    hCG and Lap Band?

It isn't illegal. The pregnancy hormone is not FDA approved for weight loss. That doesn't mean a doctor can't prescribe it for weight loss. I did HCG pre-band with the homeopathic drops and lost 33 pounds in 40 days. I imagine HCG would be easier post band considering how small the pouch is. It would hold the recommended portion size and make you feel full. I haven't tried it post band. Still trying to figure my band out.

    Getting stuck

You haven't even been banded a month and you are getting stuck? Have you had a fill?

    Port Flipped

It really is incredibly minor. My port flipped the first month too. I was a little sore after the procedure to flip it back and suture it in place, but nothing like after the actual band surgery. I went back to normal life immediately. I didn't even need pain pills. My port is now sewn into my muscle fascia. Ports flip for all sorts of reasons, but one is bending excessively within the first couple weeks and lifting weights within the first month. You are supposed to take it easy in those first weeks in order for you to develop scar tissue to hold the port in place. Well it's kinda hard to do that in general. Ask and see if they will give you a fill during the procedure. I got my first fill at that time.
  4. My surgeon suggested that we don't get pregnant within the first 18 months. It really depends on how much weight you have to lose. Plateaus can happen at any time so that isn't a good reason to try and get pregnant. It takes a while to find the green zone with fills so you can plateau along the way.

    Pulling pain on right side?

You could have pulled a muscle. Or it could be liver or gall bladder related.
  6. So I went in for my first fill today. The doctor gave me a shot of lidocaine and then stuck the needle in to find my port. He found it, but broke the needle and had to get another one. He poked me again, dug around and pressed really hard on my stomach for a couple more minutes with no luck. Then he gave the nurse a chance, she did the same thing for about as long...still no luck. They took me back to the xray room and had me lay down. He inserted the needle again and dug around some more with additional pressing while the xray tech took a bunch of xrays. He still couldn't get it. At this point I am bawling my eyes out. It hurt so much. Long story short, I have to go in next Thursday to have them open me up and flip my port around. This is bullsh*t. I went in for a fill and all I got was pain and my stomach gushing blood. I bled through multiple bandaids and my gauze. Any of you experience a flipped port?

How do we know if port flipped or moved?

My port flipped within the first 4 weeks after surgery. I didn't know it flipped until I went in for my first fill and they couldn't do it. My port was held in with surgical mesh. I had to have a procedure to correct the port flip and they took the mesh out and sewed my port into the muscle fascia. I went in for a fill about 1.5 weeks ago and had no issues. I have the regular lap band.

One month banded and my port flipped

That's crazy! I didn't have to pay for my port revision, the office did it for free. It seems like something is going on. Are they not securing it well enough to begin with? Ask the office if this is a common thing for their doctor. Your port shouldn't be doing that.

One month banded and my port flipped

The mesh holding the port in place came loose. If you are throwing up, it's not your port...It's your band. Call your doctor ASAP

    Strange feeling inside

If the pain is on the left side, then go to the doctor. It could be a problem with the actual band.

    Strange feeling inside

Where is your port? What side of your rib cage?

    small weight loss

The point of the preop diet is to shrink the liver. Losing weight is a bonus.

Hair loss with band vs. sleeve

12 years is a long time! The sleeve isn't fool proof either because the stomach can stretch and go back to it's normal size by overeating a small amount over time. The point with both of these surgeries is to learn how to control portions. Once you do that, managing weight becomes much easier.

Hair loss with band vs. sleeve

My doctor seems to think the hair loss is from a lack of protein. He suggests around 60g per day.

  20. It took my port incision 6 weeks to close all the way. The bump is probably your port.
  21. I was on liquids the first 2 weeks after surgery, but my doctor allowed oatmeal and soggy cereal during this phase. I ate a lot of soup.

    Digital Scale Recommendations

I bought the EatSmart scale that has a wide platform (my husband wears size 15 shoes). So far it has been really wonderful and accurate!
  23. Think of your band as a funnel...essentially that's all it is. Liquids go through the band fast, leaving you hungry. solid food goes through very slowly leaving you full longer. Drink when you are thirsty. It's very difficult to stretch your pouch with liquids, but you should still take it slow. The amount you drink, especially the low calorie drinks, doesn't matter as much. You were banded over a week ago so a lot of the swelling has subsided. After another week you will most likely feel little to no restriction, especially if your band is empty. You will feel like you can eat/drink a lot more. I never really counted my ounces after I was banded. I drank my 8oz Protein shake all at once (sipping).
