  1. Stay strong Heidi. It sounds like you're doing great. I don't know about the wine, I worry about getting an ulcer, so I'm staying away from the wine and coffee for now. Hang in there, and don't give up. Even though we've had surgery, there are still obstacles as frustrating as they may be, we can't let the obstacles beat us! Good luck and keep us posted
  2. Yes! I had that happen and posted about it too. I'm two months out. And the first week I lost about 9 or 10, then went to about a half lb a day, then nothing for 12days! In fact I would go up a lb or 2, then down, but couldn't loose anything for 12 days!!!!!! I was so frustrated. How is that even possible? So I increased my protein intake. The isopure flavored bottled drinks are helpful for me. I mix it with half water and half a bottle and lots of ice. They're 40 grams of protein a bottle. So, I'm finding if I get in 80+grams of protein! it helps. Once that stopped, I'm still going slow. I've lost 9 lbs in a month. I don't why it's going so slow, I'm exercising and doing everything right, but I've just resigned to the fact that maybe it'll take me longer... It's.a journey, focus on doing what you're supposed to do and it will work. Be patient. There's no getting around the frustration though. It's why I've always failed too because I would say "what's the point?" And dig into the cookies. Now we can't do that, so we have no choice but to hang in there and consider it a journey. Also, I find that with the protein, if I can get milk in, I loose better too. That's always been the case for me though and it seems to be the case now too. Hang in there and trust the process.

  4. Has anyone heard or had the experience of a three week stall? I have been doing everything right. I'm getting in about 500-600 calories a day, I'm on mushy foods and I have been able to tolerate everything so far. I haven't tried anything I'm not supposed to have. I'm walking about a mile a day, drinking 64 Ozs of fluids, and getting in between 70-90 grams of protein a day. At my two week weigh in, I had lost 18 lbs since my pre-surgery weight but then nothing since then! I understand plateaus and stalls and even having a small plateau this early, but I've never in all my years of dieting have had a plateau this early and for this long. I called my dr and they gave me a couple suggestions, but so far, that isn't working either. I'm bummed because I expected at least the first month or two to have the fat melt away and that's not happening. Has anyone else had this happen and if so, how long did it take to get past it? I've increased fluids, exercise and protein and still nada!
  5. Yes. The surgery messes with your hormones. It's important to stay on your meds (I'm assuming you already have) and call your surgeons office. They should have staff that can immediately help you. I hope they do. You've done super good. If possible force yourself to go outside and walk. Getting out of the house and seeing the sun helps me quite a bit. Also, Don't give up on getting some help .

    Head Hunger..HELP!

Excellent plan on seeing the therapist. Hang in there my friend. I don't know your beliefs, but I'll pray for your success. I have two dietitians, one therapist that specializes in treating obesity, and a nurse that are part of my support system. It's so important. Good luck!
  7. Terry, congratulations on your success and for hanging in there during such a long stall! With all the work you're planning once the weather gets better, I'm sure you'll make that 10 lb goal. I'm looking forward to being able to say I'm down 100 lbs and I'm so glad I had this surgery. It wouldn't happen if I didn't because I would have already fallen off the wagon with valentines day and Girl Scout cookies. I am happy to report, this morning I am down 1 lb. I had a shake and zucchini for dinner and walked further, faster and on dirt trails(uneven terrain). I felt like it was a better work out. I can go back to the gym today too...that helped me with presurgery weight loss of 30 lbs.

    Head Hunger..HELP!

You're having to do liquids longer than I did. Are you allowed yogurt and or cottage cheese? Sugar free Popsicles were a nice treat for me during that period and creamy tomato soup was yummy. Hang in there!

I add mio tangerine to my water. It has added vitamin b12 and I swear it helps me. It could be in my head, but maybe that's worth a try.

    Friday Weigh-In!

Just joining this thread... Week four, have been stalled for nearly two weeks but have gotten a lot of encouragement from this site so thank you everyone and stay patient with your journey. I think a lot of us expected it to go faster. I put a post it on my mirror.. It's a lifestyle, not a race. Hw 327 Sw 298 Cw 280 Surgery date jan 22 Down 18 lbs since surgery
  11. Thanks Reinangel and Rosey, I like to analyze too and weigh myself In morning for the same reason. Haven't been to a group meeting yet but I will soon. I go back to work next week so maybe getting back into my work routine will help. I feel like I'm more mobile at home than work, but maybe not. Day 11-still nothing but I'll keep my head up and have a couple shakes today. It's just weird. Even on weight watchers, I didn't plateau this long this early, but I guess our bodies freak out a little more with surgery. Plus all I've heard and witnessed before is in the early stages it comes off quicker and stalls happen later. Let's all just put that out of our heads, relax and enjoy the journey. Good luck everyone!
  12. Wow! 60 at your three month! That is awesome. Congratulations! My doc said he wanted to see me down 30 more at my three month, but this is making me worry that I won't make it. I really haven't seen much about the weight loss stalling this early, but it sounds like its common, so thanks everyone for your feedback. I'll just keep swimming.
  13. Stupid body! Haha.. I'll try the two shakes and maybe throw the scale away.
  14. You're welcome. Good luck and keep us posted!

    The Slow Losers Thread

Great post! I'm at week 4 and have not lost at all this week. I've been getting about 60- 70 grams of protein in a day, but I'll try for 80 to see if it helps. Before this week, I was loosing 1-2 lbs a day, so when it stopped and one day I gained 2 lbs, I couldn't believe it! I know I shouldn't weigh every morning, but I can't help it. I'm so excited and anxious too see the fat melt away. I guess I just had high expectations and am impatient. Lol. Anyways thanks for the tips and protein suggestions. Also, thanks everyone for all your posts and advice. Oh and I've heard of a three week stall... Has anyone else heard or experienced this? I hope it doesn't last too much longer (I can't help my impatience!)
  17. My surgeon had me in a compression wrap around my waist after surgery. I googled compression garments and there are some with copper. Could that be what they're talking about?
