    Is this really happening?

Really don't know about the next appointment. Spoke to secretary when I got home. She said she will be speaking to the consultant on Monday. I suppose I shall here after that. The good news was when I got home the post had been and I had 'the letter' offering me my date, NOT mentioning conditional, so, that sounded better to me. So wound up that I phoned up to see of any last minute cancelations for aqua aerobics. And yes, there was one place, so off I went, and took it out on the water. What a good workout!!!!!!!

    Is this really happening?

Oh noooooo got there ok, in good time. Ohhhhh, Willow, guess what..... The anaesthetist is on holiday, and all others were in theatre, or meetings. However, the one good thing was that I got my ECG and bloods done before the appointment with the anaesthetist. Can't tell you how emotional I feel. BP was up, but not surprising hey?

    Is this really happening?

Awe thank you. I'm so burying my head at the moment. Don't know what procedure I'm having, sleeve or bypass, are they gonna repair my hernia at the same time? I dunno!! And lastly, how is our business gonna work with 50% of the workforce not at her best for at least a week? Oh well.....

    Queen Alexandra, Portsmouth Hospitals, anyone?

Had the phone call this morning, with a provisional date of the 13th May, also said I need an appointment to get bloods done. After the shock, I thought about my appointment on this Friday, with the anaesthetist, maybe I could have my tests done on the same day? Long story short, the hospital phoned me back and yes, but I also have to have an ECG. The secretary then stated that it was all down to the anaesthetist as to if I can have the procedure or not !!! So I guess it's reasonable to say that I'm going from happy and excited to anxiety. Pleased really that I've got a couple of days to get used to the idea ????????????
  9. How true, I've lost my best friend of over twenty five years through WL, and I haven't had the surgery yet. When I think back she encouraged me to fail each and every time I started a new diet and WL regime..... This time I am not being stopped. Sad, but I lost my friend not my life...... Your boyfriend may be struggling to accept the changes this surgery may bring to you and your relationship. But don't be surprised if you have to choose. Good luck and I really hope that he turns the corner.

    UK Sleevers

Well, thank you willow. I too do not like milk, the only type I usually have in tea is skimmed, but the dietician said no for sure to that, recons that I won't get enough goodness from that. So it's gotta be semi skimmed, ahhhhh. And I will make the most of your knowledge too, when I've got some time I'd like to try and get my head around it.

    Losing it!

My daughter has had by pass surgery, and I can tell you that it is hard to see, if you see someone regularly, as it comes off all over. And, as you say we tend to hide the worst bits. Sometimes she had a stall with her weight, but her measurements would reduce significantly. And yes, her shoes got big. To be honest, she noticed her weight loss less than we did in the end. Also, I can tell you that no matter what size she was I loved unconditionally. Now, she is beginning to love herself too. Like most of us that are overweight, we don't really want to have our photographs taken, but if I had listened to her, and not forced the issue we would have no record of how well she has done. But, she did keep the largest pair of trousers that she had worn. Amazingly, she can fit in one leg with plenty of room to spare. So, let them take photos, today is tomorrows history, you'll look back, not just with pain, but with memories of your successful journey.

    Losing it!

I know exactly how you are feeling LoveIt, I too have lost, regained, and with interest too many times, although I haven't had my procedure, I too am worried that I will feel the same way. I'm lucky enough to have not thrown away any clothes yet, so just slipped back into them....... Good luck Loveit, I'm sure you'll turn a corner, and it will all come together and you will see with you eyes, what is in the mirror, and not what you look like from memory. If you can't do the photos, get someone near and dear to you to do them.

    UK Sleevers

Hiya DairyFairy, I feel so sorry for you not being offered the procedure on the NHS, there am I moaning about our local health authority, and what we have to do, and having to be BMI 50+, go on a six months course, hit WL targets, and delayed dates, lack of funding, oh, I could go on, but really compared to you I feel very lucky now. I just got so aught up in being envious of people from other areas having less of a minefield to pass through. I going off to count my blessings.

    UK Sleevers

Really!!!! I appreciate you probably didn't think that was terribly good at the time Willow, but I've been given the milk diet sheets to start, if, and when, they give me my date.... So, allowed four pint semi - skimmed milk per day, a sugar free jelly, sugar free squash, water and three sticks of sugar free chewing gum, ohhhh not forgetting an oxo, or similar, cube per day!!!!!! That's for the last two weeks before D Day. So, coz I've started to cut again, I think I might go for your pre-op diet. So, beware, I might get on your nerves...

    commitments

Well, we too have to be hitting BMI targets for surgery, so I understand where you're coming from. I think yeah, cut down on the stuff you know you gotta give up, gradually increase your exercise and you'll be well on the road to being ready and fit for your operation. I think you're in a good place where your food and health are concerned at the moment, keep it up. I've been following 'My 600lb Life' and watching these guys struggle with their addiction, and most of them turning a corner, becoming successful in their weight loss. It got me thinking, that we have a real fight ahead of us, that the surgery isn't the end of our problems. Also that I understand more now how some people become addicted to fitness and constantly weighing themselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm not someone who says 'well if that was me.....' because I have not experienced my journey yet. But what I am thinking is that because I am lucky enough to have found this site, I have become more informed, about the positives and negatives, and hopefully more prepared for what might lay ahead, even if there are some hiccups, that's all they are..... So JDillon, I guess what I'm saying is that you are ahead of the game by your prep, also that you've inspired me to get back on the wagon of healthy eating. Good luck to you

Less than a week to go.

Do you know what.... Some of these doctors get right on your nerves.... They think they know something, when they really don't. Why are we with consultants, who make recommendations, just for some GPs think they know better than a specialist..... Well what can you say, I just hope you've got it sorted now Willow. As for your weight I saw the slide where it looks as though you've lost a third of your weight from your target, I couldn't understand why you didn't seem too thrilled, now I understand why!!! So pleased with your progress with the Proteins, sounds like you're well on the way to recovery. Well done to you Ps I'll remember that about the soups
