am 17 days post op and on puree/mushys. Last night I had some peanut butter. I have no restrictions at all yet so I had no problems with it except for the guilt. I have had some frustation because I lost 25 pounds pre op but have only dropped 3 pounds post op. I get on this site and read about how everyone has dropped so much in the same amount of time and i get upset. I know that except for my small peanut butter issue, I have been on task and even walking 2.25 miles 3x a week. I will forgive myself and start new today.

    Anyone NOT having plastic surgery??

I had my surgery on 2/25/08 and so far I have no plans to have plastic surgery done. I am just happy to be getting healthier. Surgery is a big deal for me. It has never been easy. I have had problems with blood sugar, blood pressure and anestisia (sp?) when I have had surgery. I am not going to volunteer to have more done if I don't have to. I am lucky also to have a husband that has never complained about my body fat or skinny (more fat than skinny). I must admit it would be nice to have firm breasts again but.......it is not necessary.
  9. PLEASE be careful. There is a reason the doctors have us on a limited diet . We have had major surgery and our tummies need to heal. I worry that you may be damaging the healing process. I am 13 days post op and I am very hungry. It is all I can do to not eat. Plus, I haven't lost any weight yet. It is very frustrating for me. I read all the postings of people that are dropping weight right after surgery and I get upset because I am not. I just keep in mind (I tell my self this all day long)that I am healing and I can lose weight when the healing is done. Please, please take care to not ruin the surgery process. Things should get better.
  10. I also suffer from Pantars. They were not as worried about that as they were blood clots. I guess this can be a problem after surgery. I had leg things on that helped with circulation. Good luck to you. This is a good site to get a lot of infor.
  11. Hi Lise, I too am i the same H%^$ as you are in. I had surgery on 2/25/08 and I have only dropped 1/2 lbs as of 3/3. I have a friend that has lost over 30 lbs in 2 months since her surgery so I have expected the same for my self and I think that is why I am so fustrated. I weigh 2x a week and tomorrow I will see if I have dropped any more. I have my fingers crossed. I lost 25 lbs in 2 months prior to surgery, how about you? Maybe that has left me at a plateau. Good luck to you
  12. I am 8 days post op and following my liquids only to the tee. I am also hungry. I am having 70-80 in protein a day (as per dr). I got on the scale yesterday, 1 week post op, and I have only lost 1/2 pound. I lost 25 pounds in 2 months prior to surgery with diet and exercise so I thought that with the band the weight would "fall" off. My husband says it is because I had to stay extra with a IV and that I am retaining h20 plus I wasn't apple to exercise like I was prior to surgery. I am hungry and confused. Today I get to walk 1/4 mile for the first time since surgery, Maybe that will help. __________________

have not loss in 2 weeks

Shortgal, thanks for that. I just seem to be very fustrated right now. I get even more so when I hear people complain that have already had success with their bands.
  14. I hear so much about head hunger. I know that at night I have this because this has always been a problem for me. I am fighting it now and not giving in because I want this to work so badly. I do know that I wake up with my stomach talking loudly to me and it doesn stop until after dinner every day. I am now 9 days post op, I have lost only a 1/2 of a pound, I have not had a bowel movement since March 30th, and when I did it was not runny. I am sticking to this diet because I am died serious about this working for me. If it weren't for this site I would be more fustrated than I already am. It is hard to read about people that lose right away and then complain because the are in limbo. I seemed to have started this thing out in limbo. What is saving me from madness is this site and the knowledge that I am doing this for my health and that losing the weight is just a side effect of getting healthy.

have not loss in 2 weeks

I lost 25 before surgery and since surgery (2/25/08) 1/2 pound. Talk about fustrated. I am sticking to my liquid diet and not cheating. For you, you have lost some since the banding so at least you know it works. I am not sure if this is going to work for me at all.

