  1. I am a new lap bander after having surgery 23rd May 2014. So far I have lost 24 pounds steadily each week and I have now hit a plateau with no weight lost in 2 weeks. I had my 3rd fill on 23rd September and felt restriction until a day ago. I am now constantly hungry and I am just drinking Water and ignoring the hunger pains which is way easier to do than when I tried pre surgery. I need encouragement and drive that this is normal and it will pass after my next fill. I so do not want to regret having my surgery and want to succeed more than anything. I walk for 1/2 hr 3 times a week and I do watch my portions way better than I did pre-surgery about 80% of the time. I avoid sweets and sugary stuff, but have to admit a glass of cranberry juice a couple of times a week is such a temptation for me. I need advice my fellow lap-banders that everything will be A-OKAY... Thanks

    Seeing Success!

I had somewhat the same experience a couple of weeks, feeling there was no restriction 2 weeks after my 3rd fill. Now I have great restriction 4 weeks after the fill. I got help and fellow bandsters to stay the course and not forget the rules. I wish you all the best.
  3. Thank you all for your responses. I am really trying to understand and develop a good relationship with my band and I honestly do not want to sabotage my weightloss. @@labwalker - like i said this was the feeling since yesterday hence my panic. I know now that this is normal and temporary and i need to follow my program. I just needed reassurance that this is not unusual so early in it. Thanks once again.
  4. Hallo everyone...... I am on day 5 post op and I am doing very well I think. Today is day 2 without taking my painkillers :)I have chest and shoulder pains that come and go, I am passing gas a lot and I am not doing so badly but still aware that I just had surgery not so long ago.....with that said here goes........ I am in paranoia hell. I made 'minced meat and vegetable soup' yesterday which I minced to a liquid consistency and had for dinner. I have to admit that as I had the Soup last night, there were some tiny lumps in the soup (slightly smaller than a pea) The soup was really good and I had about 3/4 of a cup. Though I felt some chest pains which I have been feeling since surgery on the 23rd, I did not feel anything stuck and the soup went down well. I had the same soup for lunch today with some creme fraiche. Nothing got stuck but I did feel full and had a few lumps on it which I tried to chew completely to soft smooth paste before swallowing. 3 hours later, I am still full AND I can feel like I want to burp ALL the time with reflux coming up my chest and then going down soon after. I am so scared that I may have had this soup too soon in this liquid phase and I just need advise in regard to your experiences with the band. I have no other symptoms except my usual chest and shoulder pain and the reflux. I just want to know, what is the feeling of being stuck with the food - is it severely uncomfortable and painful and you absolutely feel like vomiting. If this is so, then I am okay because I dont have it. But if the reflux and burping I feel is abnormal then perhaps I should not touch that soup again. I certainly do not want to compromise my fantastic surgery. Let me know what your take is and if this is just my paranoid self talking.....it usually is... Thanks for your input.....
  5. Thank you all for you absolutely wonderful advise. I have frozen the remaining soup and I am sticking to liquids only for now...... I am still feeling the burping but I am taking a Protein shake right now and it is going down really. The hunger and need to chew does try really hard to take over during this phase I realize but I have to try to stick it out and let 'RayRay' (my band Rayford) heal. You are all so precious and thank you for your time.... PROLIFE

  8. Hallo BP loggers, I am a 35 year old single mother getting ready to get Lap Band in May. I am excited and nervous. So many thoughts go through my head; - Will I succeed or fail? - Will my body reject the Lap Band? - Will My body handle the surgery well? - WILL I SUCCEED OR FAIL????? I live in an island where exercise and diet is a tribe. Everyone is doing either or both. The few people I have told about my surgery are not all positive about me doing surgery including my mother who insists I just need to diet and eat less and I can lose the 120 pounds needed to reach my ideal weight. I suffer from severe back aches, headaches, high BP, stress and fatigue and other obesity related diseases. I have been overweight all my life. I have had enough. I do not want to exist anymore but I want to live. I have spent the last 7 years feeling sorry for myself and depressed. I cannot do it anymore. I am a successful, hardworking young woman who does not show signs of low self-esteem or depression. I am very good at smiling and hiding it. But I cannot wait to get some help to get my life back together again. It is so nice to see people on here that succeeded and talking about their struggles and triumphs. I look forward to meeting you all in your own journeys of transformation.

Thank you SandyM. It's amazing how emotions plays tricks on you. I am trying very hard to prepare for the emotional part of the wls journey which will determine the outcome. It is going to be quite a triumph when I succeed. Thanks alot
