Help: post-op pulling pain between navel and large incision
WorldTraveler replied to WorldTraveler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for letting me know, abbyabby! The ER doctor called me back today and after speaking with a surgeon, he said the pain was very common near the navel because that is where the camera goes in so there is a lot of movement in that area, so it will be very sore for a few weeks. I'm so glad to know everything is normal and I'm not the only one who experienced this and that it will go away Recovery is challenging! -
Help: post-op pulling pain between navel and large incision
WorldTraveler replied to WorldTraveler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
went to the ER last night and had everything checked out. It is common to have this abdominal pain (the surgeon said), so no need to worry. Just walk and keep activity light until I feel better. Looking forward to feeling normal again! On the positive side: I lost 13 pounds so far (between 1 week post-op diet and op). -

Any May 20th surgeries out there?
WorldTraveler replied to teemarie1078's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
totally agree. I managed to drink the grape and got 1/4 through the orange/mango/pineapple and 1/2 way through the coconut. It's the consistency and the sweetness. I can't stand them. I have to water them way down with ice to drink. They leave a film on your teeth I always brush after drinking some. I have tart apple, fruit punch and coconut left in the fridge plus half drank bottles of the above flavors. Damn! Should have purchased one only. -
Help: post-op pulling pain between navel and large incision
WorldTraveler replied to WorldTraveler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great; I was looking forward to healing and getting back to yoga and intense walking/light jogging. This pain makes it difficult to walk across the room...is this lifelong? What did your doctor say? Mine said it would take 3 weeks to heal a pulled muscle. -
Isopure gags me-I can't stand the consistency. I have 7 bottles left to choke down in the fridge I love Syntrax Peanut Butter, it mixes well with Water, but as soon as I am on full liquids, I will blend it with almond milk-it's heavenly, like a peanut butter milkshake and packs 23g of protein in one scoop. Find it on Amazon (2lb container for $28.00). Also, I bought several boxes of Bariwise products: they are tasty! chicken bouillon and amaretto hot cocoa, just mix with hot water in a mug and sip it. These have 15g of protein per pack. A box of 7 runs around $12.55. Visit this website for all bariatric products that are made to be low carb/high protein and go down easy: http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bari-wise-bariatric-health-products-114.html I also love that they let you search for aspartame and gluten free products and the choices are great. I have puddings from them for my full liquids phase..can't wait. I love sweets, so I realize I have an advantage here-I love shakes and puddings and when I want savory, I just have Soup broth and I actually find that I can get in too much protein per day (one day I had 90g due to choking down an isopure 40g then 35g from Syntrax shakes and a protein bullion 15 g) because everything I sip has protein (except water).

Was sleeved on May 26th and arrived home on the 29th with 6 boxes of supradol (does NOTHING). I still take it every 6+ hours and am still in pain and very sore. I had a hiatal hernia repair in addition to the sleeve and am not sleeping well at night due to discomfort. I am amazed that I was not given anything stronger and that most people don't seem to need any pain meds. I have been walking everyday (around 2 miles in the morning) and taking my PPI as well. It's not gas pain-that I know I can feel in my left shoulder. This is soreness and pulling sensation around navel area. I kept thinking it was the incisions, but now I realize the pain is near the incision, but not the incision itself. Anyone else experience this?

I'm on clear liquid for 15 days, then full liquids for 10 days, then soft foods for 2 weeks. I begin phase 4 on July 4th, so it will be a fun holiday!

Can't decided if I want RNY or Sleeve..
WorldTraveler replied to Tori Joseph's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Vicki, You should also consider Vitamin and Protein maintenance for life with each procedure. Also, they are both tools and will only be as successful as you are. Both require constant work and planning and both have plenty of people who gained their weight back. I just saw Carnie Wilson (had RNY online in the 1990s where all could watch) on the Talk yesterday as a guest host and she's clearly not at goal weight. So, I would advise you to choose based on what you can manage, not on success rates. Look at the amount of maintenance required for each and decide which works best with you. Hang out on the post-op forums for both and read through. Good luck! -
best type of swim suit for transition
WorldTraveler replied to greensleeve's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just saw on Lands End swim suit section online-swim shirts! They are perfect for transitioning and will hide sagging midsectiions. You can select any swim bottom you desire to go with it. Happy shopping. I'm 9 days post-op, so I'm going to wait.... -
Help: post-op pulling pain between navel and large incision
WorldTraveler replied to WorldTraveler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for a short walk today-was very painful to do so. I'm back, showered and on the couch for the rest of the day. If the pain gets worse, I will head to the ER. I think it's just soreness and pulled muscle and trying to do too much too soon! Thanks!!! Who knew it would be this freaking painful!!! -
Post-Op Pain
WorldTraveler replied to WorldTraveler's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thanks to all! I emailed the doctor and they got back to me-my pain could be a pulled muscle or an incision getting infected? I don't see any infection so I think it's a pulled muscle. In any case, I'm going to my US doctor to check it out. -
Scared and overthinking it?
WorldTraveler replied to babish's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 9 days post-op and all I have lost is water weight (4 lbs)...I'm walking and drinking clear fluids (getting 60-80g protein/day) and wondering when the weight will drop as well. -
Post-Op Pain
WorldTraveler replied to WorldTraveler's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thank you for your kindness...I wish I had liquid percocet. I'm debating liquid benedryl now to sleep. I'll cut back on the walk tomorrow due to soreness. -
Only you can make that decision. It's a big decision and It's rough in the beginning. All your food addictions come roaring forward even if you aren't hungry. So, if you are wavering, I would be damn sure before you go through with it. It is a commitment and work to get through. I'm 8 days post-op and sick of Clear liquids (I still have 7 more days of this), but getting on the forum helps. I will chew again. I remind myself why I chose to do this and that the incisions will heal and I will have portion control and a new body. It's worth it to me. You have to decide if it is worth it to you. Best of luck!

