  1. That is so frustrating! I'm almost 8 weeks out. I hit 2 small stalls. And even gained 2 lbs the other day. I freaked out! Like y'all, I was doing everything. My dr told me to stop looking at the scale and check how my clothes fit. Like I can not weigh! Lol. But, I know I've been doing it right and when I weighed yesterday, I dropped 3 lbs. Just keep on keeping on. It will drop over night. If you're tracking everything, you can call or email your NUT to make sure all is well. Make sure, if you are at a stage to eat, that you are eating something so your body doesn't think you are starving. I'm eating about 2 oz every 3-4 hrs per my surgeon and NUT.
  2. How far out are you? And how long have you been in a stall?

    antibiotics?

Congrats on your surgery! I hope all went well! I didn't have any antibiotics, unless they happen to put some in my IV when I was in the hospital but I don't think they did. I was given a liquid pain med but only used it 2 or 3 times after coming home. I did like the anti nausea med I was given. Lol. And at my 2 week follow up he gave me an antacid. But I haven't needed it. And yes, getting liquids and protein in can be a chore! lol.
  4. Had my sleeve 5/1. Sooo good to get some updates from y'all. Been thinking about my fellow May sleevers! I'm doing pretty good. I feel great and eating pretty much anything (dr approved stuff), haven't had problems with what I eat. It's hard getting in all the vitamins, and protein, and fluid, and "waiting 30 before and after and not during." Lol. It's a juggle. I'm down 40 lbs though and so worth it! I hope that's a good loss! I haven't had to take metformin since day of surgery and blood pressure has come down to well into normal range. I'm still waiting for all this energy they say I should have. Don't get me wrong...I feel good. And I track my calories, protein, fluids, etc.. but I don't have this busting energy. :/
  5. You're probably feeling that way because your body isn't handling the strict diet. It might be best if you let your surgeon or Nut know. As for the medicinal marijuana, I think if your surgeon doesn't want you to smoke cigarettes, he/she might not want you smoking anything else. If nothing else but a compromise to your lungs. But if it's legal where you are, it won't hurt to ask the doc. Good luck on your journey! Keep us updated.
  6. Liquid in, liquid out is what my dr told me. :/
  7. Sorry to hear you feel so bad. I was sleeved on May 1st so we're close. Are you getting in all your liquid and protein? It makes a huge difference. I also take B complex every day. Yes, breath is an issue, especially if you don't get enough fluid. And protein shakes don't help it! Call your doc. At this point you should be able to chew sugar free gum as long as you don't swallow it of course. Hope you feel better soon!

    Exhausted!

Protein shakes are on the full liquid diet. Check with your doctor, but having protein powder mixed with some skim milk or juice may help.
  9. Being 4 days out, that's still a rough time. It will get better. It took several days for the gas to start moving out and boy was it a big relief when it did!! Did you get a script for pain meds? Take it before the pain gets too much. Any movement at this stage is going to help. That and fluids. Getting in as much fluid and protein as possible will help you feel better. Praying for you.
  10. I agree, you are probably dehydrated at this point. An ER trip may not be a bad idea. And if you end up being fine, then that's great. Better to go and not need it and to need it and not go. Praying for you. And hang in there, it will get better. Each day.

    Exhausted!

Protein helps your tummy heal and feeds your muscles while your body is in "starvation" mode. Our body doesnt need to burn muscle, it needs to burn our fat. If you are looking unflavored, Isopure and Unjury both have excellent unflavored proteins. What has your NUT or surgeon set up for what you can have at this stage? I was on liquid the 1st 2 weeks. I just started pureed.

    Exhausted!

Are you getting in all your fluids and protein? I know I'm more sluggish on days I don't get in my liquids. It's hard but push it, you'll feel better for it. Also, in the morning, if I'm slow, I drink some broth (love the wonton soup broth from the Chinese restaurant) and it seems to add the salt or something I need. Hope you feel better soon!

    Any May sleevers out there?

I am SICK of protein shakes..lol! I'm only drinking them because I HAVE to.

    Any May sleevers out there?

It will get better. I was sleeved on May 1st. I slept in the living room chair for over a week! I still have to sleep propped up and can only lay in my left side. The liquids, the protein, and the vitamins your surgeon requires are so important. I always feel better when I'm meeting the goals. As soon as I don't I start to feel bad. It does get better, hang in there. Think of the goal, not the crappy moment you're in. Good luck!!

    2 days post op

I don't have any other advice. Sounds like you are doing everything they told me to do to get the gas out. I'm lucky, I hear, that mine didn't settle in my shoulder. I do know we have to keep taking deep breaths even though it hurts. For our lungs sake. I'm sorry you are in so much pain. Maybe call the dr and see if they have any other thoughts. :/
