What I craved most after surgery wasn't food, it was an icy cold coca-cola. I craved it for a week or two and now nothing. 3 weeks banded, and I'm good. Although, when friends drink soda in front of me, it's a little tough. But, I love lemonade and most places serve lite lemonade. Also, I make Crystal lite at home in a fancy glass pitcher with ice and I cut up lemons and put them in. It's yummy. I do the same with Water. It's like being at a restaurant! I love it! Lisalu

Good luck Porc! Check in and let us know how you're doing. Christine, I am so wanting to go thrift store shopping for my new wardrobe. I think I'm weird, but I love the comfortable, worn feeling of well-washed used clothing. I have some great stores where I buy all my stuff. Confession - tonight was the first time I ate with nothing to sip (like I've supposed to have been doing all along). It really wasn't so bad. I'm hoping this helps kick-start the weightloss again. I've been banded for over 3 weeks, eating small amounts of food now and put a couple pounds back on. My body was just so use to liquids. I have only lost 12 post op. But, I am patient. 20 total. HI! I didn't have any crying jags after my surgery, but I was warned about them and fully expected to be emotional. I think because I prepared for it, it really didn't happen to me. I also didn't have staples or the surgical socks. I walked a lot though, right when I got home. I think I did a half mile day 3 after surgery and then gradually worked up to 30 min - 1 hour of walking per day. I did have some kind of leg things in the hospital that plugged in and sort of massaged my legs. I had to wear them the whole time in the hospital (24 hours), but no take home surgical socks. I think I felt almost 100% better about 2 weeks post op. I was banded on May 2nd. I feel 100% now and have started eating solid foods in small amounts. I just chew, chew, chew. I have experienced the stuck feeling a couple times, but it goes away within a minute or two. Good luck to all May bandsters! & God bless! Lisalu

Someone remind me. Why are we not supposed to drink when we eat? I was banded 3 weeks ago and I am able to drink & eat, but have not had a fill yet. I too take little sips. But, I can't remember why I'm not supposed to? Anyone?

I've had that problem as well as a super full tummy. Today I had chicken broth and it felt like my stomach was going to explode about an hour later so after walking a couple miles (to get rid of gas) I finally had to take pain medication to get rid of the pain. Has anyone else's tummy felt like that? I have not vomited, just unbearable fullness. I was banded 7 days ago. Should I call the doc? I have an appointment Tuesday. Thanks for any input! LisaLu

Ok, I'm a little nervous, 7 days post-op and I haven't had any spitting up problems (poor debbydo - I'm praying for you), but my stomach feels so full, like it's going to burst. I have to keep taking my pain medication. I had half cup of chicken Soup broth today and felt so extremely full all day. I don't know if there's something wrong. I have a follow up appointment on Tuesday, but I just hate not knowing if something's wrong or not. I don't know if I should wait. I have not really consumed anything in the last seven days (besides an accidental oatmeal - see prior post), I've only drank Water and eaten s/f popsicles. I wish I knew if this is normal or not. Any ideas anyone? LisaLu

Brenda, That is pretty scary. I had a scare yesterday myself. I feel so stupid. Switched to mushies. Substituted oatmeal for maltomeal. Had about 3 or 4 tablespoons and it expanded it my stomach and I thought it was going to explode. All I could do all night was lay and rub my belly. Feel much better this morning, but may never eat oatmeal again. The two are not the same at all. I love oatmeal though, and not such a big fan of maltomeal. Think I'll switch back to liquids for a few more days. At least those s/f popsicles don't hurt my tummy. I was so scared I had damaged my band somehow. But, I never did vomit. Learned my lesson the hard way as I'm sure many bandsters have. Feeling a little foolish...... LisaLu

Welcome Home Debbydo! Stay home and take care of yourself girl! I'm glad things are going well for you. I'm feeling better everyday too! 4th day post op and the pain is gone, just the gas to deal with now. LisaLu

I love honesty that is that humorous. I just had lapbandsurgery two days ago, couldn't tell by looking down how many incisions doc gave me. Also, had to look in the mirror. I can't wait to be able to cross my legs without holding onto my foot and bend over without holding my breath! Thanks for the good giggles! LisaLu :laugh

Hi All, Glad to be home~ I was SO NERVOUS! Everything went well. I haven't eaten anything but sugarless Jello and sugarfree popsicles in 2 days, nothing on the day of the surgery. I feel good, except for the gas. Today was the first day I didn't take pain medication and I felt good all day. Walking definitely helps to get rid of the gas, even small walks. Good luck to all May bandsters. It's better than I expected! I haven't felt hunger yet, but am craving something crunchy! LisaLu

I think I'm more nervous now that I have read this whole website. But, it is good for me to be well informed. Good luck to all May bandsters! I'll post more later this week! It's comforting to be able to see how everyone else is doing, to have this place to keep in touch! Lisa C
