Hi Bob, It was nice to meet you yesterday at the lunch! Keep up the good work!
-
Welcome to the site! It's a great place to get tons of information and support! Best of luck on your journey.
-
Thanks Rose! Sure, give me a shout on Sunday but don't worrry, I won't forget about you! I will plan to be at your place by 11:30ish but will call when I am on my way.
-
Great, thanks Donna. See you there!

Wow, this woman sounds like a real piece of work!!!! Anybody who puts down other people in their field in order to make themselves look better, can certainly be questioned on their own ethics. I pity the people who don't know any better and use her.

Green....thank you for providing some insight to us new bandsters. I know it is normal to be nervous prior to surgery as everything is such an unknown at this point. I really like to hear people's experience who have had the band 1+ years. You have been very successful and are to be congratulated!!:clap2:

Last day of cottage cheese - surgery tomorrow!!!
Lianna170 replied to Ginger_'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Ginger, Good luck tomorrow...everything will be fine! Let us know how you are feeling when you are up to it. I'll be joining you in bandland next Thursday!:whoo: -
It looks like we will have to go with 2 tables of 12 or else change locations. I would be more than happy to make the second reservation if needed.

All sept banders are you up for a challenge?
Lianna170 replied to itstime's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am being banded on September 20th in Mississauga, Ontario. I am currently on Day 7 of the Optifast liquid diet and have lost 10 lbs. Scurvymonster...I think the buildup in the sternum is just gas pain but if you are concerned you should call your Dr. just to be sure. Happy to join the September bandwagon!!! -
I'm shocked!!! The lapband isn't magic???
Lianna170 replied to guinessgirl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess my approach to the band is different. I have spent a lifetime on diets...some worked and some didn't. I am an EXPERT in losing weight (as I assume most of us are)! I have succeeded in losing a lot of weight on a few diets. I have always said I know how to lose weight and I know how to gain weight....I just don't know how to maintain my weight. MAINTENANCE is the reason I am having this surgery. I am not looking at lapband surgery to make it easier for me to lose weight. I know I am going to have to make healthier food choices, cut down on my portions and exercise. But, when I reach my goal I do expect the band to assist me in maintaining my weight. I want to be at my "sweet spot" after I reach goal...not necessarily before. When I went into my consultation with my surgeon I had to show him that I had made serious attempts to lose weight in the past and I believe this is one of the pre-requisites to being approved to have the surgery. I am self-pay as this surgery is not covered by insurance in Canada. I think paying for this surgery yourself gives the added motivation that you are doing this for the right reasons and not looking for a quick fix. I look at this as a permanent solution and not a temporary fix. Believe me, I would rather take the $16,000.00 and go on a trip to Europe with my family, put in down on my mortgage or pay for part of my dream car. If anybody expects this to be easy then possibly their surgeon did not properly explain what their committment had to be to make this work?? -
Farewell to food tour..Not for the easily tempted
Lianna170 replied to sbee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before I started my liquid stage last Thursday I filled up on fries and bread...my two weaknesses. I have heard that many people have issues with eatting bread after being banded. I was on a food fest all summer and was truthfully getting sick from eatting. -
Hi Rose, I'm really sorry to hear what you are going through with your DH. It is hard to make our husbands understand what we have been through and are going through now. I can understand that they may think "here we go again" with another diet. But I also think part of it is they are used to us being a certain way and it is threatening to them for us to change. No doubt, other men will take notice of us as the weight drops off and I think if we use that as a weapon and throw it in their face it makes the situation worse, not better. As I told you before, I have been down this road before (having lost a ton of weight) and have lived through being the invisible fat woman and then the very visible and attractive slim woman. It is hard for our significant other to deal with and I divorced about a year after I had lost all the weight. Now, in saying that, there were a lot of problems before I lost the weight but I can certainly say that I gained much more self confidence when I became slimmer. So here I am again, back up in weight and going for the surgery to get a permanent solution to my problem. :clap2: Just be prepared that things will change and it may take a bit of "babysitting" of your DH in order to help him through this change. I was wondering if anybody got their pre-op form filled out at a walk-in clinic? My family Dr. is away so in order to have my form sent to the weight loss clinic 2 weeks prior to surgery, I have to go to a walk-in clinic.

Has Your Weight Loss Affected Your Marraige / Relationship?
Lianna170 replied to mariaxoxo4u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jesse, It could very well be that she is intimidated by your weight loss. By the looks of your picture you are great looking and quite buff! People act out of fear a lot of the times, and she may have a fear of losing you so she is pushing you away before you reject her (which thinks might happen). I would suggest the two of you seek some help. Also, you may have to get more creative in romancing her and reassuring her that she is the only one for you. Whoever said marriage was easy was never married! Good luck -

No problem Donna. I am looking forward to meeting you and everybody else at the lunch in September! -
Hi Doxielover, I bet your first bite of food tasted awesome! You should be so proud about how much weight you have lost so far...great job! I'll be joining in in "Bandster Hell" in about 3 weeks. Actually, make that in 1 week since that is when I start the infamous liquid diet.
-
I asked Claudia from the WLSC and she said you can get it done at any clinic. Seems funny to me since a walk-in clinic wouldn't have any history on you and would basically have to take your word for any information you give them to put on the form. It's so hard to get to my family doctor anyways due to me working in downtown T.O. and he being in Oshawa.

Just want to see if a picture of my pooch shows up.
-
Oops, didn't realize it was the same baby in the pics. Absolutely gorgeous...you should have another! :rolleyes
-
Andrew, All I can say is you look fabulous!!!!! There is such huge difference in the before and after pictures. You are truly a motivation to me as I start out on this journey. Oh yes, your babies are adorable! It's amazing how much our children can snap us back to reality and give us the push to take better care of ourselves. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hi Fellow Lapbanders, I found this post and was wondering if you have arranged any informal coffee get-togethers yet? I live in Ajax and would love the opportunity to chat with you over coffee. I am scheduled to have my surgery on September 20th at the WLSC with Dr. Mumford. :clap2: -
Please count me in!
