Way to go!!!!! I can wait till I can say I have lost 50 pounds!! You obviously are doing great and you should give yourself a huge pat on the back!!

I just had my surgury sept 5th. And with 20 lbs off recently people have noticed I am losing weight. I find it kinda funny. Most of my male friends notice and are really encouraging. And my female friends dont say too much, and if they do know I have lost 20 lbs I find that they kinda notice everything I do. If I dont have alot to eat they comment and they are always trying to get me to eat bad things or really late at night. I dont think they do it on purpose i think i just notice it more.

Haven't been on the board for awhile just wondering how everyone is? It has been almost 4 weeks since being banded. Last week I gained 3 pounds and was very upset. I felt like a failure. But this week I have seemed to lose a bit. I am hungry again but I do find I am eating a little less. I am getting my first fill this friday and I cant wait.

I know when I was researching the lapband vs. gastric bypass I had my father in law look into statistics for me. He is a doctor and was part of the commitee who approves new procedures. Anyways basically what he told me was that to lose weight both procedures do well. With the gastric bypass you tend to lose weight a little more quickly but in the long run lapbanders tend to catch up with their weight loss. Also he was more in favor of the lapband due to complication rate, nutrition ect. I also told him about the dr on youtube saying to get gastric bypass instead of lapband. He said that for a dr to put that on you tube was very unprofessional. And of course who knows what the people were like that the lapband didn't work for them. Maybe they expected it to do all the work. I also noticed on youtube that the only video's that were anti lapband where posted by that dr. Good luck on your research and I am sure whatever decision you make it will be the right decision for you.

Sweet for life, I just wanted to say hang in there. I know how you feel about clothes shopping, nothing depresses me more. But you are just starting your journey as am I. I too was banded by Dr. Cobourn last week so I am not on solids yet but I fully think once I am my weight may increase or I'll stop losing. Hopefully your next fill will do the trick. My thoughts are with you and remember you are a beautiful person, you will lose the weight and you do deserve that promotion!!!! Best of luck!!!

Hey poohlvr, I am feeling better but not 100 %. Today was the first day that I didn't feel nauseated but I am still getting gas pains like heart burn. But they are not as frequent. More during the night than the day. I guess because I am lying down. I do think by wednesday it should be all done. I am still not feeling hungry but my stomach growls like crazy. Although I am craving meat!!! My stomach (incisions) are doing quite well, no bruising the only one that has some bleading thru the sterile tape is the large one I think thats were the port is. My stomach is itchy but i think that is from the tape. How is your pre-op diet going?

Congratulations Ghostbuster!! I had my surgury on sept 5th. I found that a heating pad and massage went along way in helping with the back pain. All the best!!!

Poohlvr- yes I am taking gas-x. Although the first day I couldn't everytime i tried I would be sick. I dont know if it is doing anything but i will continue to talk them until the gas goes away.

Hello again, Day 3 post-op definately better than day 2! Last night was up alot with the gas pain in chest i put my heating pad on my chest and it did help a bit. By this afternoon i feel alot better, i even did my hair and make-up! LOL! I am still getting chest pain but not as much and I am able to move around alot easier.

Hey everyone, Well I was banded on wednesday. It hasn't been such a smooth ride for me. I had a bad reaction to the general and threw up a couple times. My stomach doesn't really hurt but the gas is painful. The first day all i did was sleep and when i was awake i got my mom to massage my back and applied a heating pad. This helped alot!! Now that this is the second day it is much better. Still getting gas. Every now and then I feel like i have masive heart burn but I think tomorrow will be better. I still feel this is the right thing for me to do but i just want the gas to go away.

Thanks poohlvr. I am just getting a few last minute things together plus I am too excited to sleep. I will try to post tomorrow and let you know how it went.
