  1. I was not really nervous until they started taking me back to the operating room and they have me a shot in my IV and all of it went away. Good luck and congratulations.
  2. Surgery was April 1st and I just move to soft foods last week. At my appointment my doc told me to stay between 600 - 800 calories and to log in MFP. Every time I complete my day it tells me unless I up my calories then my body will go into starvation mode. Should I be worried? Is this going to happen?
  3. Thank you everyone. This makes me feel a lot better. I will just keep doing what my doctor has advised and stay at 600 - 800 per day.

    Anyone banded in April?

I was banded April 1st and will not get my first full until may 15th. I lost 12 pounds preop and 11 post op. I just started soft foods on 17th and only lost a pound since then, so things have slowed way down. Doctor wants me to do 600 to 800 calories a day but at times I feel I could eat more, so I know how you feel. With post I have read it is pretty normal not to lose a lot during this stage so I am trying to keep that in mind.
  5. 2 1/2 weeks post of and it was my first day of soft foods. I made 1/2 cup egg beaters with some cheese for dinner and it took me about 40 minutes to eat it all. Am I eating to slow?

    Am i eating to slow

Thank you so much. I really appreciate everyone's help. Seems like all the reading material that I got from my docs office pertained to the sleeve and bypass.

    Am i eating to slow

Thank you everyone. I think I am doing better today with eating. I ate tuna and cottage cheese for lunch and was able to finish most of it. I may stick to protein shakes for breakfast because my oatmeal was just not that great. When they first told me to stay between 600 to 800 calories my eyes popped out of my head, but for now that is good because I am really not that hungry yet ( knock on wood).

    Am i eating to slow

I think I am so scared to take a big bite or not chew it enough or take a bite to quickly after the previous one and that is why it took so long. How long should you wait between bites?

    Got some good news today

    Congrats! That is wonderful news
  10. I am 2 weeks post op and I know the pain all to well you talking about. It seemed to me that after the 5th day it seemed to get better, but would get the shoulder pain once in a while. The following helped me: get up and walk every hour, heating pad for my shoulder, ice packs for my stomach and chewable gas-x. Also liquid extra strength Tylenol. I was Ali very constipated the first three days which lead to a lot of pressure so I used Miralax. Hope this helps.

    Lap Band Tomorrow

    Good luck tomorrow.
  12. I am 3 days post of and I have gas pains in my left shoulder but also at the base of my neck on the left side. It is pretty sharp pain. Anyone else experience this and when will it go away?
  13. Thank you. I think right now I am at about 600 calories but each day is getting better, so hope to be up to 800 soon.
  14. Ow man ounces of a protein shake should I be drinking a week post op? I have been making an 8oz protein drink and it usually takes me 30 to 45 min to drink it. Is this normal?
  15. Just went to dr and found out I have thrush. They have me Nystatin to swish and swallow. Has anyone had to do this? How did your stomach react to swallowing it

    April 3rd band date

I was banded April 1st and doing good now. First couple days were yucky and gas lasted through yesterday (day 5). I still have some pain when I move certain ways but other then that I am good. I go back to work tomorrow, which scares me a little. I am able to drink my protein better at this point and getting in what my doctor recommends.
  17. Up at 3:20am to get to the hospital for my 7am surgery. Not super nervous yet, but I am waiting for it to hit me. I think the thing that has me most nervous is a friend is taking me and my husband is meeting us at the hospital after I am in surgery. So, not seeing him right before surgery makes me sad. I guess it is what it is and now on to positive thoughts. I will be banded today ????

    April 22 Lap Band Op

I am April 1st. Two and a quarter days left. I am nervous but so ready. Did some house cleaning and arranged all my stuff on a shelf in the pantry so I don't have to bend down a lot. Tomorrow I will pack my bag for the hospital.
  19. I just finished day 10 of my preop diet with surgery on April 1st. I read a lot on here that after day 3 it got better, but I would have never believed it with the way I was feeling. However, day 4 came and my hunger was reduced and I found my groove. So, hang in there and when u see the scale move you will know it is worth it. I am down 11 pounds as of this morning and have 3 days left.

    Anyone banded in April?

Just called and got my time for my surgery on Tuesday. Have to be there at 6:30am and surgery is at 8am. I am asking a friend to drive me to the hospital, so my husband can get our son off to school. I hope he makes it before they take me back. Made me a little nervous to know the time.

    Anyone banded in April?

Sorry prettyandbrwn, I can understand. I was doing the same thing for a while. I think about my 5 year old son a lot and the impact on him if something goes wrong in surgery. I always feel really bad when I have to yell at him for misbehaving and not what I want him to remember. I am so emotional and tired right now from this pre op diet and I am down 10.5 pounds which encourages me to keep going. I have 4 days left and I know this has a chance to really improve my health, the way I view myself and give me more energy to be a better mom for my son.

    Anyone banded in April?

Welcome to the group. I am nervous as well, but then I think of where I would be a year from now if I don't go through with it and I relax a bit. I do get a little more nervous as each day passes I am down to 8 days until my surgery.

    Anyone banded in April?

I start my pre op diet again for the second time around, which is kind of scary. I hope I can do as well this time. I was having weird dreams as well when I first saw my doctor and would wake up in a panic. I think mine had more to do with he wanted me to think about getting the sleeve and when I decided I did not want that at all and I set my mind on the band they went away. I have been a little emotional as my surgery date gets closer. I think my biggest fear right now is being put under for the surgery. For some reason this scares me so bad. I have been put under for various things 10 time in my life, but has scared me every time. I have told a bunch of co workers and friends and all have been supportive and are excited for me. My husband also supports my decision and I have tried to explain this to my 5 year old son as best as I can.

    Anyone banded in April?

My pre op diet I think is a little better then most I have seen in here but still hard. I get 4 protein shakes per day, one small meal of baked chicken or fish with a non starchy veggie and water soluble fruits in between. The fruit was my lifesaver last time around. What does yours consist of?

    Anyone banded in April?

My surgery date is now April 1st. Originally I was scheduled for March 18th, but got a call Friday with 4 days left of my pre op diet that my doctor was sick and was rescheduling all of his surgeries. I was pretty bummed and at first I doubted my decision. I will be restarting the pre op diet tomorrow and excited for April 1st to get here.
