CarmenLeAn replied to Wendydarling19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, had mine done in Indiana. I got the bill from the hospital and just for surgery the docs fees were $3,000. My fills and are not included. They un about $225 a fill. Hope this helps. -

Lost 17lbs in December. Had my first fill on January 13th. Have only lost 6lbs since then. Can't see the doc til march 3rd for my next fill. Worried about going on vacation next week. Just down and I know I shouldn't be. Going to support group tomorrow for some encouragement.

Thanks guys. Didn't think about it actually being 23lbs in 2 months. That is pretty good. Going to support group tonight. That should be good. JennyBean you are not a loser (not the good kind). Get that out of your head.

I had my first fill last month. I was more worried about that than surgery. My doc numbed my port area and then put a little saline in. Then gave me a little water to see if it would stay down. Then I was on clear liquids that day. Full liquids the next. A day of soft, then solids. It's really not too bad. Good Luck!

Mine lasted about an hour. We talked a little bit about everything. Past weight, junior high & high school, family. things like that. I see a therapist for some issues. So the guy asked for a letter from my therapist stating I was in a good place in life and we had talked about WLS. He told me once I got the letter I was good to go. Easy, peasy

Arguing with the scales again. No there is no way that I have gained weight especially I 2 days. I know in my head it is daily fluctuations, but when I see it on the scales it freaks me out. Tempted to trash them and only weigh at the Doctors office or at least have the hubs hide them again. On to other news... Going on vacation next week for 10 days. Really worried about getting off track. Worried about getting my Protein. Not worried about Water, I get that in everyday easily. Seriously considering taking my kitchen scales with me. Looking forward to visiting my dad and then going down to see my daughter and grandson. Just want to be able and enjoy it and lose a few pounds. Thanks for letting me vent. My family is very supportive but they don't always understand what I am going through and actually how hard I am working at this

Fill #3 - Restriction is in the HOUSE!
CarmenLeAn replied to ccjll's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Had my first fill in January. Feels like I have no restriction what so ever. Had and appointment next week for another fill, but I'm going to Florida next week to see my daughter and grandson. So I had to cancel my appointment. They can't get me in until March 3rd. Planning on another fill. Still losing pretty good, but it does feel like I'm another diet. I am hoping this next fill helps Congratulations on your restriction! -
Congratulations!!!!

Good luck. My pain didn't last that long. Hopefully it's the same for you -
Hi, from Anderson. Had surgery at Community North with Dr. McEwin. Community Bariatics in Noblesville. Great place, great people. Good luck!

I have notice people that eat bread and steak in this group. My Doc & Nut stress no bread or heavy steak.Says the bread will blow up in the band and get stuck. Only 2 1/2 months out and have no desire to try it.

I'm 10 weeks post-op. Down 35lbs! Down 75 since I started this journey. Only 65 left to go!!!

I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. Feels likes there is no restriction in my band. Freaked because the scale said I gain 3lbs and I knew there was no way that was possible. I upped my Protein to 80 grams and upped m Water to 96oz'z. Then I had my husband hide the scales. Waited a week to weigh again. Lost those pesky 3lbs and another 3. I am a happy girl

Hi, I'm 9 weeks out and have lost 39lbs. Happy with the weight loss, but absolutely starving. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. Feels like it hasn't done a thing. I'm very careful about weighing and measuring, but it's tough. I've upped my protein to 80 or 90 grams. Upped my water to 96oz's. Don't go for my next fill til march 3rd.(Going on vacation). I'm in bandster hell also. Good Luck & Stay Strong!!!

Hi, I was banded Nov 8. I've lost 35lbs. Really happy so far. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. Feels like I have no restriction what so ever. So it's really tough. I fight head hunger on a daily basis. I weigh and measure everything. I believe that's why I'm still losing. I guess what I'm trying to say is: You Got This!!!

Hi just found this site. 2 months post-op
CarmenLeAn posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello everyone! I started my journey in May of 2013 but it was a long time coming. I've considered wls surgery for years. Did some research. I was really looking into gastric bypass. The more I checked in to it I realized it wasn't for me. Too invasive, to many complications and it just plain scared me. Fast forward to April of 2013. Was watching a dvr'd show (swamp people) and a commercial came on for a lapband seminar at one of our local hospitals. Decided to check it out. I listened and asked some questions and listened to some success stories. Got excited. Talked to my husband about it and said I wanted to make an appointment with the surgeons office. Went to my first appointment and after talking to the Nut and the rest of the staff decided this was the right surgery for me. Met with the surgeon a couple weeks after that. Went for my mandatory 6 months supervised weigh in's, Used that 6 months to start my lifestyle change. Ended up losing 40lbs on my own. Then surgery day came (Nov 8th 2013). Sailed thru that. Had about 10 minutes of buyers remorse. Got over that and got on with my new life. I have lost 35lb since surgery. Had my 1st fill 2 weeks ago. Feels like there is no restriction in my band. I need another fill. The same day I had my fill my family doc took me off metformin (diabetes) and blood pressure medication. I was on top of the world. I have a bad habit of weighing everyday. I gained 3lbs in a week. Asking myself why. I hadn't changed anything. Doing everything I am supposed to do. I was freaking out. I had my husband hide the scales then e-mailed my Nut. She didn't respond ( which was strange) so I e-mailed the nurse. She got back with me within a couple of hours. Found out Gina(Nut) was on vacation. I told the nurse my worries and that the only thing different was I was off the metformin. She said that could be the culprit. Not weigh, not to worry and she would have Gina get ahold of me Monday. This is my story to date. I feel great so I can imagine how I will feel when I lose the rest (75lbs). I exercise 5 days a week and I am enjoying it. So even though I am only 2 months out I can tell this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Thanks for letting me share -
I'm 2 months post-op. Lost 35lbs since surgery and 40 on my own. Two weeks ago, oh happy day, family doc took me off Metformin(diabetes). Also had my first fill that day. I have a bad habit of weighing everyday. So imagine my surprise when one day I gained a pound. Didn't panic, probably just Water weight. Well 2 days after that I was up a total of 3lbs. I am doing everything by the book. Weighing and measuring. 800 to 1,000 calories a meal. Getting all my water and Protein. Exercise 5 days a week. Cardio and weights. The only thing different is I'm of the metformin. Talked to my nurse. She said this could be the culprit and not weigh and not to worry. Well I am worried. I went so far as to have my husband hide the scale. I thought being taken off the medication was a good thing. I'll get it figured out. My question: has anyone else had this problem?
