  1. I thought the same thing initially until I started talking to "light weights" and realizing just because they're on the lighter side they still had issues like diabetes, high bp, sleep apnea and it all made sense.

How did you feel in recovery

I felt fine in recovery, in fact I was shocked I wasn't in pain at all. Later that evening and the next day nausea was the worst of it. Not much pain
  3. I'm the same way, I've lost 34 lbs and I'm still wearing the same clothes. Granted they're looser now. A lot of my clothes were slightly stretchy I believe that's why I still fit them, they were snug before. Also I think bigger size clothes have a bigger weight range they fit as opposed to smaller size clothes

Eating with Coworkers Who don't know

I know a couple of people that have slow digestive system, it's a medical condition and they have to eat small quantities of food per sitting or else they get sick. Tell them you have a medical condition. Then you're not lying.

    What do i do?!?

You need to ask yourself what health risk is greater? Wls or being obese along with the comorbidities that go along with obesity. My surgeon showed me statistics that reflected vsg surgery having less complications than gallbladder surgey and csections. Considering I've had both I felt ok to go thru with it

    What do i do?!?

I'm close to 3 weeks out, so far this is the best decision I could make. I regret that I didn't do this sooner. Follow your gut instinct, only you know what's best for you.
  7. Amazing! You guys look like a couple of high school kids.
  8. Took me 2 years to finally admit to myself that I couldn't do it on my own. After my first dr appt I had surgery 3 months later. Wish I would have done it 2 years ago.
  9. You may want to double check your weight loss benefit. If you get the band and God forbid there are issues that prevent it from working for you your insurance may not cover another surgery.

To date or not to date?

I'd wait a little bit to get back in the dating scene, unless of course it happens naturally and you meet someone by chance. Give yourself a few months to make yourself a priority. As far as online dating, I met my husband 14 years ago online. I lived in California, he lived in Pennsylvania. I relocated after a couple years and here I am. Love the guy to death! I was thinner when we met, I gained 50lbs through out our relationship and he never once made me feel undesirable. He's been amazingly supportive through this process. It is possible to meet a great guy, just avoid those "hook up" sites.

    Breakfast cereal.

I have whole grain cream of wheat, add unsweetened applesauce, splenda, cinnamon and vanilla.
  12. What a horrendous story. Have you contacted an attorney? You may not be able to sue the dr., but MBC as the broker who accepted your money has some liability. I'd also file a complaint with the better business bureau.
  13. I'm close to 2 weeks post op now, I think I could handle work if I had to but it would be hard. I get tired easy and my abdomen is still pretty tender. I can't twist or bend over and touch the ground.
  14. It really depends on your dr. Took me a week to get in after my info session. Almost 3 months to the day I had surgery

    Confused

If your employer says it's covered and a rep at the insurance says it's covered it should be covered. It sounds like it's an extra benefit employers can purchase. It's probably not standard coverage
  16. Google ricotta bake, I've heard people rave about it. I don't remember off the top of my head but it's basically ricotta, cheese and sauce. Perfect for pureed stage and it has lots of protein

    Tomorrow is my surgery

Congrats! I'm having surgery tomorrow too. I'm so excited it's finally here

    Protien shakes & other drinks

Syntrax nectars are great. My husband even likes them and he hates protein shakes.

Did anyone have a last meal?

I did, I went to a nice Italian restaurant loaded up on carbs like pizza, calamari, fresh bread and pasta. I didn't eat a whole bunch just a few tastes of everything.

    Is a sleeve the answer?

My surgery is Monday, one of the big contributing factors for me was hip and knee pain. I have a family history of diabetes so I know that's around the corner. A vsg seemed like a better option than a hip/knee replacement. My bmi was 41, my insurance will only cover weight loss surgery for bmi over 40 or 35 if I have a comorbidity. I'd look into what your insurance covers.
  21. Mine didn't, but my kids pediatrician charges for school physicals paperwork and drivers license medical clearance. They're allowed to do it, I think it's bad PR personally.

    Beat thing i ever did!

It's amazing how being overweight makes us look much older. You look fantastic, you look 10 years younger. Congrats!

Congrats! I'm having surgery Monday at HUP in Philly
