Yay! We all made it to June relatively unscathed! I'm anxious to hear about those in our group who go in this week. Good luck to all and keep us posted!!!! :-D -

You'll have to be sure to give us updates, I think you're the first of this group to have surgery. Good luck!!!!
-
PS- I lost 3.5 pounds since yesterday morning!!!!! How crazy is that?? Yay Opti-Fast shakes!!! My good friend had her bypass done last August and she told me that she lost 42 pounds in three weeks while doing the Opti-Fast diet pre-surgery. If I can hit 260 before my surgery I'll be one very happy girl. Currently I'm 284.8.

Day two of liquid diet. Not as bad as I thought, although I woke up with a whopper of a headache this morning, not sure if the two are related or not, lol. Twenty two days till my surgery!! Anyone else going in on the 19th of June for their bypass??

Well...... I start my all liquid diet tomorrow for three weeks, then it's time for my SURGERY!!!!!! :-D

Well, I just stepped on the scale for the first time in two weeks and I'm down seven pounds, despite the food funerals I've been having in anticipation of my all liquid diet starting this Thursday. I'm jumping for joy because I had gained 15 pounds in a month after a medication switch. I was worried they might cancel my surgery. Sooooo- YAY!! Lol.

I'm 5"9" tall and according to every doctor I saw when I was thin- said I should weigh between 160-170 lbs, which puts me in the normal BMI range of 22-25. However, up until I was about 28 years old, I weighed 135-140 lbs, and I felt the best. And wore a size two. I'm hoping to get back down to that weight. Which means I have to lose exactly half of my current body weight of 280 lbs. But like I said in my last post- I'm going to take it ten pounds at a time. :-)

I think the doctors are afraid of setting us up for failure if the number is too low. But I have more than a few friends that have gone through the surgery and easily surpassed the doctor's guessed weight and ended up at their own goal weight. I plan to take it ten pounds at a time. Then every ten pounds is a victory and can really boost your confidence for the next ten pounds. And makes you grateful for this opportunity of bariatric surgery.

We also have to get the vitamins and supplements we will need to take immediately after surgery, and they have to be chewable or liquid form. That cost over $150.00. And I had to switch up some of my regular prescriptions to ones that could either be crushed or in liquid form. And liquid form of my antidepressants was $140.00 vs $20.00. It's been an expensive month with those and all the vitamins and optifast shakes. But I suppose since I won't be eating regular food, I'll save a bit of money, lol. Also, things are more expensive to buy here in Canada vs the USA.

Anyone from Ontario on here?

How did your surgery go? -
I don't have benefits/private insurance, so I had to pay out of pocket. But I can claim it on next years income tax return, so that'll help a bit.

It's a doctor prescribed shake. I had a written prescription to have filled at the pharmacy. It's made by Nestle. I'm only allowed to drink the four shakes each day. That and as much water as I want. Talk about boring. It's complete nutrition in a shake. I'm supposed to lose 30-40 pounds in three weeks while I'm on it. And it cost me $300 for three weeks worth. Not cheap.
-
Is there anyone on here also having to do three weeks of Optifast shakes? I start on the 29th of May and I am dreading it. :-(

June 19th!!!
-
One month today for me, June 19th can't come soon enough!!!!!
-
Mine is June 19th and everyday I tell my kids, 33 days, now 32 days, etc. lol. I'm driving them nuts with my excitement. It's like a Christmas countdown for me.
-
That's a great attitude!! I hadn't thought of it that way. :-)

You're lucky. My Optifast liquid is diet is for three weeks. Not looking forward to it at all, lol. But it's for a good cause so I better not complain too much.
