Eventually you will be able to eat a variety of foods. And that's all you really need: variety. You might not be able to eat everything but the stuff you can't is the stuff you shouldn't anyway. I have a friend that only gets stuck on French fries. So she avoids them. I haven't drank soda, but I don't crave it either. I love the energy I get from avoiding sugar, so I choose wisely. Your band will tell you as you go what works for you. Just remember to chew and keep to low portions. Fight the mental hunger that messes up the plan. That is the main culprit for me. I have to really redirect myself when head hunger strikes.

I was on liquids only 3 weeks post surgery. Then I went to soft foods like a scrambled egg and retried beans. Tried to stay away from mashed potatoes. Didn't want to start bad habits on slider foods.

My Best Friend and my Boyfriend do Not Know!
kayzoog replied to everfeels9's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It seems you may need to tell them just to alleviate your feelings of having to hide it. It will weigh on your mind when you are in those intimate situations. That's no way to live. It bothered you enough to write it here. It has to be costing you mental bandwidth just thinking about it. I think you would feel better telling them. -
Anyone not have the band yet?

No Shame in My Game...I Told Everybody About My WLS
kayzoog replied to PrettyThick1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told everyone, too. I got a couple of people (personal trainer friends) tell me that they could help me so I wouldn't have to get surgery, but mostly I got a bunch of well-wishers and a few that wanted to learn more about the surgery for themselves. I do not regret having the surgery or telling everyone! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! :)K -
Wow- you started exactly where I started, and you are now exactly where I want to be! I'm hanging on to some old jeans, just to take a similar picture. I can't imagine wearing a 4! Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for the encouragement! I am happy to read your comment about my body stabilizing. It's a little discouraging to plateau, but I guess it's all part of the journey! K

Hi! It's been 100 days since my surgery date! I've posted a recap of the days and progress photos on my blog: http://banderland.weebly.com/100-days-of-lap-band.html I was hoping to be able to post that I lost a total of 50 lbs pre- and post-, but it's not meant to be! I have plateaued at 49 lbs for a week now!!! I'll take the good with the bad though. Lap-Band has been great to me. - K

How/Why did you choose Lap Band?
kayzoog replied to josiek1988's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose it because it made sense for the control I wanted to have. I like the idea that it can be adjusted through fills or removed all together. But, all Weight Loss Surgery has pros and cons. All methods have risks and rewards. All methods require work on your part to make weight loss happen. I had my Lap-Band done March 3, 2014. I love it and would do it again in a heartbeat. Find a surgeon you really trust and discuss the options. The important fact is that you are taking this step to a healthier life. Good luck! - K -
You are on your way now! Congrats!

Yes! I eat exactly like that! My go to is one egg, a cup of chili or a cup of refried Beans. Even with a restaurant size "cup" I am taking most of it home. Sometimes instead of ordering myself, I eat just a bit off of other people's plates. At home, I have bought really small fancy plates to eat on. I wrote about being a portion snob on my blog. I am not judging other people, but I do question the amount of food restaurants serve in one meal. It is almost impossible to order small sizes. Thanks for the topic! Sounds like you are doing great!

Slow loser... totally worth it :)

Congrats! You are looking really good. You are correct, everyone has their own journey. What counts is that you are on a journey that is working! -
Congrats! Take it easy and be proud of being on the other side. I tried to not take pain pills either because of the constipation. Tylenol worked really well for me.

Thank you! This is great inspiration. You sound very happy and you look amazing! - K

My port area was sore for a full month. I would do yoga, and could only do the stuff on the left side, not the right side where my port was because it was too sore. I would ask your doctor if it a constant bad pain.

I just got on a bike for the first time since before surgery. It is so much easier -45 lbs! When I hit -50, I am getting myself a new bike! Great idea for a motivation gift!