8 days post op, hungry, no weight off

Tarasa, Thanks for letting me know that i am not the only one this is happening to. I think what is fustrating me most is that on a number of postings I see people comment about "are you really hungry or is it in your head". I know the difference. When I wake up in the morning and my stomach is moving around like it has not had food in hours, I am hungry. My stomach is doing this all day long. This is not in my head, it is in my belly. I am still on liquids and will be until monday (5 more days). I can only hope that puree foods will take care of the hunger. Please feel free to write me so we can compare progress.

  18. I had my surgery on 2/25/08am, I woke up this morning, with my stomache letting me know that I was hungry. I had 75 gr of Protein yesterday. My doc said to stay around 70grams. Is there anyone else out there that was this hungry this soon after surgery? Also, I have not had a BM since surgery, should I be worried?

    Hypothyroid

Lorrie, I have had major hypothyroid problems since I was 12. I finally had the darn thing radiated when I was 37. I suffered from cysts, noduils (sp?) and a goiter. My moods were outragous. I don't think the meds should change after banding. Once a thyroid patient, always a thyroid patient. You may have a little change but not because of weight loss. I hope I am wrong for your sake. Good luck with the surgery

    post op diet question???

pain in the shoulder? Some of us had hiatal hernias(sp?) fixed while the doc was banding. This causes the pain in the left shoulder. Check with your doc. You could be having pain from hernia repair instead of band.
  21. I started off with the plan to be an out patient but because of nausea and dizziness I ended up staying a night in the hospital. The nurses acted like this was no big deal. Is there other's out there that had to spend the night too?:smile2:

    Left shoulder pain??

:smile2::tt2:I had my band on 2/25/08. My doctor said that I had a hiatal hernia that she repaired. She told me that would cause pain in my left shoulder, so far I have been lucky with now pain.

    Swimming after surgery???

My doc told me 4 weeks until swimming or taking a bath. I can shower, which is nice bugalu
  24. My insurance requires me to put in 6 months weight management prior to surgary. The problem is that I am having trouble taking off weight like the dietician wants me too. I am walking alot and I have started Yoga but the food is still the issue. Now the dietician wants me to see the Shrink so we can discuss my "issues". Last month she, the dietician, made me cry. She keeps asking me what I am getting from overeating that makes me continue the habit. I told her that this is a question I have asked myself millions of times and that I would not be in this condition if I knew the answer to this. Now, I am worried that my "Issue" may keep me from surgery. What do you all think? I know that I am not the only one with this "Issue" Bugalu

    Don't look at me!!!!

Wow! I think I just had a revelation while I was reading this thread. I am 42 and I am at 41 BMI. As a third grader I was molested by a family friend. At the age of 6 I was coersed into helping a man look for his lost puppy at the park. I followed the man to his car while he told me how beautiful I was. Just before i got in the car I heard my mother yelling for me franticly. Then in the 6th grade I was molested by a family member. I began to put weight on. I didn't like my curves. I didn't want breast, my period or anything that made me more of a woman. I cried the day I had to wear a bra and I had my period. By the sixth grade I had a thyroid problem that made me drop my chub and I became quite curvy and i attracted a lot of attention from boys that was positive but i also got a lot of attention from girls that was very negative. I still kept the same group of girl friends from childhood but all new girls didn't seem to like me. By nineth grade I entered a local Junior Miss pagent and won. Once again, there was alot of attention from men/boys but the girls that were not already my friends hated me. I ended up meeting my future husband in high school. Boys left me alone after this, My future husband was a athlete and the other boys were not going to mess with him. This still left me with girl issues. The weight started to come back on. My husband and I have been together for 25 years total. He loves me and is very effectionate with me no matter what I look like. Ten years ago we moved from the area we grew up in and I met a bunch of great girls that I love to spend time with. It took me 8 years to tell them about the Junior miss pagent. I hid my old trophy and pictures of the pagent. I used to think that it was because of how embarressed I was that I had let myself grow so huge but after reading this thread I think it is because I am affraid of the negative attention this might all bring. I am currently waiting for my surgary in October. I am having no trouble exercising but I am having trouble dropping any weight and until now I couldn't figure it out why I would sabbatage myself.....now I know, I am afraid to stand out, to be special in any way that might draw attention to me. I now need to figure out what to do now. Bugalu
