Self Pay Banding

I checked in Danbury CT and lapband procedure is $18,500 for self-pay. Fills are $250. Hope this helps. Prices differ from state to state from what I understand

Wow! My doctor charges $18,500 for the surgery and fills are $250 each!!! that is for self-pay. My insurance lists it as an exclusion. I am appealing.

    I've Been Approved By Cigna!

I too have CIGNA thru hubby. I called yesterday and was told NO! No chance according to the person I spoke with. Maybe the doctor's office will have better success. I was told that no amount of morbidity makes a difference. MY BMI is 46! I am so discouraged.

I thought that I'd found help at last!
  4. Hi, My hubby and I went to a seminar on Friday re gastric-bypass and lapband surgery. It was really informative. I am leaning toward the by-pass at this point. The doctor's office is supposed to call me today to start the process. I seem unable to find out online if my insurance covers this surgery. I certainly hope it does! Anyone have any comments about by-pass vs lapband? I would be interested to hear them. Thanks, Bea

well, none of these opinions matter much. I just called my insurance and there is NO coverage at all for this. Unfortunately we don't have $18,000

Thanks for your replies. We all have a right to our own opinion. Thanks again for sharing yours. I need to lose 130 pounds. I have Diabetes type II and osteoarthritis in both knees (had right knee replaced in Nov 2006), and psoriatic arthritis which affects lower back and both hands. I HAVE to get this weight off of me.
  8. Hello, I am a 61 year old grandmother of 5 from Connecticut. I am going to the seminar on Friday. My hubby will be coming with me. I'm wondering if after all the years of eating anything and everything I will be able to do fluids, soft foods etc. Have any of you had experience with this? I am 130 pounds overweight with diabetes II, osteoarthritis of the knees, and psoriatic arthritis which affects my hands and lower back. I really need help to get this weight off! Bea:help:

    Just joined LBT

Thanks for the comments and encouragement. I look forward to the seminar tomorrow. I know this is a forever move, and I'm anxious to find out more about it. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again. Bea:kiss
  10. I know exactly how you feel. I don't want to tell anyone at all. I have told my two adult daughters and my hubby of course. My son is one of those who talk first then think later, and many times says hurtful things not even realizing it. I will not give him the chance to hurt me! I have let those who know that they are NOT to tell my son. My only question is, how do you deal with the first weeks of liquids and soft foods when around other people? I can't think of anything to say to them that would make sense. Bea:help:
