February Sleevers.... Check in!
onlybroomegirl replied to Lulah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey guys! My hair is falling out too! Luckily mine was really thick to begin with. Had labs done last week. My A1c was 5.1!!!!! It was 8.4 preop. Actually all my labs were normal including my liver enzymes. So happy & blessed -
What's the timeline for eating some of these typical foods?
onlybroomegirl replied to hrhlaurie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doc said NO bread, pasta, rice or potatoes for a year. Probably due to carbs not the fact that the sleeve might not like it. Our Mexican restaurant has something called vaca flaca tacos (I think). It is marinated steak with cilantro inside a lettuce leaf. When you get to regular foods, it's a nice alternative. -
Scared and overthinking it?

You are going to be fine!! My "stall" lasted about 2weeks! Although frustrating, it is normal. & you are probably losing inches. Take your measurements! -

Any February 2014 Sleevers?
onlybroomegirl replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey guys! Just had to share. Blood work last week at my annual GYN exam. Hemoglobin A1c = 5.1 !!!!!!! It was 8.4 before surgery & I have had NO medication for diabetes since 1 day pre-op. All lab values are normal! Including my liver enzymes, which my PCP said would be the last thing to correct itself. When I showed my husband, he said, " you may have just saved your life!" This hasn't been easy, but every sacrifice is SO worth it! I feel so grateful & blessed! -

onlybroomegirl replied to slocin12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you getting your fluids in? You maybe thirsty. They say that can mimic hunger. You can do this! I found some chicken jerky 17 gm of protein per ounce 0 carbs & it fills me up. Good luck! -

You look amazing ! Congrats!!!

I would only use Accutane if the acne is cystic & severe. It does work, but it's hard on your system & can cause birth defects. If y'all only have a few places on your face, you won't qualify for Accutane. Good luck!

1 month from surgery...nervous about pre-op diet
onlybroomegirl replied to wittygirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The preop is worse than the postop! I had a 2week preop & you still feel hungry. After the first 4 days or so, it's really not that bad. I have found, as with most things on this journey, about 90% of it is mental. Get the junk out of your house. You can do this! The payoff is SO worth it!! Best of luck. -
Started Pureed Food/Sharp Stomach Pain
onlybroomegirl replied to Free2BMee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try smaller bites. & go slow! Make sure the food is moist. I agree if it doesn't get better call your doc. My doctor said if you had pain at one stage to go back down a stage & wait a little longer. Best of luck! -
Diva, hang in there! It will get better. As long as they have checked you out medically, you are going to be ok! The first few days are truly the hardest. It really does get better every day. I didn't have any complications, but the first month IS hard. Praying you through this. We are here for you if you need us.

Count me in! This will be my first challenge. So excited. Thanks for doing this!

Where can you get that? I live in a small town in the Midwest. All we have is a Walmart and a dollar general lol! Can you purchase online, if not available at the 2 stores I have here in town? Do they have a website? I'm sure there's a website. But you can get at stores like sephora or ulta & they are both online. Also available from QVC. It has improved my complexion & I make my boys use it too. They are teens & it helps if I can get them to be consistent!

There is a line called Nioxin, I think. You can get it at super cuts & salons. It might help -
I love Philosophy's Purity made simple cleanser! You can even use it to remove eye makeup!

Feb 19. Down 71lbs total. I lot 22 in 2 week preop. I feel amazing!!! I have so much more energy! I am down from a 20-22 to mostly 14s! I can go in a store & buy regular clothes! I haven't been able to do that in almost 19 years. I did treat myself to some things at a consignment sale last week. It was fun! & I'm in a large scrub pants, down from a 2x. My hair is starting to fall out though:( luckily I have a lot of hair! -
