pre-op and starving!
kimpossible80 replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it!! You are in the home stretch!! I started feeling less starved around day 4-5. I bought some herbal teas- some of them have great flavor and break up the monotony. Plus, warm liquids made me feel more satisfied for whatever reason! -
Rate of weight loss

Thanks! I know I'm too focused watching the number on the scale! -
Enough of the super sweet protein!
kimpossible80 replied to Justicenga's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you on the sweet drinks!! Blah! Have you tried cream of tomato soup? Campbells made with fat free milk is 10 grams of Protein per cup. I've been drinking that every day! Wegmans has a chicken broth that is 4grams of protein per cup and only 30 calories. I also put a spoonful of plain greek yogurt on sugar free Jello. It cut's the sweetness and it's sort of like whipped topping (not according to anyone else in my family...lol) Definitely going to try taco seasoning in my greek yogurt too! -

first Dr visit today
kimpossible80 replied to loseit2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hooray! Congratulations! My surgery was 3/25 and I've lost 10 pounds consuming between 600-800 calories a day. Is your calorie intake more/less? I see the doctor this afternoon and hope to be cleared for Stage 3. Do you feel any restrictions when eating? I've been able to eat yogurts on Stage 2, but haven't ever had any restrictive feelings when eating or drinking. This is probably a good thing, but it seems like most people do have some restrictive feelings when eating/drinking. I am so worried about stretching my sleeve out move to regular eating. -
Things you thought you'd miss but you don't?

Coffee! I'm only 2 weeks post op, but I thought I would really have a hard time without my cup of joe! My husband and I would always get up a have a cup (or several cups!) of coffee early in the morning before we woke the kids up. I've been drinking decaf green tea instead and having a warm cup of something to wrap my hands around seems to fulfill my fix! -
I know everyone's rate of weight loss is different. I've lost 10 pounds in the 2 weeks since my surgery. Is that average? I feel like it's on the slow side. I'm only consuming 600-800 calories a day and walking every day. How is everyone else doing?
-
Good info. I do remember my nutritionist saying our bodies can't digest more than 30 grams of protein at one meal, so it might be a good idea to split it into 2 shots! I've also found that if I mix in a tablespoon of SF pudding powder or SF flavored coffee creamer into my protein shakes it cuts the whey after taste.

Surgery is in four days!
kimpossible80 replied to tanaproma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Going to sleep under anesthesia is pain free. I did have pain afterwards but it's kind of a surreal experience with the pain medication and I kept falling back asleep. I felt some discomfort the next day, but nothing significant. Best of luck to you! -
THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...
kimpossible80 replied to HumanMerelyBeing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great post! I'm two weeks out- yesterday was the first day I felt like my normal energy level was returning! Walking is so important, no matter how slow you go! -
I've been doing between 15-30 minutes a day. Today I did 40 minutes on the treadmill at the gym!

Newbie here, 3 weeks post op
kimpossible80 replied to princessdi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! I'm just shy of two weeks post op. I have a very hard time with the shakes too. The easiest ones for me are the Atkins Advantage and the No Sugar Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with fat free milk. They are 13-15 gms a serving. My doctor allows yogurt and cream Soups on Stage 2. So greek yogurt and tomato Soup have been my friends during this stage. My 2 week follow up is Wednesday and hopefully I will get the green light to move to pureed foods! Kim -

Inspiring! Good work -
4 months post op~ had a very bad eating day and am in a lot of pain
kimpossible80 replied to kyleebean's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I my NUT advised no popcorn for at least one year out. She said the kernel pieces, like the ones that get stuck between your teeth can actually get stuck in your sleeve. Ouch! I would suggest keep moving around and drinking your fluids. Don't let one bad day get you down! -

@@lindwalt I'm still 4 days out, but I've read others say to cut carbs when you hit a stall and try to reach 800 calories a day - are refried beans high i carbs compared to chicken? Also focus on your non scale victories....down 2 pant sizes...woo hoo for you!
