I had the same issue and it persisted post op. I found that a supplement called fibermucil worked for me. It's a capsule( so you have to wait for clearance post op), but 2 capsules in the morning and plenty of water have made me much happier. You can order it from HSN.com or pro caps laboratories. I'd ask your NUT or surgeon for advice now, maybe they'll suggest colace or miralax for you. Good luck!

2 months down and 40 pounds lighter! !
Pkdvm replied to Queen P's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you! -
I'd ask your doctor. I was cleared for exercise at 2 weeks post op, with walking as tolerated before that. Perhaps a review of what you're able to eat would be helpful also, as that may be related to your lack of energy. Good luck!

Today, for the first time in over 20 years, I weigh less than 200 pounds. I am beyond grateful for this tool that has allowed me to regain my health(no more prediabetes, hypertension) and joy in life. Good luck to all!!

For the people actively Losing weight that track food...
Pkdvm replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 7/28/14 and average anywhere from 850-1200 calories a day. My carbs are usually about 60-80 g daily. I workout with a trainer twice a week(free weights/resistance band/cardio) and I've lost a total of 74# since starting this process, about 65# since my surgery. Good luck! -
Thanks to everyone for your kind wishes.

I'm almost 4 months out and my surgeon/nut said that citrical was fine and that I could stop the chewable calcium(bariatric advantage). You may want to double check what dosage they recommend specifically for you. I like the petite tablets also!

Pkdvm replied to rosebud1258's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are worth making your health a priority. Reaching out here was a good step in the right direction. Not sure if there's anything I can do, but want you to know that I wish you success. -
Well, today is my 56th birthday and it's the happiest one I've had in some time. There are 53 pounds less of me and I know that this time, they are never coming back. I had my surgery on July 28 th of this year and I'm only 3 months out, but I'm rocking my sleeve and the future is bright.. What a blessing to have this chance at a new relationship with food and to regain my health. Has it been easy, nope. Has it been worth it, more than I can say. Good luck to us all!

not sure where to post this- husband absolutely does not support wls
Pkdvm replied to sonjajade's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, Sonjajade I too looked into WLS for awhile before finally making the decision to commit- partly because I had insurance that wouldn't cover WLS when I began looking and partly because of other major life events that always required me to put my wishes on the back burner. When I finally decided that it was truly the option for me, nothing was going to stop me- not being in the middle of a nasty divorce, not caring for my beloved mother or special needs daughter, I was finally ready to take care of me, and the sleeve surgery made all the sense in the world to me. Now I'm almost 3 months out, 50 pounds down and happier than I've been in a long time for a lot of reasons. I'd try to talk to your husband to see what he is truly worried about regarding WLS, research it like crazy(this website is a great tool) and use the 6 months pre op to see if YOU are ready for this major lifestyle change. It has to feel right to you. Good luck no matter what decision you make. -
JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
Pkdvm replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also was sleeved on July 28th and am thrilled to report that I feel healthy, strong and empowered. Sleevie has given me the ability to control a facet of my life that was out of control for so many years. Every day I try to make the best choices, while also gaining insight into the stressors that I managed for years by overeating. It's quite a ride, but so exciting and every bit worth it. Good luck to all of my fellow July Sleevers. -
What was your first soft food?
Pkdvm replied to JCP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt- tasted like pure heaven to me. I was cleared for scrambled eggs, tried them and Sleevie was not having any of it(painful). I'm 8 weeks out now, but eggs can still be a little tricky for me. Greek yogurt and pureed black beans were my go to foods for awhile. Bon appetit! -
plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!
Pkdvm replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
RJ- I know that I don't really know you, but I have a great deal of respect for the advice and support that you so freely give to those of us who are also on this site. I just wanted to say that I am so sorry that this unprofessional PS made you feel humiliated and upset. He is obviously someone who you would not entrust with your medical care, and he has no business reacting in anything but a informative, compassionate way. You are a brave soul who has had much to deal with. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. -
I'm 8 weeks out and tried salad after my nut cleared it 2 weeks ago-it did not go well. Tried again last week, Sleevie said "no". Going to wait another few weeks and give it a try, but so far salad is a no go for me.

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
Pkdvm replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my surgery on July 28th with Dr. Marc Neff at Kennedy Health System- Stratford, NJ. Totally great care from the entire team(except one night nurse). I was there overnight and released the following day at about 4 pm. Great surgeon, great program with support groups, nutritionist. -
Ok om my third day of the pre-op diet
Pkdvm replied to LBtee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try bariatric foodie.com. She wrote a whole book on protein shakes. Saved my sanity during the pre op diet. Good luck!
