I am a married mom of 3, turning 40 this year and unable to walk due to back problems. I have been heavy most of my adult life. I gained 80lbs with my first pregancy, and added another 30 with my second just 23 months later. I maintained a healthy "larger" weight until 3, almost 4 years ago when I had a back injury. Since then I have gain another 40 pounds and top the scale at 304. I was scheduled to have back surgery to fuse my spine, but the insurance denied it though TWO SEPERATE doctors a Neurosurgeon and an Orthopedist both said I needed the fusion. One of the reasons for the denied appeal was that I hadn't tried weight loss. Well, it's kinda hard to loose weight when you can't stand for more than a minute or walk more than 10 yards without being doubled over in pain. - So that's why I am here. I got the third and final denial letter (only option left is to sue) -I reasearched and found a doctor in the US that performs surgeries in Mexico. I am going Feb 4th -I have no other choices. My neurosurgeon doesn't believe the weightloss will fix my back, but as long as the insurance company can't hold it over my head, I am good with it.