How much could you eat 2 weeks post op?

Most likely you haven't that one time. Good luck and be well! -
Six Days Post Op
WorldTraveler replied to abrooke1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was sleeved on the 26th and am still on Clear Liquids. I'm curious how you are able to eat cream of chicken soup so soon after surgery? -
How much could you eat 2 weeks post op?
WorldTraveler replied to TonyaNKy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi TonyaNKY, You should measure out 2 oz portions of your food. I would email or call your doctor's office for more specifics. I'm still on Clear Liquids at this point. This might help: I went on Amazon and purchased a pack of 2 oz containers (presumably for baby food). I plan on portioning my food into those and eating with small spoon/fork until I train my brain to eat less on a bigger plate. Good luck -
Any Colorado Sleevers :-)
WorldTraveler replied to SliminDownThick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay and congrats. Mine is the 29th so just over a week. I only found the one my doc does as far as support groups that's kind of why I was trying to meet some co folks :-) This is a great support group here actually. But having someone to talk to face to face is maybe more comforting. Best wishes. And keep me posted. Does he allow people in the group not getting surgery with him Do you find it helpful? -

WorldTraveler replied to SliminDownThick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi to you both, I am living in Denver but am having a vsg i Mexico because my insurance turned me down here. Are either of you attending support groups in Denver? I'm looking for one, but the seem to be exclusive to patients of the doctors/hospital. I have one more week to go! All the best!! -

What are some NSV's you're looking foward to?
WorldTraveler replied to Kquinn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
choosing clothes without worrying about if the top will cover my thighs/stomach/behind. It's so difficult to dress and feel comfortable. I would also love to be able to wear sleeveless tops-haven't done that since I was a child feel comfortable having my picture taken yoga poses and exercise would be easier increased energy increased confidence shop in boutiques without worrying about fitting into the cute clothes in the window feel comfortable in a swim suit freedom from this fat suit of oppression that I have been dragging around and struggling with since I was 9. -
Taking Probiotics Post-Surgery
WorldTraveler replied to beachplum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Genestra HMF forte caps and we make our own yogurt with organic nonfat milk, though I don't eat yogurt daily which is why I take the probiotics. I was wondering the same thing post-op. I'll ask my doctor next week when I get sleeved. -
Anyone gone to Mexico on Green Card?
WorldTraveler replied to SwanRose's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
International Travel as a Permanent Resident What documents do I need to travel outside the United States? In general, you will need to present a passport from your country of citizenship or your refugee travel document to travel to a foreign country. In addition, the foreign country may have additional entry/exit requirements (such as a visa). For information on foreign entry and exit requirements, see the Department of State’s webpage. What documents do I need to present to reenter the United States? If seeking to enter the United States after temporary travel abroad, you will need to present a valid, unexpired “green card” (Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card). When arriving at a port of entry, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer will review your permanent resident card and any other identity documents you present, such as a passport, foreign national I.D. card or U.S. Driver’s License, and determine if you can enter the United States. For information pertaining to entry into the United States, see U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s webpage. My husband is from India and will be traveling with me as well as a permanent resident. Though the patient coordinator said he would only need his green card, I see from the uscis.giv website that you do indeed need your green card and your passport or US Drivers License. The info is above and here is the link: http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-green-card-granted/international-travel-permanent-resident -
WARNING: TMI.... This constipation aint no joke!
WorldTraveler replied to sleeved215's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Can we take Miralax? Ask your surgeon's office. It's clear and mixes in Water and helps with constipation. I used to get painful constipation from extremely low carb dieting to the point where I went in for regular colonics because that was the only way I could get everything out. I had a colonoscopy and was told I have a sluggish colon and to use Miralax. I'm less than 2 weeks away from surgery, so I will be asking my surgeon if I can use that.
