Schedule NOW or Schedule Later?
Pkdvm replied to CeeBa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, CeeBa I'm in a similar situation, expect approval mid June but am planning surgery for late July due to family scheduling issues. My feeling is that this is a major surgery, with lots of lifestyle changes and I want to set myself up for success as much as possible. Post op is all about me for a change, and I want to be able to do everything right in the comfort of my own home, without trying to travel or meet obligations. In my opinion, a few weeks delay is no big deal-took me decades to get to this point, I can spend a few extra weeks making sure that I've chosen the most opportune timing. Good luck! -

RN and Choosing Sleeve instead of RNY and new here!
Pkdvm replied to mi75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and welcome! I'm preop also, should be submitting everything around June 6th(final nutrition class). I'm thrilled to hear what your surgeon said, because I've had GERD for years, and my surgeon said the same thing. I specifically asked about exacerbation and possible revision to RNY, and he reassured me that he's only had 3 patients in the hundreds he's sleeved that needed revision due to GERD. I know that there's no guarantee against complications, but this reaffirmed my gut feeling(pun intended) that the VSG was the right choice for me. Good luck to you! -
Congrats to you! You really look lovely and so happy.

Really need some support

I still don't have my surgery date, but know how you feel. I live with my special needs daughter and have been separated from my husband for over a year. Just this week he filed for divorce, not a surprise, but he's gotten really nasty really quickly( cut me off from all joint credit cards, checking, etc). I was wondering if I'm crazy for pursuing this at such a stressful time, but I KNOW I'm ready. The lawyer will do his thing, it won't be easy, but I'm so grateful for this group. Good luck on your surgery and please know that I'm just one of many who wishes you success. -

Perhaps I missed Boogers or Semen Flavor in my Unjury sample pack? And I thought that Chocolate Splendor was exotic...

I wish I had something intriguing to say, but sadly, no. Just that I want to be in here to play with the grown ups. Loved this thread. And, btw, what IS the best tasting protein shake for me to wash down my 6 edamame? Oops, no drinking during meals...my bad.

Help! Best Shock-Absorbing Walking Shoes?
Pkdvm replied to WorldTraveler's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I really love my New Balance shoes, but would strongly recommend getting fitted at a runner's store or someplace that will evaluate your gait and help you get what you need. -
Hi, Jasmine I had my first meeting with my surgeon on 2/19 and at that appointment met with the insurance coordinator who told me that my insurance(Cigna OAP) requires 4 monthly meetings with a nutritionist, along with all of the other testing(cardiologist, pulmonologist, GI doc, upper GI study, psych consult) and then when all of the reports were in it would be submitted to Cigna for approval and then surgery would be scheduled. I'm planning to have everything ready to go just as I finish my last nutrition consult, so surgery sometime this Summer for me. I'm using this time to try and get my mind around all of the changes headed my way, to prepare emotionally as well as physically for this new way of life. Actually, I'm glad to have this time, as I feel more and more ready and confident in my decision to proceed. Best wishes to you!
