Gastric band surgery 25th june 2014 post op help needed
RedStorm replied to linsuk's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 3 months out and I still feel my port when I lay on my left side only. Sometime I have to move because it is bothersome if I lay in it wrong. -
I had a similar experience last Thursday. I had my surgery April 1st and this was my first fill. The PA poked me at lead t5 different times and pressed on me so hard and she could not find the area to stick the needle. Then the doctor came in and did the same thing. I bled through three bandaids and still have a huge bruise. I went and got my fill done under fluoroscopy yesterday and my port is tilted and that is why they could not find the right spot. Under the X-ray they were able to push in the right spot and in one stick it was done. My suggestion is get done under fluoroscopy.

Congratulations. I had to sleep in the recliner for about 3 days, but after that I could lay in the bed as long as I was propped up and not flat. Good luck and each day it will get better.

July Challenge-Summer Challenge
RedStorm replied to lisaholland73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Name, real or screen: Vicki (RedStorm) Goal Weight for July 31st: 207 Weight on July 1st: 216 Age: 39 City/State: Arlington, TX Dietary Goal for July: Get my Protein in every day Exercise Goal for July: Just got out of the boot from my broken ankle, so start walking slowly Date banded: April 1st Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet: 47 -
Instead of the shredded chicken try the canned chicken and put light mayo in it. The canned chicken is more moist and the mayo will help it slide through the band. Try making your own pintos and cheese like you get at Taco Bell, I really loved that when I was on soft foods. I also got some frozen turkey meatballs and put them in the ninja with spaghetti sauce.

Went to my doctors this morning for my 3 month check up and they tried to do a fill. The PA poked me several times and then the doctor came in and poked me a bunch more. I am now waiting to see if they can do it under fluoroscopy or if my band flipped. I am really hoping it has not flipped. About to cry.

Yes the floro was very easy. She had to have me move to my side after she tries to move it while I was on my back, but one stick and I was done. Think I will make apts and get it filled this way going forward vs being poked so many times at my doctors office.

Really I just followed the guidelines that the doctor gave me. My band was empty until today which is 3 months out and I have not exercised because I was not allowed to do anything the first 6 weeks except light walking and I broke my ankle 7 weeks ago. So really just following the food and Water guidelines. I get more then my 64 oz of water in each day which helps keep me full and always get my Protein first. I really limit my carbs. I hope after this fill I can keep it going.

Well my port is tilted but they were able to get the fill done under fluoroscopy. They put 2cc in because my band was empty. Guess I will need to do my fills this way going forward. I am so relieved that I will not need a revision. So now I am on liquids for 3 days and mushies for 2 days.

Not about the patients...really
RedStorm replied to monkeysnana09's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
As far as Fridays go, my office does not do them in that day incase it is to much and you need an unfill. That way you can come back to the office and get the unfill vs going to the ER -
So sorry you are in so much pain and feeling so bad. It does get better every day, so keep that in mind that the worst part is over. Walking, drinking water, ice packs and the heating pad are all things that helped me get past the first few days. I really had no interest in any food and sf Popsicles made me gag at first. Water, lite apple juice and small amount of protein drinks is what I could keep down. If you not allowed protein drinks try Nectar. It is a clear thin protein drink. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon.

How long after surgery return to work
RedStorm replied to sexy_mamma1224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is so different in how they heal and the way their body recovers. I took a week off and then I worked half days the week I returned. I have a desk job but I would get very tired and was not sleeping through the night. -
My doc said no coffee for 6 weeks after surgery. If I remember it was because it could cause acid reflux. I now have it everyday.

Awesome job. What a beautiful smile

Great job. What a wonderful way to start your weekend.

1 Week Post-Op: Feeling Super Full, BUT I'm HUNGRY!
RedStorm replied to MzCdaDiva11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drink tons of water and get your protein drinks in. Both will really help you with hunger and healing. Also have some warm broth, but the water is the most important. Don't eat anything that is not approved by you doctor. You may not feel like it, but you are swollen and getting food stuck right now will not help with your healing. Good luck and follow your doctors orders.
